  • On route to Edinburgh from South Queensferry, we discovered the port, transportation options, and some fun things to do! Come along!
    Here at the Port Lowdown, we aim to create informative and entertaining videos about cruise port docks and ports-of-call for independent-minded travelers on a budget, who are looking for things “outside the usual”.

    Couple of things - The "pier" was for the ferries between the two Queensferries, North and South, which ceased after the first road bridge opened in the mid sixties.
    plus if you get on the train to go from Dalmeny to Edinburgh centre, you won't cross the bridge, as they're both south of the river.

      Thank you for that. Actually, I'll be there this summer and will be stopping there. I plan to shoot a follow up video about the train since I didn't have time before and I'll make note of that error. Thanks!

    Do you remember how much the bus transfer was per person?

    • @ThePortLowdown
      @ThePortLowdown  Před 6 měsíci

      It's 12 pounds for round trip tickets (drop off at St. Andrew Square), 6 for kids. We got the bus transfer and HOHO bus package for 28 pounds PP. Hope that helps!

    Edinburgh is pronounced "Edinburra " by all scots , also you failed to mention the Hawes inn were Robert Louis Stevenson wrote part of his book "Kidnapped " the hero of the book David Balfour was kidnapped from the Hawes inn .
    Meaning of museum is as follows, building in which objects of historical, scientific, artistic, or cultural interest are stored and exhibited . So your definition is correct, all museums are as you say a hodge spodge unless dedicated to only one particular subject .
    All the very best 👍

      Thanks for the feedback. Huh. I thought I DID pronounce it correctly - my error. Since this was our first time there, we couldn't cover much, but we ARE coming back (like, it's already booked for later this year) and will stash that info about Hawes Inn for next time. BTW I loved the museum there! I dare say it was my favorite of all the ones I visited on my UK cruise.
      Do you have any other suggestions? Anything off the beaten track that you would consider a must do?
