I'm always amazed how much Captain knows about boats. Ran-day is no slouch either.
Not sure if Ran-day does the editing too, but the informational texts, pictures, and highlights are great for the viewer.
WHO WANTS A CAPT. Q & RANDAY SCHOOL OF SAILING ?????
@@pornstarlivesmatter3319 I would patreon some Captain Q sailing lessons for sure
Youre videos always make my day. What I like most is that you never complain about defects and wear and tear. You always say, "It'll be fixed quickly". Thinking positively - it's much more fun that way. Please do an extra episode about that special tin food that is supposed to be laying around on every US boat... we don't have that stuff in Europe. Freixenet we have! Cheers :)
Seems you missed the biggest elephant in the room: the deck, deckhouse and cockpit are not original. This means the boat was a rebuild at some point; there has to be some story as to why it was all removed/replaced. Also, the starboard side forward rail/hull edge shows obvious signs of some distress, such as a rotting deck beam shelf, or similar. Caveat emptor.
Love Thursday’s with the Captain and Randay. ⛵️⛵️🥰
Happy to see your name up Kathleen... I think your algorithm work must have helped! Thanks for watching
These episodes make me feel the same way that Mr. Rogers did when I was a kid. I feel like I've seen them all but have never driven a boat and go on less than 1 per decade! (I dig when another tuber mentions The Captain Q, Yacht Hunter.)
Like when Maya from Sailing Magic Carpet gives the Capt a shout out from Europe....pretty cool..
Yaaaaaaaaaa! My Captain Q / Randay Fix right before I go sailing for the next 4 days to get my ASA certification :) SO. Happy!
Excellent!! Bon voyage!!
SO LUCKY! I WANT TO LEARN TO SAIL BEFORE I DIE AND I DON'T HAVE MUCH LONGER
@@pornstarlivesmatter3319 this was two years of waiting through a knee surgery, physical therapy and covid. Make a plan, do it!
Nicely done! That is a great deal, the engine and drive alone are worth the asking price. There is a boat for everyone, I hope someone finds this one perfect for them.
Best boat show on you tube. Thanks Capt. Q!
Thank you for posting about good old boats that need some love :)
Look at The Captain's socks!!! Love em. Such a great analysis Randy. You both make Thursday's wonderful. Thank you again for all of the fun you bring to us.
I liked how accessible the engine is. It seems like a boat as the Captain said that’s tired but is screaming to get more life put into it. When Captain Q and Randy were down below I kept envisioning that entire quarters all re-done with some nice quality dark wood. As always , it dosent take long to figure out the Captain “ knows his sh__” . I personally enjoy his reviews because not only is he entertaining but he’s also a excellent educator. I learn something new from him in every video. Your the man Captain Q . And kudos to Randy 👍👍 Cheers gentleman 🍺
Cheers, Rick and thanks for watching!
Looks like a good boat for someone who has some small boat sailing under their belt and is looking for that first step up. I would still drop it in the water for a short season to get a feel for how she sits on her lines, how the rig sits, how she feels under sail, etc. Then when you haul it you can make your list of what are the most important things she needs in order to sail a bit more ambitiously next season. Then lather, rinse, and repeat.
Thanks for the presentation as always.
A few carpentry skills wouldn’t hurt.
50 years ago you would have liked it🤣
You two are the best👍
Another amazing great episode. And as always a learning lesson 👍(the stainless mast compression support).
"Her bottom is quite fair..." a man who understands the world.
And great piano Jazz too.
Yes, it's another well done episode, but here's the problem, I want every boat you visit !... truly appreciate all the detailed video and content effort! ,there's so much great maritime (history, design, people etc + proper sailing cuisine and beverage) knowledge passed along!...who else does this or can do this? well , that's right no one so thank you again! - and when Seadog pays extra attention I really lean in :-)
Sea dog was smitten with that V-berth... catching some sunshine 😎
Give Randy 30 points for pointing out 50 years ago the boat would have been brand new. 😂. LOL
He gets seconds of DM on his plate tonight
@@YachtHunters @VonBluesman and a nice glass of that bilge wine!
That a nice little gem of sailboat that can use a little TLC. Ran-Day, I liked how you highlighted the part of the boat when Capt Q was describing it so eloquently.
Thanks again Captain Q and Randay. I really enjoy these segments!
Good to have you aboard (as usual) Thomas!
Thank you Captain and Ran-Day!
"On a rack in the back near the mantle with a candle for a handle" LOL
Love the Old Town Canoe in the background!!!
They are great... especially once you out a mast on one
Your assessment is spot on.
Really perfect project boat at the right price. Boom! Someone needs to give her 18 months of love and they won't be sorry!
Love the reference to Parlay!! Watched all the videos of them fixing their Lagoon 450. Actually inspired me to take on my boat project. Thanks for another great video Captain Q and Rand-ay
Thanks for yet another delightful daydream of sailing away. The two you do a great job mixing excellent info humor enjoy your shows
Captain Q has a Jag! Good for him man!!
Did you just say "Prismatic Coefficients" ??? I think maybe I've heard this term in the past but Wow! You just let that term flow in your discussion of this boat. You are amazing Captain Q. ~~~. Another (reason why) I am such a fan. ~~~ Wow... OOPs now time for another cup of coffee and another look at those IMOCA boats in that French race across the Atlantic. ~~~. I'll try again quick ~~~✨✨✨Prismatic Coefficients ✨✨✨ ~. Oh yea! ~. Whew.! Sweet boat. I'm sure long gone tho. (Thank you)
Zen and the art of sailboats.
A neat project boat, not for me, I don't have enough years left but for the right person a good project. My son in law bought a Pace Yacht PY23 a couple of years ago for $500 with a trailer, not bad for a boat that floats. Well see if he gets it done. Keep the good stuff coming Captain.
Any boat that floats is worth twice that, and twice again if it has a trailer.
Wonderful Show! Thank you both.
Always looking forward to Thursdays now! Thank you, Captain Q and Ran-day!
You guys are the best! Very enjoyable banter and so informative.
Another enjoyable bit of boat banter! Gents, it would be good to see some more Bluewater boats, it's been a while...
Coming right up
We love the show. We are learning much. Thanks so much.
Oh to be young, again! Loved the boat and the potential. Great episode Capt. Q
Thanks again for the education and entertainment.
Sweet, I as a young person getting into sailing would love something like this! This is pretty much what I've been looking for locally.
Thumbs up before watching because I know it going to be great. 👍👍👍👍
That’s very kind of you, Clay, thank you
Little hat tip to Parley Revival ⛵
I love the way you Americans say really old... I live in a village in Scotland that has buildings dating back to the 14th century.
hahaha exactly... 1950 is classic and old to us yanks!
Our first keel boat was a 1960 Tripp designed Seafarer Polaris 26. She had gorgeous lines.
Another great video, Cap! Thanks for the Landing School shoutout! Small Boats Class of ‘96 here. They program has grown a ton since then.
Very cool! great program
Love these videos I am learning so much about sail boats.
glad to have you aboard, David! thanks!
I keep feeling like moving back to the eastern seaboard, such lovely boats with an easy price.
Ran-Day was struggling to stay (camera) focused today. You need to keel haul him Captain Q, or make him darn your socks. Clearly he was distracted by the triple Dinty stash. I don't exactly know why, but this is one of my favourite boats so far.
G`day Captain Q and Ran-day, I love how you guy`s are so positive about all types of vessels, doesn't matter if is 400 grand or 2 grand. This yacht could/ would be a great boat , all the basics are there and for 5 grand common this is a bargain. With all the tools available today and materials get someone with motivation and some extra cash and time and here is your baby. If I was in the states this would be something to consider. You boys are serious legends. Another awesome vlog. See you next week lads
G’day Andrew! You’ve got that winning spirit... and we’re glad your aboard with us! Cheers
Kids should be rushing at this this little beauty! 5K, Wha!
Can you, on the off chance, find my 31' that I cut my bluewater teeth on, a Muira 31? They are arguably the most circumnavigated one-design out there, designed by American Oswald Berkemeyer, who designed this IOR to to meet the Cape to Rio minimum waterline of 29' I think?
There is always one for sale....they are bullet proof little budget cruisers, legendary offshore performance. Designed and built for the South African conditions.
Why can't we get Dinty Moore in Trinidad?
Why was the bubbly out of focus? Message to advertisers?
thanks for the weekly treat!
I will watch tomorrow morning, but I already know what to expect so already levying my 👍👍👍🍾🍾🍾
I thought for sure this one was gonna start sub-ten. Great video, learn a lot from watching them. Entertaining too!
What a great project boat. nice find...great content!
Thanks Carl!
I love your videos! I truly hope you can continue to find worthy boats to showcase.
We’ve got some really good ones in the queue... or is it Q? 😉
@@YachtHunters Thanks!
Great score and a sweet fixer upper day sailor for a energetic young man or woman!!!
Captain Q looks like he's wearing plus 4's. Very stylish!
Love the look of this boat, especially the interior. Only wish I had the money and the skills...
CAPT. Q: HAVE YOU EVER DONE A REVIEW OF A CRUSING catamaran?
Would love to see you toss one every now & then!
Catamarans are on our list but in short supply in our area... we'll keep looking! Thanks for watching
She is a boat worth working on. She is a classic. I hope she goes to to someone who understands that the "project" can be as much fun and gratifying as the actual sailing and owning. The best re-coring videos I have seen can be at CZcams channel Sail Life.
Nice ole sailboat I'd love in my backyard to pass the time of day with fresh cosmetics etc...Cheers guys.
That would be the perfect approach for this 👍👍
ALWAYS A GREAT SHOW
Thanks, aviators!
Great one Gentlemen !
Randy gets credit for that neat graphic highlighting? Really helpful. Your videos are really becoming highly polished.
The triple Dinty delight with a preceding honorable mention... Plus bubbly. It's Captain Q Time. I wonder how many of these boats have sold as a result of coverage?
Volvo bought those engines ,sprayed them green and charged an extra 3k . Bullet proof industrial engine. I have one in my 52 year old boat. The value in boats in the states is unbelievable.
My eyes usually find something not to like about boats with long overhangs but, my eyes like the lines of this one just fine. I'd sell that practically new Edson Wheel for a few bucks and find a real pretty piece of wood to make a tiller. Captain Q is right as always, somebody can buy that boat put it in their backyard and then magic happens like maybe...love. Or, maybe it's finding your inner rodent. “Believe me my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” So says Ratty to Mole in Kenneth Grahame's classic novel 'The Wind in the Willows'.
There’s a couple of young English guys who recently restored a very decrepit Swan 37 that would be good inspiration for anyone who takes this one on. She has sweet lines!
That LL Bean jacket is as much of a classic as Captain Q!
Would prefer the tiller personally. Open cockpit, little table is nice for partying.
Especially if you have a nice flip up tiller like we saw on the Herreshoff Marlins
@@YachtHunters I thought they all flip up. Not a fan of the wheel, Murphy laws.
I like the traveller location too.
Loads of horse power.
Pretty sweet hull shape for carving through the waves.
Pretty good find.
Hello 👋 I like that boat 🚢, .it looks like the design utilize area rule. Nice video thanks saludos
Awesome, shout out to another youtube channel.
Nice JAGUAR !
If it was not so far from Alabama I would take it as a project boat and my first sail boat.
Keep an eye out for a Tripp-Lentsch 29, designed by Bill Tripp, and bult by deVries-Lentsch in Vianen, Netherlands. Tripp considered it his Masterpiece. We owned No. 50, the last one that deVries-Lentsch built, for 26 years. deVries-Lentsch was a competitor of Camper-Nicholson in the UK, and Abeking-Rassmusen in Bremen, Germany for large expensive yachts. They wanted to get into that new - fiberglass - world so they had Fokker Aircraft Company as their fiberglass construction consultants. They built the Vianen plant to build the fiberglass boats and it was temperature and humidity controlled. Unfortunately, they were ahead of the new fibereglass boat curve; lost an order for one of their a big yachts; had liquidity problems; and declared bankruptcy. The T-L 29 was beautifully finished inside and outside; all teak and mahogany. Bill Tripp was an aircraft engineer and used aviation technology for designing his keels. I could easily pass 34 footers when sailing hard on the wind.
Would love to see a Q designed vessel, often wonder what the launch rail will deliver.
Well cap I'ts me again !! yes I'm out,!!! and ready to go. You know that would be a nice little project, you can build it YOUR WAY, that boat has a lot of charm, to small 4 me but never the less,,,,,,
Woo hoo !!!
Big Can of Dinty hidden under port side and there is cold duck in fridge
This boat is complete now 😏
Every boat should be a wanted boat... may she find her captain sooner rather than later. (P.S. Ran-Day, the camera seems to go in-and-out of focus lately... did it get splashed with sea water?) Keep up the good work and happy sails to the crew.
Maybe that bottle was already emptied? Hehe.
Hello all my friends who viewed you video are laughing 😅🤣 about the national 🐦 mosquito 🦟. Very creative. Saludos
Cheers
Hahaha, where’s my other 10 feet? I noticed Sea Dog didn’t beat you aboard today 😂
The Hinckley 41 is still my favorite of all!
Oodles+Dinty's ....This may very well be a breakthrough...
What a fun project! I wonder what it would cost to transport to Virginia...
always want a piece of property and then a nice pirate boat to plant there...
Enjoy the old boats looking for a chance at a new life.
The hull seems right.
If the Good Captain downs 1 bottle a week of his champagne of choice @ $10/bottle vs. a bottle of Dom @ 170, for a net savings of $8320/annum he'll be able to maintain the jag & PB in the style to which they are accustomed.
Parked out side the rehab
Buy that boat for 5k, put another 15k into it, and you’ll have a really nice boat worth about 12k. I know that sounds like a bad deal, but when it comes to boats and resale it’s really a pretty good representation of what it costs to own a boat. We’ve got about 15k into our boat and it’s worth probably about 8k, of course we aren’t selling so the joy we receive is priceless. SV Flekk
You GOT IT !! :-)
how does seadog always get there b4 u in the cockpit? love your videos
Now, I would buy a yacht from him. He is by for the best so far. If I am wrong link some others....
A 17 maybe, but max $3500 given the needed refit, new rig/sails and only 3 berths (I also had 3 too in my first dingy sailor, but it was only 20 feet).
PB for a handy man or woman.....price is fair..
You guys are a barrel of fun. Im not handy but if i was to buy how much would it cost to restore?
Captain do some trawlers and motor sailors please. Thanks 🙏🐻
Will do... we came close two weeks ago but it was sold before we could step on board.
I always look forward to the next episode. Well delivered, well done. The three of you make a great team. Had to throw in SeaDog
My kind of boat.. Though would prefer a stick to steer it.. Those round things in the middle of the cockpit take up too much space.. :) Though don’t want any guests on my boat anyway.. “Gertcha-Cowson” is the name I have in mind.. 😠😉
The pedestal has to be the first to go!
Now how to transport it?? any ideas Thanks
You mention having a survey. Is there a price range below which it's not cost effective to have a survey done?
If you had enough get up and go you could really make this boat get up and go. Unfortunately, my get up and go for these jobs got up and went years ago. I’d love to sail one of these in good shape, though. How’s the sailing up East? Mine was always Southern Calif.
It’s the very best in the country for a host of reasons
I would prefer a tiller with that boat but that is just me.
Osmosis ? Blisters ? Deck core ?
Two for scupper!
Another two-for!
