    Hi Scott. That guitar is currently £850 here in the UK. It sounds great but it’s a bit over-priced I think. I sold a Gibson SG not so long ago for not much more than that new price. Just didn’t warm to it, although I love them in the hands of players like Tony, Angus and, of course, Derek Trucks. I have two ‘99 epiphone les Paul’s which I think are fantastic. One has the kind of action and feel players only dream of and the other has some amazing upgraded pickups so it sounds phenomenal, as well as having some serious mojo, being black with cream binding and a bigsby. 😍 Keep up the excellent work. I’m away now to steal some more of your Katana patches😀

      Sorry about that pricing, and you're right. I complained to Gibson about that last year, but didn't bother waiting very long. They recently dropped over here from $999 to $799 (about £630) - those of us suckers who bought one last year are a little irritated, but glad that others can enjoy them for less.

    My two cents, guitar looks like it is fun to play, sounds pretty good. Maybe wait and hope to get one second hand? The whole point of epiphone is to make the guitar accessible to people on a budget, or even the kids. If i had a guitar like this when i was 14 i would have flipped out.

    You nailed the tone, what were your settings? I have this guitar and the same pedal but your tone is closer. Thanks for the video

    I bought mine last fall and paid $200.00 more from zsounds, I really like this guitar the p-90s have a great sound to them completely different from my LPs and Strat , my only complaint is I cant keep the damn G string in tune its the only Epiphone Ive had this problem with. Any remedies please let me know. Great review !

    • @Guitarnivore
      @Guitarnivore Před 2 měsíci

      Have you changed the strings on it since you got it? If not, I would suggest changing them and give them a good stretch after the initial tuning and maybe lube the nut. G strings are always the odd ones that come out of tune first for some reason.

    Nice. Short and to the point.
    I have to agree about the upper strap button placement. I don't like it. But since it's a Tony Iommi replica, it looks right at least. I think my nut fell out when I replace the strings for the first time (it happened on two Epiphones I've bought). Sloppy QC.
    On the upside, I was blown away by the appearance on mine. The color is gorgeous. If someone covered the headstock and told me it was a Gibson (the hard poly finish notwithstanding), I would believe it. And the sound is phenomenal.

      The finish really is gorgeous. I enjoyed playing and reviewing it. I really did like the feel of the neck too. Thanks for watching!

    lets not be a dope.......the forward strapbutton on the horn is the way the SG needs to be.. i just purchased a IOMMI SG the other day.

      If that's where you prefer the strap button, that's great, but the button on the back down by the neck works better for me.

      @@Guitarnivore I have been wanting a P 90 SG for ever. They pretty much don’t feel right to me when using the guitar strap. When I noticed the iommi SG with the forward strap button on the horn, i purchased the guitar and is much more comfortable to play for me than the traditional location of the forward strap button. There is much less of a dive of the neck also

    I just got one because.. it’s an Sg and it had a fatter neck. I own two Gibby Sg’s that, strangely have thick necks too so I needed to get this one. Thin necks are for… other people. Anyroads. Plugged it into my ‘83 jcm 800. It rips your effing head of and the hum really wasn’t that bad. I think I really like this guitar but I hate the thick f’ing laquer they put on these guitars. Please stop putting that shit on beautiful guitars.
    For real, the frets, bindings, tuners, everything is actually way better than all my Gibsons. It’s bizar how good these guitars are built compared to real Gibsons.
    I think it’s a pretty great guitar for it’s pricepoint and Tony would swop it back in the 70’s.
    I mean. I have a 70’s les paul and the built quality is just horrible. Cheers! 🤘🏻😎

      I have a bunch, so I adapt to whatever I'm playing, but I've also come to enjoy the feel of a fat neck. But when you switch from a fat neck to a really thin neck, it makes it feel like a Uke.
