Soda in hand
Scanning the ground
Looking for a letter on the back of a bottle cap
He won it before
He’ll win it again
Twenty thousand dollars
A Hawaiian weekend
He says it’s not in how you find it
It’s all in how you look for it
Searching through each day
Guessing that it pays
He’s the bottle cap kid
Down the boulevard
In the rain
He sees the lights
He feels the pain
But walks on by
‘cause he knows what he’s looking for
On a bus lying in his lap
He has a shopping bag filled with bottle caps
Once he gets home
He’s going to find
That he’s won once more
Something in his eyes
Seems so hypnotized
He’s the bottle cap kid
His room is tuned
State of the art
He has a digital, computerized, bottle cap chart
Remote controlled windows
A robot, bar, TV.
And in his dreams there’s a place in his world
For a Coke machine
And a bottle cap girl
But he knows he’ll never find it
Until he starts to look for it.
