E.S. Slc I love this bike. I had it until last Aug. it got caught in flood water and was totaled by the insurance company. The power is great. The heat management is much better than the Panigale. It is the best Monster. The R is worth it, as the riding position is much more aggressive than the S or the regular Monster.

DUCATI SCREWED ME! I purchased a brand new Monster 1200S from Ducati/Hudson Valley Motors NY which was unexpectedly defective from the manufacturer. It would shift into neutral unexpectedly even when shifting up from 3rd or 4th. Could not shift into Neutral from a dead stop. I notified them, but was told the bike needed a break in period to the first fluid change and I was unfamiliar with Ducati. So I rode it wearily for 700 mile, had the oil changed and still nothing changed. Ducati kept the bike 4 times, but each time they said it was fixed, it wasn't. Finally, they agreed to repurchase the bike as unrepairable. But for pointing out the flaw, they penalized me by charging me for "damages" which even the service department had not reported all the times I brought it to be fixed only refunding me half of what I paid for their defective bike. DUCATI HAS NO INTEGRITY. IRRATIONAL PRIDE DOES NOT MAKE UP FOR MANUFACTURING INCOMPETENCE. I deserved to have a new bike and it was not my fault the bike was defective from the manufacturer!

That's unfortunate. I hope the dealership made things right.

@@gbarrett123 It was a fight, but eventually they acknowledged the issues and gave me almost a complete refund minus the aftermarket dealer stuff. All my motorcycling life, I had always lived to afford a top-of-the-line Ducati. If they had just owned up right from the beginning, I'd probably have one now. You've got to stand behind your product and own your mistakes. I respect a company which immediately steps up and owns whatever issue arises. I can accept that my problems with the shifter were likely not the usual Ducati experience, although I also know that high end racing engineering can sometimes be finicky.

@@kennethgarcia25 That sounds like a dealer issue. I would write to Ducuti North America. They are usually pretty responsive. It sucks that you had a problem. I will get another once my sons finish college. Two bike destroyed in four years is enough for me.

@@gbarrett123 Believe me I was in touch with Ducati America and Ducati Italy routinely from the beginning after the dealership would routinely be authorized do only do the minimum repair each time.
