Amit what to choose between SAP ABAP and SAP MM?
ABAP is a technical module where you need programming skills and you need to learn programming with ABAP. Whereas MM is a functional module where programming is not involved. You setup any functional module using the settings that MM allows as per client requirements. You can think of MM as no code development compared to ABAP. Now decide on what you want to do.

I have one query and I hope you can guide me on that. I've been working as SAP GATP consultant for past 3 years (total experience of 7 years) and I got an opportunity in another company to work on Kinaxis rapid response and Blue Younder. Should I consider this jump from SAP to these other solutions or stick to SAP?

You can jump but you will have to start from scratch. Also, SAP is one really popular ERP. The more seniority you have in SAP it is better your career and pocket. My advice will be to stick to SAP and become an Expert. Learn as much as possibly in-depth also and widely also. That will help you.

Thank you so much for your response. I had the same thoughts of continuing in SAP (as I do not want to scrap all my SAP knowledge) but had some doubts thinking what would be the future of SAP as a supply chain solution in the upcoming decade or so and is it better to switch lines now for a better future.

You have to do what you enjoy most. You worked in Sales and Marketing for 6 years then you changed to Software Dev. That is the reason you are struggling. Why dont you move into Sales and Marketing role within IT company. There you will find more happiness. Happiness in jobs also leads to success.

Suraj, it does not matter how old is the module. What matters is what is the market for that particular module? On the basis of that you should think. Also once you master one module. You should look at other modules you can master that way you will have more knowledge on SAP. That will be good for your career.

Hi Kashish, If you have any understanding or Financial Accounting then the scope is good. FICO is Financial Accounting and Costing or Controlling Module within SAP. If you are good with Finance and Accounting then you can do this module to get better opportunities as SAP Consultant.

SAP SD (Sales and Distribution) Module is a functional module. It will help you in understanding how SAP SD can be used for Distribution Companies. And SAP ABAP is programming in SAP. You can do that only if you know basic programming in some programming language like C, C++ or Java. So decide based on your interest. If you know programming and like it then doing certification in SAP ABAP will be fine. Otherwise you have to focus on Functional module like SAP SD.

FICO is all about Finance & Control. If you have knowledge of Finance & Control then you can learn SAP FICO. I feel it will require some experience or some kind of certification for such kind of jobs. Not sure what are the opportunities for freshers in this.

How PHP developer do SAP technology ?
To work on SAP you need to learn SAP. But if you are working on a project where the data is in SAP and you are building some web pages to show data or take some action using PHP programming then you need to use the RFC or API available in SAP for various integration. That may be a way to work on SAP as an integrator of SAP.

Yes, definitely - SAP Basis Consultant is more of a support role. So till there is SAP there will always be requirement of SAP Basis Consultant. In this role you have to support a SAP implementation, monitor performance, see that applications are running properly and troubleshoot if there is a problem. I am not sure about how to become a SAP Basis Consultant but I am sure you will find some course for the same.

In the end it is about the end user application you build with your programming skills and database skills. If you are programming language agnostic then you will do really well and get lot of opportunities.

Aditi, SAP has both programming modules and functional modules. If you are doing an MBA and you go into learning functional modules then it is possible to learn SAP. But if you want to get into programming then you need the basics of programming. Even without programming you can become a SAP consultant just by learning SAP functional modules.

I have come in contact with an institute in kochi which provides sap global certification and they claim placements are assured. I hope to get your input on whether SAP MM is a good option for me.
SAP MM does not need any programming. So yes it is good. Also as you are a Civil Engineer you will benefit becuase this module will be used a lot in the Real Estate or Civil Construction Industry.

Hello sir, अगर मै यूट्यूब से full stack web developer बनता हुं ओर कुछ सॉफ्टवेअर के 1-2 short term courses करता हू तो क्या मेरे skill and talent basis पे मुझे job मिल सकती है.मैने mechanical engineering कि है लेकीन मुझे physical problem आयी इसलिये 5-6 year मुझे recover होने मे time लगा Physical problem ki वजाह मै अभी मेकॅनिकल filed मे काम नही कर सकता इसिलिये वो filed से मुझे quite करना पडा है.pls answer me.I know it's not easy I mentally fully prepared to learn something new which is suitable to my situation and start new journey as soon as possible.
First do Web Development or Android Development and get a programming job. After that you can learn Full Stack Development. You can get a job but that depends on how you will convince the company that you have skills they need.
