"Designing Thinking" was developed to reduce the manufacturing risk of physical products. It's rooted in industrial design and engineering.
"UX" came from early human-computer interaction designers, aka "human factors engineers" at Apple.
And UX didn't mean "just" interface design. It was a holistic way of thinking about how humans interacted with systems: the packaging, the loading speed, and the marketing copy.
