I can see a lot of her energy issues being resolved if you run her with Raiden and save Xingqiu for like an Ayaka or Chongyun-based freeze team on the other side.

This is rather niche, but I do think it’s important to note that enemies affected by the skill all stagger to a similar point. Meaning that this is one of the few ways to crowd control enemies outside of anemo (crowd control meaning moving enemies closer, I’m not considering Petrify or Freeze in this example)
@@YellowPingouin Exactly this, we only have 3 nations so far and Mhy is already running out of idea's. Basically just making 4- and 5- star equivalent, similar in kit and playstyle characters. But Yelan has two major different components over XQ. She scales with HP which is arguably easier to build if you kept all your HP% artifacts. And two her A4 passive is an average 20% dps increase for your main carry. Which is really huge considering all other buffs applied.
The sucrose Vs Kazuha drama started before he came out. The arguments concerning XQ and Yelan have mostly been settled already, and the VV vape comps are waiting for TC review

iirc its like the 2nd best bow behind polar star for fischl, and i wouldnt be surprised if its similar for other chars. things like bennett help boost it for characters like childe or melt ganyu so thats something else to consider
in this case it's much better than redhorn because redhorn passive is very meh outside its intended characters, meanwhile aqua simulacra passive works on pretty much everyone

She does have an energy issue, but I'll be running her strictly with Ei for the time being, and put Xingqui on another team with less energy issues. Also, I'm probably running her with Favonius Bow, since I got mine at R5. The current build I have her on has her at ~160% ER, but with Favonius and Ei, should be fine. If it's not fine, I got an ER sands ready to boost it up to 200%.
I feel called out...I check all the time to make sure my expeditions are done and I do use 20 hr runs with all the characters with regional passive (Fischl/Bennett/Keqing/Chong/Sara)
Loved your pre-release analysis. I'm not a fan of bow based characters, but I'm seriously considering Yelan. My Hydro team is weak (no Childe or Ayato or Koko) and need a strong enough unit.
For me personally, I want Yelen to make a team with klee in it. My team build would be Yelen, klee, raiden, and diona. I believe this team would offset a lot of the energy issues and have a decent rotation with skills and burst.

Been debating whether or not I should pull for Yelan for a while now since for whatever reason the Emblem domain always gives me godly Sands for everything BUT Atk% or ER. Since I have a vacant Fav Bow and practically have an unused set ready rn I may as well try my luck lol

Sac and Fav weren't ranked on refinements because their passives doesn't directly contribute to her damage. As for which one you should use imo it's entirely up to what you prefer more (Sac for double E for double hydro particle generation or Fav for clear particles which your non-hydro teammates would greatly appreciate)
@@tasha2749 these characters absolutely still benefit from high attack, it's just that you can ignore it as other stats to attack conversion is high, yelan straight up doesn't scale off attack in any non meme way
@@asi3136 Albedo E (especially with c2). His Q is such a low amount of his total dmg anyways. Kuki will have full hp scaling too. Diona doesn't care about base atk. Gorou has full def scaling. And Yunjin too has full def scaling.
@@Doki_LP Gorou E damage scales with attack and DEF. Gorou Q damage scales with DEF, and his defense buff scales with talent level only. You definitely don't need to have any defense on Gorou since only his DEF buff matters and his damage/healing is irrelevant.
Just pull for her if you really want to. People will figure out her true worth right after her banner ends. Then, once again, skippers will be regretters just like with Kazuha, painstakingly waiting a year for a rerun.
In reverse powercreep system, its objectively better to improve the older characters that you have than getting a new ones. But genshin are so easy, its doesn't matter much even if the older characters are better.
which one is more important for my account? second xingqiu for raiden national second half or kazuha for overall usage? since I have c2 raiden and engulf and ayaka I can usually use sucrose for raiden but is yelan needed for second half for raiden national?
Main question for you about that is, Are you have another hydro character other than Xinqiu and Barbara? If you not have Childe/Kokomi/Ayato/Mona, then pull yelan
@@Oxyuit is fine, still up to you. For me in that situation, better for me to pull yelan, because problem with mona only meta team is freeze team. Except you already have team don't need Hydro applier like Itto Team/Xiao team.
Sounds like you don't really need yelan tbh. She's good, but with all the characters that you have, she won't bring anything extra to your acc. Better get kazuha in 2.8 or maybe 3.0.
before I got ayaka I usually run hu tao with xq first half and raiden national second half with Mona as a substitute so that’s why I’ve always wished for a second xq, thoughts?
C1 actually not bad.. bcs instead of 10 sec rotation for her E.. you can 20sec for her E.. you want as much off field time for yelan.. so its a good thing

Even things that don't show up on the character stat details snapshot. Things that don't ever snapshot are things that directly mention an attack type. Like elemental burst DMG%, elemental burst crit-rate, elemental skill DMG% etc. Just plain DMG% that isn't directed does snapshot. Very easy to confirm with PJWS
Zajeff, you mentioned that her signature weapon is quite good on other characters but who can really use it ? and how good is it compared to its crit competitor ? (Harp, Polar Stars, Thundering Pulse) is it really worth to sacrifice quite a lot of ATK for crit ? (I’m aware that you can get ATK from other sources. It’s just that I feel like many bow characters except national Childe dont really need to utilize Benny)
There quite a few actually but because this unit is really powerful it ended up making aqua a really solid weapon, fischl childe ganyu really appreciate the dmg bonus % 88% crt dmg its probably not they're bis but its still rank pretty high up
@@tasha2749 i saw calc showing that aqua is almost as strong as amos in melt assuming the passive works and with bennett. But still not completely sure.
If yelan's high invested damage will be only "comparable" to a high invested xingqiu, I might be a bit disappointed. I mean yeah, xq's single target damage is amazing, but she's a 5-star who might have worse hydro application, no damage decrease and no healing.
@@Zajef77 oh yeah that's definitely strong, I can imagine that being great on hu tao, but replacing xq by yelan will strongly worsen the survivability, especially if you're not using double geo but the double pyro + anemo comp. She looks to be great in maybe rational but, Raiden already has a lot of dmg%. Ofc I'm not a master theory crafter, I'm just speculating with the knowledge I've gathered from watching theory crafting content.

It is more than 6 energy from passive considering her ER% and Favonius has higher ER% substat. With Favonius you would need for example 180% ER but with Elegy you would need 220% and have less crit/hp substats in general.

Has anyone else though about using both Xingqiu and Yelan in a Bennett + Klee/Yanfei/Yoimiya team? Xingqiu would help battery Yelan. Xingqiu double E into Yelan Q would help keep her energy up. Xingqiu would reduce hydro resistance and the double hydro would powerup Xingqiu and Bennett healing power so you can just face tank stuff easier with the squishy pyro characters.
I'm intrigued by the fact that you didn't talk about the 2-piece HoD combined with some other 2p (Millelith or Noblesse for example) are they significantly less interesting than 4p Emblem? Also, is the energy production spreadsheet publicly available and if so could you link it? Pretty please!
How does the passive work when we change characters twice? Say after Yelan Q, we change to character A, then B. I would suspect the passive will reset to 1% if we change from A to B. But what if we change back to A? Would it continue from the previous buffing point or reset and start from the beginning 1%?
Is the fading twilight actually that bad on Yelan? I think damage wise it’s one of the best 4 star options just because it buffs damage increase and Yelan doesn’t have any buffer that is usable apart from barbara c2,kazuha elemental damage increase,raiden skill,shenhe tap skill and mona omen could also include petra set but nah afiak there is also no hp buffer out yet only debuffers can buff her damage (vv swirl) and other defense and resistance decrease so i think having a little bit more damage and having favonius on other teammates like fav kazuha on freeze pr fav bennett on rational. But anyways this is all coming out from my ass anyways and did absolutely no calculations
Her E have high multiplier.. so using sac bow will be very good on her.. might be better than favonious bcs it give some ER and high damage (bcs you able to use more E).. but require r4 at least
you need to be on field to proc fav weapons. which has anti synergy with her kit/role. and even if you do e, q, and then one auto before switch, unless have massive crit rate and refines there is still a decent chance you get no particles...
The chance will actually be pretty low, since E+Q+auto is 6 hits in single target and each additional target you hit with your E will be one more hit. You only need to get a proc once
Wouldn't using yelan burst, then battery/support options, then DPs work as a better rotation as you will have your DPs dealing damage at the end of yelans A4 passive, therefore getting the better buff?
You can deal an average 25% increased damage over 15s, or average 43% increased damage over 5s (assuming you start at 10s). Clearly the first option will result in higher output.
Now a days i am seeing a lot of people emphasizing too much on gcsim... how much reliable do you think it is ? Should we make our decisions on charecter building based on that?

I know mr zajeff doesn't outright tell anyone whether they should pull for a character or not, but i want someone to tell me whether yelan is worth pulling for for someone like me who doesn't have any hydro characters other than xinqiu and barbara. I originally wanted to go for xiao because i wanna have him as a collectable, but i struggled pretty badly with 36* this abyss, i ended up having to use xinqiu in 12 3 first half for the pyro abyss lectors, and a lvl 50 barbara for a makeshift freeze team in 12 3 second half. I still got 36* but it was a bit of a pain and now im tempted to go for meta over character preference once again :')

Issue with Klee is she applies too much pyro but with the other units it sounds like a lot of reactions will happen anyway so that it works out

@@Doki_LP Gorou E damage scales with attack and DEF. Gorou Q damage scales with DEF, and his defense buff scales with talent level only. You definitely don't need to have any defense on Gorou since only his DEF buff matters and his damage/healing is irrelevant.

In reverse powercreep system, its objectively better to improve the older characters that you have than getting a new ones. But genshin are so easy, its doesn't matter much even if the older characters are better.

Sounds like you don't really need yelan tbh. She's good, but with all the characters that you have, she won't bring anything extra to your acc. Better get kazuha in 2.8 or maybe 3.0.
before I got ayaka I usually run hu tao with xq first half and raiden national second half with Mona as a substitute so that’s why I’ve always wished for a second xq, thoughts?

C1 actually not bad.. bcs instead of 10 sec rotation for her E.. you can 20sec for her E.. you want as much off field time for yelan.. so its a good thing
how is fav doing more dmg than elegy while they both have same stats fav only 5% more er and the new weapon does more dmg than both of them with his passive
Fav particles from passive means less ER is required, which in turn lets you get more hp and crit

i think emblem's 2pc set is going to be wasted with fav warbow with her as her burst cost is only 70 and fav warbow also gives about 5-10 energy back to her and her e ability already produces a lot energy particles so imo going for 2pc-2pc sets might be better but idk i didnt do the math and just speculation on my end, though with her signature weapon 4pc emblem is definietly gonna be the bis

Even things that don't show up on the character stat details snapshot. Things that don't ever snapshot are things that directly mention an attack type. Like elemental burst DMG%, elemental burst crit-rate, elemental skill DMG% etc. Just plain DMG% that isn't directed does snapshot. Very easy to confirm with PJWS

Zajeff, you mentioned that her signature weapon is quite good on other characters but who can really use it ? and how good is it compared to its crit competitor ? (Harp, Polar Stars, Thundering Pulse) is it really worth to sacrifice quite a lot of ATK for crit ? (I’m aware that you can get ATK from other sources. It’s just that I feel like many bow characters except national Childe dont really need to utilize Benny)
There quite a few actually but because this unit is really powerful it ended up making aqua a really solid weapon, fischl childe ganyu really appreciate the dmg bonus % 88% crt dmg its probably not they're bis but its still rank pretty high up

If yelan's high invested damage will be only "comparable" to a high invested xingqiu, I might be a bit disappointed. I mean yeah, xq's single target damage is amazing, but she's a 5-star who might have worse hydro application, no damage decrease and no healing.
Important to remember she has a pretty solid dmg% bonus
@@Zajef77 oh yeah that's definitely strong, I can imagine that being great on hu tao, but replacing xq by yelan will strongly worsen the survivability, especially if you're not using double geo but the double pyro + anemo comp. She looks to be great in maybe rational but, Raiden already has a lot of dmg%. Ofc I'm not a master theory crafter, I'm just speculating with the knowledge I've gathered from watching theory crafting content.
well yelan c0 does 15%-20% more dmg than xq c6
@@malok8473 but xq can benefits from bennett's atk buff, pyro resonance, and any atk buff that exist meanwhile yelan doesn't since we don't have any HP buff characters out yet. so its still a win for xingqiu.

It is more than 6 energy from passive considering her ER% and Favonius has higher ER% substat. With Favonius you would need for example 180% ER but with Elegy you would need 220% and have less crit/hp substats in general.
Fav gives you clear particles which makes the ER requirements go down further

Has anyone else though about using both Xingqiu and Yelan in a Bennett + Klee/Yanfei/Yoimiya team? Xingqiu would help battery Yelan. Xingqiu double E into Yelan Q would help keep her energy up. Xingqiu would reduce hydro resistance and the double hydro would powerup Xingqiu and Bennett healing power so you can just face tank stuff easier with the squishy pyro characters.
Klee is just a literal pyro dps, she applies too much pyro
Yoimiya will probably love Yelan

How does the passive work when we change characters twice?
Say after Yelan Q, we change to character A, then B.
I would suspect the passive will reset to 1% if we change from A to B.
But what if we change back to A? Would it continue from the previous buffing point or reset and start from the beginning 1%?
probably only gonna reset once the burst is out it will keep the buff even when switching

Is the fading twilight actually that bad on Yelan? I think damage wise it’s one of the best 4 star options just because it buffs damage increase and Yelan doesn’t have any buffer that is usable apart from barbara c2,kazuha elemental damage increase,raiden skill,shenhe tap skill and mona omen could also include petra set but nah afiak there is also no hp buffer out yet only debuffers can buff her damage (vv swirl) and other defense and resistance decrease so i think having a little bit more damage and having favonius on other teammates like fav kazuha on freeze pr fav bennett on rational. But anyways this is all coming out from my ass anyways and did absolutely no calculations
Her E have high multiplier.. so using sac bow will be very good on her.. might be better than favonious bcs it give some ER and high damage (bcs you able to use more E).. but require r4 at least

you need to be on field to proc fav weapons. which has anti synergy with her kit/role. and even if you do e, q, and then one auto before switch, unless have massive crit rate and refines there is still a decent chance you get no particles...
The chance will actually be pretty low, since E+Q+auto is 6 hits in single target and each additional target you hit with your E will be one more hit. You only need to get a proc once
Wouldn't using yelan burst, then battery/support options, then DPs work as a better rotation as you will have your DPs dealing damage at the end of yelans A4 passive, therefore getting the better buff?
That's good, but not every team allows for that
You can deal an average 25% increased damage over 15s, or average 43% increased damage over 5s (assuming you start at 10s).
Clearly the first option will result in higher output.

You can't run yelan on ganyu freeze effectively (AAs only, not CAs), plus Mona is used in freeze mainly for her omen extension.

I know mr zajeff doesn't outright tell anyone whether they should pull for a character or not, but i want someone to tell me whether yelan is worth pulling for for someone like me who doesn't have any hydro characters other than xinqiu and barbara. I originally wanted to go for xiao because i wanna have him as a collectable, but i struggled pretty badly with 36* this abyss, i ended up having to use xinqiu in 12 3 first half for the pyro abyss lectors, and a lvl 50 barbara for a makeshift freeze team in 12 3 second half. I still got 36* but it was a bit of a pain and now im tempted to go for meta over character preference once again :')

In your case i would say yelan is very valuable to your account. Having 2 hydro unit other than babara is always comfortable if u want to 36* abyss.
