@nesh2003 The exhaust brake does not stress the engine as much as full throttle, you can use it as much as you want. If the engine fails, it is likely that it had failed even if you have not used the exhaust brake. If you are running really heavy loads, you should use a truck with a retarder to make the brakes last longer.
Jake brake is a compression release type system manufactured by Jacobs Vehicle System. Scania exhaust brake works by blocking the exhaust flow. Volvo engine brake is like a combination of the two.
I want to do the same, but I only wish I could get in some nice truck like the Scanias. And if they use them here, they are mostly the straight six models or/and automatic.
But the mechanic told us not to use them very often and most my company trucks had remove them,well about the retarder im not really sure because i will use the lowest gear depending the slope and weight and does your truck equipped with retarder?mine is renault 385 1999 model.Truck safely
i dont use this anymore because it is not designed to be used under heavy weight cause its just putting to much stress to the engine and eventually fail them,i usually will get down hill by using low gear

I like the newer better, lower fuel consumption and more confortable. But scania 143 has best sound.
