I remember his second home run with the Cubs very vividly, because I was there with my girlfriend at the time. She'd never seen baseball, and I was literally right in the middle of explaining to her why it was such a good thing that the #8 hitter got a base hit with two outs, so Jeff wouldn't have to lead off the next inning. She asked why that mattered, and as I was saying "Well, pitchers aren't good hitters, and now we don't have to start the next inning with an automatic ou-...." (CRACK!!!!) As everyone was going nuts around us, I said "you could go to a hundred baseball games and never see a pitcher hit a home run...and you just did in your very first game!" Damn, I kinda miss her now.
