I have family members who are into toxicity, chaos and drama and when they throw cookouts and get togethers, I rarely go and because of this very reason but if I don't show up, they will accuse me of being stuck up or thinking I am better than them. No..... I don't want to increase the odds of getting caught up in y'all low vibrational energy and chaos! This is the truth and what's worse, is that if you are not getting in with their chaotic reprobate ways, they will question your blackness. Yeah, don’t spend much on clothes or bring many. Me and my mom went to Europe a few weeks ago and got our luggage stolen. Luckily, we didn’t lose anything valuable but I was mad because they stole our new cute clothes and they got my good shape wear lol. We ended up buying some clothes and wearing those few clothes for two weeks lol.

I agree Jay. I have been saying the same thing about demanding respect from places where we spend our money. Go in get followed, talked to like you're an animal. Totally disrespected. You cant demand respect, you get it by improving your culture, attitudes, and behaviors. If that person doesn't even look into it with the same vigor that she would for someone else I will go over her head to a point. Still the fact remains they will not get my money, nor my business. My problem with our community is that we treat criminality as if its part of our culture, and if we speak against it, the other criminalistic ones think we are 1. trying to impress white people and 2. take it as a personal attack on them as a person.
Bro the whole thing is that it is a survival mechanism that has been indoctrinated in them for years and years. I don't know if you grew up in the hood but you probably know that the projects are a vicious and hostile environment. As someone from there, let me tell you that most brothas in the hood are genuinly good people. However there are a few reasons for their hyperagressive behaviour. First of all as you know most black men come from single mother families period, but this is amplified in the hood. What ends up happening is that due to the abscence of the father, the balance is disturbed resulting in a low level of emotional regulation. With the kid growing up only with his mother, the kid picks up the feminine traits from the woman as it is the only traits available. This results in a overly emotional male, who is quick to anger, lacks logic and impulsion control skills and blindly acts on emotion. The second reason that black people from the hood are hyperagressive is their environment. Simple as. When all you have seen is pissy stairways, crack fiends, gangs , shootouts, domestic violence, how do you expect that man to act himself? The reason for brothers taking offense at every little thing instead of just walking away, is because he has to be hyperaware at all times in order to protect his life, livelihood and family. In the case that he decides to remain passive he risks two critical situations: 1) missing vital evidence due to what others might be scheming on doing and 2) appearing passive in an environment where it is dog eat dog makes you a target. It really gets real in the hood, I am sure you know, if you appear weak in the hood it can mean game over for you. And that is why remaining passive might be too big of a risk to afford. The third reason is that a lot of black people from the hood have undiagnosed and untreated mental disorders. Most of them grow up in a house where there couldve been domestic violence, where the caretaker for them was hooked on drugs, where they witness violence happen all around their neighborhood or where they could have gotten molested. A lot of them have ptsd and other mental issues. But the issue is that it is extremely hard for a black man in the hood to get access to mental help, a therapist etc. And even if they did the stigma around them stops them from reaching out for it. This also leads to a lot of unhealthy coping mechanisms that also inhibit their hyperagressive tendencies. Somebody in your family died? What is the go to therapy in the hood, lets pop this bottle and smoke this blunt down. Matter fact i think we can get some codeine too.
As a Black male, I noticed a lot of Black females tend to have a strong personality coupled with a bad attitude. Women of other ethnic groups aren't really like this as they tend to stay in their place as feminine females.
