I relate to these people (kind of). Im from a small island in Micronesia. (I'm in the United States tho). We are aware that there's more to the world than just our island, but we just couldn't communicate with the world on our island. The bigger islands are more developed and connected to the world. In 2021, internet was brought to my island as well as other islands in the country. One thing I noticed with my people is they just don't get that "what goes on the internet stays on the internet." Like they'll go live, filming drama that should be kept in their household. It's already shameful to take family problems out of the house. Then when things calm down, they'll apologize to each other and go back and delete it. But it's like, people already seen it, screen recorded it, and shared it with the world. You might as well keep it up there.

What about the impact apps like Google Maps and Waze will have on these tribes. You have to have a great intuition of your surroundings while navigating on foot through the jungle, it can literally be the difference between life or death. Anything can come out of nowhere and kill you. You have to be very focused on what's going on around you, now just give it a year or two they are going to be using Google Maps to navigate the jungle, distracted by that part of the time, and could get very ugly. Could you imagine? It's all fun and games until you walk into a river.
They don't need google maps for the fucking amazon forest, there is no data there to begin with its a remote part of it... And you are kind of blowing the hunting part out of proportion, it isn't that deep. The biggest animal you are gonna find in the amazon is a jaguar and an alligator in the river, and they hunt with firearms, not fucking spears.
Essentially the same way CZcams normalized clickbait mainstream journalism began to normalize inaccurate grabby headlines that go against everything you’re taught in the first journalism 101 class.
That’s modern journalism for you, be it news, gaming, sports, etc. The issue isn’t exclusively porn but more social media, where people are spending more time on the internet/devices instead of their tribal responsibilities. Much like in America where have seen sharp declines in work ethic and education as people spend more time on their phones instead of their tasks/schoolwork. But these “journalists” rely almost exclusively on social media to get their content out so you’ll never see them bite the hands that feeds them
I’m glad you mentioned their concerns of the longevity of the tribe now because I had the same thought. Hopefully it doesn’t impact their culture in such a negative way.
Theres this old early anthropology bias of the noble savage where somehow indigenous people living the way they do is somehow inately pure and adding any kind of medical help or quality of life changes would destroy these people when they and the anthropologists share the same race and brain
It's a hard topic to navigate, because there's definitely many cultural things at play. But in general, going from 0-100 on something does make it really hard to manage. Take alcohol. That has ravaged indigenous communities that went straight from nothing to hard liquor, and they didn't have the cultural controls in place of Europeans (who had been consuming alcohol for over a thousand years).

Again tho These tribes were no stranger to Internet or techno, it's common for tribes in parts of central and south America that avoided genocide. Think of it like Appalachia communities up in the Mountains where it's people just vibing but because of the outside world it pays to send a kid to get educated and have them grow into a sort of tribal liaison. That's how its become more common to see tribes wearing clothes, it gets hot and it makes sense to be naked but come on, at least a bugs bunny tee shirt for a breezy morning isn't going to collapse a culture. positive effect of the modern missionary model at least the ones that are true to their intent is that provided a positive relationship between tribes and their curiosity of the outside world. Elders are always worried about the tribe dissolving due to the youth moving away and that's a legit risk, but if you can get high speed Internet in the woods why would you move to the city and pay for it yourself with a higher ping when the liaison goes to pay for it each month on the tribal account and can pick up your case of prime at the same time.

But these “journalists” rely almost exclusively on social media to get their content out so you’ll never see them bite the hands that feeds them
Yeah they probably don't start the blatant Marxist indoctrination in Journalism 101. That comes later.

Somebody gets it
It's a hard topic to navigate, because there's definitely many cultural things at play. But in general, going from 0-100 on something does make it really hard to manage. Take alcohol. That has ravaged indigenous communities that went straight from nothing to hard liquor, and they didn't have the cultural controls in place of Europeans (who had been consuming alcohol for over a thousand years).

Expose someone to an ideology and boom you see someone displaying 50 years history in a few months. Again though it's because genetically we have the same brain as we did thousands of years ago humans think like humans.
