I had to get my daughter to Calgary about a month ago for a summer job and I drove us to Hamilton airport instead of Pearson. We walked into the Hamilton airport and proceeded to security (we checked in on online - Westjet). We were through security in less than 5 minutes (probably about 2 minutes). No delay on the tarmac either. It was literally when all passengers were aboard and luggage stored we took off. I flew back from Calgary and landed at Hamilton and walked into the airport and straight to the baggage claim and waited about 10 to 15 minutes for the luggage to arrive and then walked over to the parking payment machine and paid for my parking and then walked out to my car (right beside the airport doors). Most painless process I have ever encountered.

Now retired, I don't fly anywhere anymore, but when I did, the above mundane, peaceful, efficient performance of airports & airlines in Canada ten years ago was commonplace. Our "divine right of kings" aristocrats mismanaged the various Covid-induced shutdowns big time! We knew that eventually our airlines would fly again, but strangely none of the big guys made any contingency plans! A shameful example of elite privilege trumping ordinary common sense. The Trudeau Liberals were at the center of all this, & cannot deny at least partial responsibility for this mess. When is the next election? How can the love fest between the NDP & the Libs postpone an election? I hope Jagmeet Singh now appreciates that many of his original supporters will never vote for his party again. Mr. Poilievre may be young by modern standards, but he talks a good line. What could possibly be worse than our current corrupt Trudeau gov't? There is no shortage of wannabe politicans - let's allow some new talents to strut their stuff. If they don't have what it takes, replace them with the next in line. We need more, not less, churn in our politics. The incumbents have shown that they are incompetent. Let's throw them out & try some new blood - build up our reserves, so to speak.

Tried to find flights from Saskatoon to Billy Bishop a few days ago for a trip I'm taking next month. Figured I could avoid the Pearson airport disaster. Couldn't find any to Billy Bishop... I whole heartedly agree Pierre!

How about the problems with immigration Pierre???
If you want to be PM...
Announce you will put a temporary PAUSE on most immigration for at least three years.
It is a FACT that relentless mass immigration has lead to:
    - a housing bubble which destroys home ownership dreams for ALL young Canadians
    - an environmental disaster for ALL Canadians, as urban sprawl grows fast and far and wide, destroying green areas and farmland across the country
    - severe pressure Canada's health care system, education system, and infrastructure, which cannot cope with the enormous new numbers of migrants coming each and every year, hurting ALL Canadians
    - lower wages for ALL Canadians, while unemployment is consistently up to 10% in some provinces
    - significantly LOWER GDP per capita over the last ten years, leaving ALL Canadians worse off.
    - incessant greed from corporations and immigration lawyers, gorging on cheaper incoming labor and a larger consumer pie, without any regard for the negative longer-term consequences on the quality of life for ALL Canadians.
Almost ALL Canadians would agree that PAUSING most immigration for the next three years is the right thing to do, and you will be rewarded as the new PM for doing so.

The problem is illegal immigration legal immigration is fine and the fact that you would suggest such an extreme measure suggests ignorance if nothing else of our sub replacement fertility. Plus he has said all this time that he plans to help immigrants who are struggling. Maybe the the quota is too high, however that drastic of a reduction is too low.

How about focus on the most basic thing, making air travel accessible for everyone again rather than discussing expanding airports. We don't even get to recognize our right to travel throughout the country or in and out of Canada right now. Expand an airport? Get your priorities straight!

@@user-mm1vq3iy1b Oh, you just assume that is his position? Truth is, in all reality, he has completely ignored the topic for months. He has avoided interviews and he has snubbed further debate. He is so comfortable in his position as the frontrunner, he hasn't really done much of anything to earn the vote for months. He'll put out these videos, the earlier ones were better but these last two were complete panders to urban voters, and the last thing most of us want is another guy who is beholden to urban voters. The cities are the cancer in this country. They suck dry all the funding and they have power over the politics. High time we tore down what we have and rebuild and step one will stop expanding the infrastructure of the cities, and instead focus on developing the nation as a whole.
      His priorities should be:
      -Rights and Freedoms
      -National Unity
      -Economy
      -Lower taxes
      -Lower cost of living (gas/food/etc)
      -Resource development
In the meantime he is talking about an airport in a city most Canadians will avoid like the plague. He does it because that s-hole is overpopulated and gets an insanely disproportionate level of representation as a result.
