Revolution The Beatles

A cover we did of Revolution, one of the truly great Beatles tracks - and a Lennon masterpiece. To obtain the highly distorted guitar tone, Lennon and Harrison plugged directly into a fading desk channel on the Abbey Road console and turned up the gain. To achieve the same effect, I recorded the guitars directly using a 60s Vortexion tube mixer, dialled to 10, giving a brash tone.

How'd you record the bass?

Hi- bass was thru the Silverface Fender Bassman, mic’ed up using U47 clone. I wasn’t sure if Macca was recorded the same way as the guitars, so went with the option we use on the other videos. :)
