Sobrang crush ko si Randy nung Lunch Date era. Iniyakan ko talaga when the show ended. It lasted 7 years. Longer than any of Willie Revillame’s show or ABS’ noontime show except for It’s Showtime. Sa GMA lahat ng noontime show nagtagal - Student Canteen, Lunch Date, Eat Bulaga. Incidentally, nasa GMA na rin Showtime.
I tried going to Lunch Date’s 3rd anniversary pero hindi kami nakapasok kasi punong puno yung broadway. I was so sad…. Randy was a phenomenon during his peak. Para siyang AlDub nung late 80’s.
Also, Randy had a musical variety show sa GMA. Co host niya so Toni Rose. I think it was called Shades 🕶️
It’s sad that in all his recent interviews, walang nag bi bring up nitong highlight sa career niya. Laging shadow of his dad and yung family life niya. More intriga instead of Randy’s contribution to entertainment industry

I remember when I went home to visit the Philippines, the song "Bababaero" was on top of the chart . I asked my friends who sang that song coz it caught my ear lol... nicely done n just now that I found out you actually composed that song. Wow !!! Talented guy n jack of all trades!!! Napakabait nyan si kuya Randy! Npaka simple! Before his popularity- taga north greenhills na sila, of course dahil tatay nya si direk Pablo. I got hooked with him and going to his noontime show during HS!!! Then will follow him to his house every weekend then Saturday diretso kme sa ‘Shades!’ Saturday night tv program nya!!!
Every time may treat sya sa amin for a fan club party sa FPJ sa studios sa Frisco QC! He gave us so much fun memories and he showed how important all of us to him! That, we will always be grateful of how he is during the peak of his career!
Now living here in Europe after college grad (early 90’s) Randy Santiago kept his words since then- ‘HINDI MAGBABAGO!’ and you didn’t! Will love you for always!!! Willie R owe you a big time!!! He was totally unknown until you hooked him up in every gig! You are a blessings to others!!! ❤
Isa ako sa naloko kay Randy 😜 during that time na lagi akong napapagalitan ng tatay ko. I had the privilege na makita sya Student Canteen and after a while, nakita ko din sya dito sa San Diego. It was a great memory and so much fun to be a fan of Randy. Great to see him on this interview. Bless his heart and his family!
i was his ticket seller at his ratsky restaurant in bocobo malate i still remember he was singing babaero then something happened (troubled) but he didn't stop singing and the crowds didn't notice that commotion 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️

m a long time fan of Kuya RS since his prime yrs til today. We were 1 of d first few Fan Clubs (renamed as PEG) who witnessed his career. Those long lines in GMA, having gathering time at his PE office n his salon in Aurora Blvd with his sister Rhea. Staying late night til dawn at Hakee in Greenhills. Him playing Pool with the boys and Maricel S. at GreenLane. When he spends time with us hanging out with some drinks were d best memories I have with him. Thanks Kuya for remembering my name still after 30 some yrs past when we met back at 2016 and in Napa Valley last 2018.❤❤❤

I won't forget Kuya Chong Randy. 'Twas 1987 up to 1988 (Was 2nd year high school), I think when Hindi Magbabagjo became a Big Hit and was hailed as The Song of the Year for 2 consecutive years. At those years, my best friend and I became members of Kuya Randy's Fan Club so almost every Saturday when there's no school we would line up at Broadway and watch Lunch Date and then, would go back on Sundays to watch Shades😂😅. We have also watched Kuya Randy's 1st solo concert in Ultra titled, Private Eyes. During those times too, we have come to know the Hawie Boys (Kuya Randy's friends but also equally talented guys) and Kuya Willie was part of that group and was introduced to be a good drummer.
Kuya Randy has always been a humble person. There were also times when the Santiago's would have Weekend Fan Day usually held in FPJ Compund and the Santiago sibling's will be there also to have fun and animate with fans. There would be foods and games and remembers JunJun or Boss Railey to be as makulit and as humorous as Kuya Randy. And it's true, Raymart was more of the silent type. I also remember Kuya Randy's sister to be a really fine lady.
It was an acceptable fact for us, the fans, that Kuya Randy and Ate Maricel were in a relationship. I just did not realize that they were ON for a year!
Last time I saw Kuya Randy was at Ratsky in Malate before we migrated to North America. It has been 26 since I became a fan of Kuya Chong but I still remember the kilig and fondness. I super like Kuya Chong then and I still like and admire him even now...
