  • Short video reviews the reasons an operator should quickly repair water seal leaks on any pressure washer pump. Leting it go gets very costly!

    I own several triplex pump machines including an electric AR brand that’s similar to the machine in the video. Very good explanation of the potentially fatal problem of leaking water.

    It was received from the customer shipped back to us via UPS. He was instructed to put the transport plug in before shipping rather than draining the oil so we can see what we were dealing with. Good catch! They are shipped out this way with a tag reminding the dealer or customer to remove and install dipstick with breather. We have seen some pumps create enough pressure to push oil seals out during operation. Most often when that happens if unattended all the oil drops and pump will seize up quickly.... and in those cases wet end stays pretty intact.... not so much the back end!

    The original red oil filler cap has not been removed and replaced with the yellow dip stick in accordance with the instructions that come with the machine. The red plug doesn't vent so excess pressure will build up on the oil side.

    I wonder if the manufacturer has a recall on stuff like this cause if they are having so many like this I'm assuming that the manufacturer should have something to say about that

    • @chipjumper
      @chipjumper Před 4 lety +2

      You need a water seal kit. Check for piston play while you got it off.

    • @chipjumper

      @@sirus303 You need a water seal kit. Check for piston play while you got it off. I have an Annovi Reverberi RKV series pump and bought the water seal kit for $45 off eBay. I figured that the pump was so old I might as well replace the pistons too; that kit was like $77 shipped. Very cheap compared to spending $400 on a new pump. Again, just make sure you don't have wobbly pistons ("piston play") as the actual oil bearings might be shot thus require a lot more work.

    May be this kind of problem can occur with a poor quality water (high calcium) at an intensive use ? Like 8hour a day.

    How do Can pumps compare to Annovi?

    • @PapaRugby
      @PapaRugby  Před 6 lety

      The pump motor unit you see here is built by General Pump, Annovi Reverberi also makes an Itailian pump/motor combination. We have used both over the last 25 to 30 years and both are long lasting and durable. We use Annovi Reverberi, Cat, Udor, Comet and a few other pumps in our production. We like to choose pumps based on the applications they will be in. In some cases one manufacturers design may perform differently and may offer advantages to specific applications. Many times it is driven by customer preference, pricing, and parts availability that our customers have in geographic areas.

    $700 LOL! Fuck that

    • @PapaRugby
      @PapaRugby  Před 7 lety

      In most cases regardless of size, quality or maker of a pump, once you get into the rear end of the pump with repairs of crankshaft, bearings, connecting rods, plungers and additionally every seal being replaced you are approaching 60 to 70% the cost of a new machine. The parts and labor discussed during the video are at a retail level with a local shop doing the work. This cost of course is less if you are purchasing the parts and doing the work yourself but we still would not recommend the repair.... It is still throwing good money at a used machine. The 1500A is sold by distributors with prices starting as low as $759 with free freight. This machine is used in detail prep areas, commercial screen print shops and industrial applications many running 5 hours a day. We have spoke with some customers with applications well over 2000 hours of use with proper maintenance. This small hand carry pressure washer weighs 58 lbs and the cost, durability and dependability cannot be really compared to the DIY $399 machine. Many of which have no way to even change the oil, 250 hours or less and throw it away.

    • @CamSpray2010
      @CamSpray2010 Před rokem

      If water is in the oil, and any run time on it that way....the cost to repair is beyond the cost of a new pump.
