I think when someone is brand new, especially new to the industry micromanagement is necessary. Once trust is built through good work habits and results then like you said the leash gets a little more slack
I worked for a micromanager in my last job and it was such a nightmare that I left and had to take a few months off to recover from it. Thankfully, I’m in a much healthier environment now where the quality of my work is appreciated and trusted.
