As a kid, London 2012 was the peak of gaming.
Yeah I miss this game so much
REAL
My first video game ever‼️ it will always hold a special place in my heart
Story mode is something that we always need in multiplayer games like in London 2012🥲
Oh YES!! I felt tingles on my back just from the melody alone and I still get goosebumps from the entire intro
5:05 I always loved the detail of Bowser pulling Jr. back from the edge a bit
I also love how Bowser keeps Jr. focused during the intro cutscene of festival mode in the 2010 winter games
M&S at the Olympic games 2012 was the best to me. Had many fun events and modes/features.
And Story.
Same
Agree. I also like the 2010 game both versions.
Vancouver 2010 and London 2012 were by far my favorite games of the entire series. the amount of nostalgia i feel whenever i see the openings and hear the music to them omg
2010 has a Great Solo Mode on DS.
☺️
I never got big into these games, but I always liked the concept and execution of these games.
The pink hedgehog is named Amy Rose
And Knuckles in an echidna.
Thanks! 😊
They really phoned it in on the Sochi 2014 game which is why the the intro was so shorts, they skipped 2018 but i forget why, probably had to do with the transition from switch to wii u.
I think Ubisoft secured the rights for the 2018 games in South Korea
OH, fun fact! There was either a gamepro magazine or some other thing altogether, and there was this parody advertisement for Mario and Sonic at the Hunger Games, and it was the most morbidly hilarious article in the whole thing. I really almost wish that it became a real thing, but alas, we are perhaps lucky that we dont have to hear the characters die over and over lmao
I would highly recommend watching the Sonic Frontiers boss fights/boss themes, including the ones from the Final Horizon DLC
I've had that idea in mind since you did the Metal Gear Rising vocal themes reaction
Let this sink in: Two game companies hire their mascot with superpowers(?) enter and compete in the Olympic Games almost every 2 years, winning gold and nothing else! I thought this was the best crossover Nintendo and Sega has ever done!
12:15 so yeah, you can thank Ubisoft for that. whenever the Olympics would roll around, Sega would obtain the game rights for them, and create the game for it. Ubisoft bought the Winter Olympics, and then just never gave them up (someone can correct me if I'm wrong.) I'd say that London was the last really great one. the first three were all on the Wii, and played very well into the motion controls, Then Sochi came out on the Wii U and they tried their best to incorporate the gamepad in some way but failed because it was the Wii U. Then Rio came out on the 3DS where for each event you could only pick Sonic, Mario, and 2 other characters from each franchise and sometimes a special character depending on the Event. Then the Wii U version rolled around a few months later. I don't remember most people talk about it (probably because the Wii U is cursed). Then the Tokyo Olympics came out but also SEGA made an official Tokyo 2020 Olympics game at the same time with just normal human characters. Tokyo is were they started allowing players to skip motion controls entirely and just use buttons (but also over complicated the motion controls for some reason.) As of right now we don't know if SEGA plans on making a 2024 because they always release them a few months before the start of the new year, so it would've been out by now. But considering Sonic Team have been trying to keep SEGASammy execs from drowning them for the past few years, I can't really blame them since their plate is probably full enough as it is.
You two really need to get more into the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.
So many games, shows, stories, characters, locations, lore, art, music, and much more to enjoy present throughout all of it.
(Double that when adding fancontent aswell, which the original creators actually support and encourage unlike Nintendo)
Yep. We loved the movies 🙂
The thing about Sonic and Mario racing is that Sonic always seems to be holding back his speed unless needed, but there was a game theory comparing Mario's speed in Super Mario Bros. to Sonic's speed in Sonic 1, and Mario was actually faster.
I remember all of these so well- especially London 2012. Also you guys really should look into the Sonic series more, there’s a lot to unpack there 😊
The Rio 2016 Olympics brought in some characters specifically from Sonic Lost World, and the Sonic Riders spin-offs. An interesting choice, even if it made some fans go "Why are they here and not so-and-so?"
They also brought in a character from outside the main Sonic continuity (Sticks the Badger)
Vancouver 2010 and London 2012 were (and continue to be) the best games in the series 🥇
5:12 this is the game I would play as a kid. I actually still have it.
6:10 this is Literally one of my favorite sports in the games.
😎🤘
What good memories for me. The first three games in particular touched my heart. Not just because I'm a Mario and Sonic fan, but also because I'm half Chinese, half British, and have close family living in Canada. Not only did I get to see the Olympics swap seamlessly between countries I would to some extent call home, but I got to experience it in a dream come true of Mario and Sonic finally coming together for competition.
I LOVE THESE GAMES, OMG I PLAYED ALL THE WII GAMES
😎🤘
You see, the DS and 3DS version story modes for all the games show the personality of Mario characters we don't see too often in games. Then, there's cross character interaction with Sonic characters. Everyone in gaming history seems to know each other outside of their own series. You see it in video games like this, movies like Wreck it Ralph, and in Series crossovers like Smash. They are also self-aware enough to know their game characters. Pretty cool, huh?
Speaking of Wreck it Ralph, Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed
You guys should 100% react to more sonic content, like some of the games and lore
Bowser is actually pretty dang fast for he’s size I’m just putting that out there
2014 olympics are a staple in my brain for a story I will put in the discord 😂
Only ever played the Winter one for the DS.
Sports games just weren’t for me.
But I think they all did fairly well as far as I remember hearing.
You should definitely look into more sonic related shows or games, especially with the 3rd movie coming this year.
The reason the Sochi Winter Olympics intro was lackluster was because in the wiiu era, Nintendo and Sega decided to use the series as a graphical showcase. Basically saying "Hey guys! We can make an intro with the in-game models and engine!" Which kinda made Rio awkward, Sochi lame, and both ultimately look worse than the first three on wii. Thankfully, Tokyo on Switch was a much needed improvement.
Thanks for the info on that 🙂
These games were my life and loved the mini game sport events
London 2012 for the Wii and Vancouver 2010 for the DS were absolute peak
The Mario & Sonic series.
As a superfan of Mario and a casual fan of Sonic, I rather like the idea of the two franchises meeting up to play the Olympics to see who's the best.
Beijing and Sochi aren't for me, but London is my favorite game on the Wii. I find Rio to be flawed but enjoyable while Tokyo is decently straightforward.
Haha...I see you two aren't familiar with some of the Sonic characters. To be fair, I didn't know about some of 'em prior to playing London 2012. Now Sonic is my fourth favorite game universe. That said, it has an...interesting...fandom online.
While I wholly enjoy the Olympic Games crossover, I wish that characters like Toad and Diddy Kong weren't just one-time guests in certain events.
Either way, I enjoyed seeing you guys react to these opening movies.
Pink Hedgehog name - Amy and Red Echidna - Knuckles
Aah~! Good memories~
My sister, cousins and I, always played the Olympic Winter Games 2010 when all our family get together in Christmas and the New Year's. 😊🥰🥳
I remember this game. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games. This was a cool game to play.
😎🤘
Too bad this series is no more, it has a soft spot in my heart.
Huh, so, the Mario & Sonic Openings were referring to the Olympic Games Series, i guess that makes more sense, I did kind of figure that being the case,
Was sort of hoping for the Mario & Sonic Anime Intros by LordTRex, but i guess that was hoping for too much, maybe another time?
Anyway, this was nice, I will look forward to next time.
Man the memories on Winter Olympic Games was the best one the story mode , games and characters 🔥🔥🔥🔥
mario and sonic at the rio 2016 olympic games all victory animations
I will and always love the Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games 2010 ❤
I played the 2008 Beijing on the DS, but 2010 Vancouver was my gem
Also, fun fact, the reason that there was no 2018 Winter Olympics is because Ubisoft brought the rights to make Winter Olympic games, therefore, SEGA not Nintendo has no right to make another Winter Olympics unless they buy the rights
Man this made me cry. I dont think yall understood how crazy the first gam was cuz it was a symbol of the end of the 90s mario and sonic beef cuz they haaaated each other. The music and the animation are amazing....until 2014 when they started using in game models and it was such a downgrade
Suggestions:
Super Mario Galaxy: All Library stories (I've suggested this before but still really want to see it)
Paper Mario Sticker Star & Paper Mario Color Splash: All Things
Wii and ds was peak for these games after that it became soulless just look at the intro for sochi 2014😂
I haven't played the Olympic Winter games on Wii in years
This series used up so many hours of my life when they came out. Wouldn't have it any other way.
😁
I. NEED.MORE.SONIC!!!!
M&S Olympic winter games 2010 is my favorite at all
8:20 "YOU ARE GOING TO BRAZIL!!!"
Bro, even metal sonic joined in.😂
Yep 😛
Please give us a another Mario and Sonic game please
Coooooool a mario and sonic react now i got all of them
I feel so old😂
Welcome to the club 😜
The main everyone favorite 4 girls in Mario and Sonic at the olympic games is Peach, Amy Rose, Daisy and Blaze the cat
Is it just me or Bucky is secretly a cat cuz he was purring at 2:55? Lol, more like growling.
I remember owning the first game and it had a bit of jank. But the intros are so jaw-dropping it's insane, at least the first 3 or so then I noticed a drop in quality. Anyway, I don't remember exactly when the Luigi Death Stare became a meme, but man he was pulling that off way early in 2008. That horse leap at 5:28 is hype af and it's definitely THE moment that's stuck out to me after all these years. I also loved the Mario & Sonic gals being queens together at 4:38, 5:38 and 6:59.
Please react to the sonic games promotion animations, they are so good !
My only exposure is Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games DS version. I enjoy the game.
The pink hedgehogs name is amy
I heard that Mario and Sonic Olympics is awesome the one on the Nintendo switch 2019
Try wuthering waves trailer
YEAH! 🎉🎉
🥳🥳
I wonder if they could make M&S at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games?
Paris 2024 olympics next Los Angeles!
Can’t believe LA is coming up 😳 glad we live outside the city 😅
For those games if i had to rate them i'd say that beijing was horrible on the wii but one of the best game on the DS , winter games were incredible on Wii and DS and London on the wii was the best of them all, i sadly hadn't played the last one but i still have good memories from those, (i wasn't expecting myself to almost cry seeing those intros again)
they seem to be skipping Paris 2024 tho, tho I think that game had it's last chance this June, it's probably not happening now, and it wouldn't make sense to release it in the winter / next year
I personally rather have another Winter Olympics as Sochi was literally the last one and I want to see what they can do with that in a post Tokyo Olympics world (if only SEGA can get the rights to make one again)
now with that said, to me, London is and has always been the best one in my opinion
but if the series was to end, Tokyo makes perfect sense to be that game, but I kinda hope to see another on the next system after the Nintendo Switch, but most of all I want a proper Mario and Sonic crossover game, like an action-platformer or something, even an rpg could work wonders, we already gotten a taste of what a Bowser and Eggman teamup story can be like with the story modes from the DS / 3DS and now Switch's versions, I want to see it outside of the Olympic Games too
React to Jacob Geller videos please.
nice
When are we getting apex legends at the Olympics 😆
Request to react to all FF7 Rebirth Synergy attacks PLSSSS
2020 one has a pretty bad roster well tbh is the case with lot of switch era games where they feel incomplete or lack as much content as their wii counterparts.
Super mario bros... Hidden secret
