I’m a retired machinist and have my own little machine shop. I’ve been using an iPad Pro for years now to draw prints to machine from. When I was in high school (many years ago) I took two years of drafting which were before the dawn of computers so all was done on paper and we even copied our prints by machine to blue prints back then. For several years as a machinist, we still read from blue prints, until plotter printers came out and those were still converted to blue prints for a while, obviously to save the original. But eventually they did away with blue prints and just sent the printed version. So it’s a dying trade as far a production goes. Nevertheless, I have decided to go back to the old ways and stir up my inner youth. You did a real bang up job explaining the adjustable triangle, and I for one really appreciate your effort. Not easy or quick. Took me forever to find a calculator with arctan. Also I'm very confused. The way I've seen is (height/distance)x100 to get incline percent. So I have 60cm height, 6m distance= 10% incline... but when I did it your way I got 5.7% incline. Also I have rise, slope, and degrees on my triangle, and have no idea which one to use. Please help? I have 1 more day to figure this out. :(
