My brother needed a bag after 4 surgeries from a hit and run accident, at Hopkins for 2 months. It's all new for him and us. The nurses at rehab replace the bag 2 or 3 times a day, don't have the right supplies, and started blaming him. One nurse had 24 patients one day, another day it was 14 patients per/nurse. We were afraid of infection. We called for a meeting with doctors, nurses, physical therapy, admin people, social worker, and it was good. They are very overworked, with no beds in hospitals and caregiving facilities. Patience is needed, but we're learning about supplies, etc. Seeing all the support, answers to questions, and tips are great.

Same for me constantly leaking my pouch is supposed to last three days, only once have I achieved three days, I had an operation two months ago, so it was a big shock ending up with emergency ileostomy. At first it leaked mostly nighttime so my sheets were constantly in the wash
I put kitchen roll in my pants just incase it leaks and I’m constantly checking to see what’s happening
It’s going to take me a long time to feel confident with my stoma pouch
