  • Continuing from the previous #Karatsu walk,
    I researched the historical background of Kagamiyama, Karatsu Castle, and Niji-no-Matsubara, which I had visited without much thought before.
    Here are some recent videos related to Karatsu:

    * Mt. Kagamiyama Observatory
    Mt. Kagamiyama stands at an elevation of 284 meters.
    It is a beautiful mountain with a flat top that looks trapezoidal from every angle.
    The mountain's name is said to come from Empress Jingū, who enshrined a mirror at the summit.
    Mt. Kagamiyama is also known for the "Legend of Sayo-hime of Matsura," one of Japan's three major legends alongside the "Legend of the Feathered Robe" and the "Urashima Legend."
    In the second year of Emperor Senka (537 AD), Ōtomono Sadehiko came to this area to aid Mimana and Baekje.
    He met and fell in love with "Sayo-hime," but on the day of their separation, Sayo-hime waved her scarf from the summit of Mt, Kagamiyama and eventually turned into stone out of sorrow.
    The mountain is also called "Hirefuriyama" (Scarf-Waving Mountain).
    From the observatory, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the national special scenic spot "Niji-no-Matsubara,"
    "Karatsu Castle," and Takashima, famous for Hoto Shrine, making it one of Karatsu's symbols.

    * Niji-no-Matsubara Pine Forest
    Facing Karatsu Bay, Niji-no-Matsubara is the largest of Japan's three major pine forests (Niji-no-Matsubara, Miho-no-Matsubara, and Kehi-no-Matsubara).
    It spans about 4.5 km in length and 500 meters in width, with approximately one million black pines growing densely.
    The first lord of the Karatsu Domain, Terasawa Hirotaka, planted black pines on the coastal dunes to protect the fields from sea breezes.
    In 1955, it was designated as the only special scenic spot as a pine forest in Japan, valued for its landscape of twisted pine trunks and branches.

    * Karatsu Castle
    The successive lords of Karatsu Domain began with the first lord, Terasawa Hirotaka, in 1594, and changed hands six times until the abolition of the domains in 1871.
    The foundations of Karatsu, including Karatsu Castle, were laid by the first lord, Terasawa Hirotaka. He distinguished himself in the Korean invasions of 1592 by transporting troops and supplies, building Karatsu Castle, planning the town layout, renovating the Matsuura River, and planting black pines (present-day Niji-no-Matsubara). Karatsu Castle was completed in 1608 after seven years of construction starting in 1602. The current castle structure was completed in 1966, incorporating Keicho-style architecture, and serves as a cultural and tourist facility. The castle keep houses a museum displaying historical artifacts related to Karatsu, including armor, scrolls, and Karatsu ware. The observation room on the top floor offers a 360° panoramic view, including Niji-no-Matsubara to the east, Karatsu Bay to the north, the castle town of Karatsu to the south, and Nishi-no-Hama leading to Oshima to the west.

    唐津城は邪馬台国論議において重要な位置を占めます。初代藩主はなんと寺澤氏??💧イト倭国の学説で有名な考古学者の寺澤薫先生はもしや??💧虹🌈の松島の東が二丈町でかつての天領地です。何故か古代の秘密を感じます。😅

    マツラ国の第一候補が呼子です。第二候補は平戸になります。壱岐島に向かうには、より西からスタートする必要性があつたのです。伊都国については、見解が分かれます。邪馬台国論争の結論は、なかなか出ないようです。??💧😅
