I used to think Jolene was something she made up for laughs. Dolly has always had a sense of humour I can't tell which times she was telling the truth and which ones were the joke
If she hadn't made it as a singer she would've made a great comedian.
The upcoming country group Chapel Hart wrote a song u can have him Jolene and she retweeted it and said his birthday was coming up so she would hold on to him a little bit longer and I was was wait f**k that was real. Lol I thought it was her sense of humor too.
Yeah since she said she got the name Jolene from a little girl who was at a signing event
But maybe she uses Jolene as a shorthand for the woman in the story Jolene and doesn't mean the woman her husband cheated on her with idk tho hard to tell what's fact what's fiction
True story, she just changed her name because she met a little girl named Jolene and thought it was a beautiful name.
She has also said it was about a young girl she met, named Jolene...she loved the name, had never heard it before, so kept repeating it to herself so she didn't forget the name and that's how the chorus came about...then she wrote the rest of the song...seems she's not exactly 100% sure how the song came about. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️

Jolene wasnt even the real name of the woman. She took that name from a little girl. Her story is that she signed an autograph for a little girl named Jolene and she told her she was going to write a song with her name because she loved it. And Jolene came to play. But sadly, I wouldn't wanna have a song talking how I almost took Dolly's husband away.
I think the story changes forwho she tells it to.
She changed the name and got the name from the little girl.
But she did mentioned "auburn hair" in the verses

Even if the woman cheats on her husband we blame the woman(appropriate in that regard) but if the man cheats it because the wife wasn't attentive enough or, the woman he cheated with is a $lut etc.. the man is not usually the person that gets the bulk of the blame. Why is that? I'm not mad about it because this doesn't affect me personally but, I just really don't understand. Do we hold men in such a low regard we think they are too stupid to make decisions? Just seems cruel to think of men that way.
