Love my Ariens. Have two of them. Up-State NY.
I have 2 Ariens snow throwers ... One 28" cut is over 40 years old and one 32 inch cut is over 30 years old. I live in the snow belt of New Brunswick, Canada. I do regular maintenance of both these machines. I have the utmost respect for Honda products but if we're looking at value for $s, sorry, it's a no brainer. No major parts died in all those years, no rust to speak of, and no, I'm not easy on these two warriors, so there ya have it.
I heard those older Ariens are some of the best machines made period. But i also heard the new ones are nothing like the older ones. built to be replaced. I of course dont have any experience with these just adding my dumb 2 cents.
I own an Ariens Deluxe with the larger engine and I love it. I compared it, feature-for-feature with a comparable Honda model and chose the Ariens. The Honda was nearly $1,000 more. Yes, Honda DOES make quality equipment BUT you pay for the name.
My old Arians never clogs and starts like a champ with one pull .
another snowblower pissing contest.. remember “dont eat the yellow snow”😂
I came for the video; stayed for the comments. He he
I own a 2003 Ariens 1128DLE pro (11.5hp) disc drive with battery start and impeller kit. No one commented on the Arien's which continually rode up (1") on the snow (just like mine does). That makes a huge difference in how you feel after fighting this "ride-up" after a few hours of use especially if you are much older than these guys. I added a weight kit (double plate) to keep the nose down. This Honda track model HS970 has a great advantage when going in a straight line but tougher to maneuver making turns. I'll bet I would be less fatigued at the end of a long day of clearing snow with the Honda track but at $1,000 more than my Ariens pro. One more thing. With my Clarence impeller kit installed, I can throw about 60 ft which is about as good as it gets.
My 1974 8/32 still kicks ass.
I just purchased a new Honda track drive, to replace an Areins, you can see the Areins is riding up on several inches of snow. Having used the Areins for 7 years I can attest to that. When I finished using the Areins, wearing light clothing, I would be soaking wet from sweat, doing the work the blower should have been doing.
Ariens Rapidtrak gives you the best of both worlds. Maneuverability of wheels and traction and anti-lift of tracks as you need it.
Go Ariens! Admittedly I really like both brands... But ended up with the Ariens Hydro Pro for much less than the Honda!
William Stewart agreed, its a big turd compared to other snowblower. when its on a un-even driveway, it can’t get traction. it struggles alot in wet snow. really not impressed
You're both delusional. I've ran both hondas an ariens an the ariens pro 28 420cc has the honda beat. You legit just watched it in this video, yet you still will talk shit. Yet cant afford either.
The Honda is a well-engineered machine with track drive and a hydrostatic transmission. It's also about twice the price of ariens.
Just go!
Painful to watch these idiots run these poor machines.
@Conny Ek my 11 horse 30 john deere would smoke the new machines. China junk
Didn’t know another video like mine lol. I did a Honda vs Ariens review
My old Honda hs928 Still kicks ass
Just like the Ariens, the old models were better. Ask a Honda mechanic today if they still recommend a Honda.
Hello from🇺🇸 Harrisburg Pennsylvania 🇺🇸 I have a 14 Yrs still working great wheel 28 Ins Ariens Snow Blower 924125-ST11528LE ,And thinking 🤔 on upgrading to a 32ins
PROFESSIONAL 32 HYDRO RAPIDTRAK , The area that I’m using it is city sidewalks ONLY THAT are flat no hills so my question to anyone who has owned a track Snowblower compared to a wheel snowblower which one do you prefer on flat surfaces ? ☃️❄️☃️
It was too much snow for the Honda to handle, but with tire chains and front weights it's no problem for the Ariens.
Ariens power
I love our Honda CRV for driving.... but for clearing the snow - it's Ariens !!!!!!!!
Wow! A typical snowblower runs at 3600 rpm, even if you are trying to blow 18 inches of snow, if the governor and throttle spring are adjusted correctly, your machine will still run at somewhat of a constant rpm. If you can't move at a constant speed, you're moving entirely too fast. Looks like these are running in 4 or 5 gear when they should be running in 1st gear. Under no circumstance should you run any machine like that, to each is own and people can run their machines however they please. But they have a governor for a reason. That reason being, when you start getting into deeper, heavier snow, it is going to want to bog down, when it does start to bog down the governor will adjust in order to keep that desired rpm that the engine is at before the load is put on it. I wouldn't let anyone run my snowblower like that. Even if it can't take moving at a slow constant speed, all you have to do is let off the drive lever slightly and let the auger catch up then continue on.
with snow like this. MOVE lol
Will you please specify the engine for the Ariens st CC because you can calculate horsepower from CC.
You say it's a A ARIENS ST!! BUT YOU DON'T SAY WHETHER IT'S THE ST DELUXE OR THE ST PRO!!
From the looks of it it looks like the ST deluxe zooming in the on the picture. If it's a deluxe it's 9 horsepower 254cc..
Non dovrebbero avere tutte e 2 6,3 kw di potenza ?
You would never be able to tell the Honda humpers in a millions years that an Ariens is equal to or better than their machine that they proudly paid twice the price for.
Ariens used to be good, now they're built cheap. They twist because of the thin cheap steel, the engines don't last, and don't age well at all. 20 years from now that Honda will still be working as in the video, you'd be on your 3rd or more value brand blower by then. When it comes to snowblowers, you can't touch the Honda's and Yamaha's, they're just built so much better.
@@WilliamStewart1 Never had any of these issues with an Ariens snow machine. My Honda Accord was a shitbox however.
@@toddjohnson7133 I'm not a Honda guy by any means when it comes to vehicles save for a few gems. When it comes to machinery though, they know how to make equipment that just works time and time again.
@@WilliamStewart1 When it comes to a snow throw...I've seen the same from Ariens. I'd rather support interests in this country than in Asia.
The Honda throws the snow alot further than Ariens that is why it's slower.
Smaller chute throws farther but processes less volume and takes longer. Looks great until compared side by side with a machine of greater capacity like the Ariens. If the operator of the Ariens would have locked it into track mode it would have done even better without rising up.. Both great machines.
@@ziks3000 I am not sure about the different modes of that older tracksystem from Ariens since I just spotted this is not Rapidtrak. Older Ariens track system and round handlebars=older 420cc PRO track
@@dagjohnsen upon further review you are right. That is a pro trak model, #926056. I think the track modes are the same except wheel mode on the rapid trak is travel mode on the pro trak. You still have to make sure that it's locked in the slot or it the auger will float. I wish the camera man would have been a couple steps back so the machines were in full view, but it doesn't appear to be floating.
First gear is too fast in the Ariens disc drive. Can’t really adjust it down either.
Hydro shines in deep snow like this.
@@dagjohnsen Yep, and you can easily adjust the speed on a friction disc as well. But Honda fanboys gonna fanboy.
The honda was not cutting as deep. The tracks let it float.
if there was anything that did not cut deep it was just the ariens and not the honda!
It's honda or nothing for me. It's like driving a tank. I love tanks. Especially in level 3 snow fall. Compact ice/snow.
I’ll make a video of my ariens deluxe 28” sho vs my Honda 1332 snowblower
ALSO MAKE A NOTE ABOUT ARIENS SNOW BLOWERS..
You stated the Honda still through it just as far!!
This is because Ariens focuses on THROWING MORE SNOW NOT FURTHER!!
If you look there's more snow coming out of the Ariens... More snow means it doesn't throw as far.
This happens because Ariens usually has bigger openings in the impeller and through the shoot. THEY EVEN HAVE TWO BELTS UNDER THE COVER PUSHING THE AUGER BECAUSE OF THIS.. BECAUSE THEY WANT TO MOVE MORE SNOW NOT FOCUSED ON THROWING IT FAR.. 45 FT IS FAR ENOUGH FOR JUST ABOUT ANYTHING!!
They also have bigger cups to throw more snow on the impellers.
People always get this wrong..
Ariens is the best of the best!!
Love mine sooooo much!! 3 years of hard service in Canada without any deception. Will surely buy again if they keep this great quality & all metal construction.
The video speaks for itself. Ariens snowblowers are no joke...if you can get them started. If you can, they’re workhorses.
That was weird.
Honda
The flow of the Honda is not greater, it's less. The Honda has greater distance but less volume or flow.
In the other video of this it clearly shows the dirt bag running back the honda has the hydrostatic lever halfway forward and throttle midway. What a joke
In this video Honda and Aries are full throttle and the forward speed it is the highest that this snow allows. Isn't a joke!
Thanks for the reply.
Please do another, I love these comparisons.
I wonder what would happen if both machines had simply been let to work without a human pushing them ?
If this is a race then the Ariens operator sucks. He operates it very slow at the 0:25 mark (long and slow motion ramming = less time throwing the snow). He only won because of his machine. The Honda guy is faster.
Lol that’s a user error on both machines, ariens uses Chinese engines now, that made in Japan Honda engine will outlast it by at least 15 yrs, plus the Honda will destroy that ariens in wet heavy snow, i say the outcome would be much different with 2 people who know how to properly use a snow blower
Yep. Honda engines last and last.I've had one on my pressure washer for over ten years and it runs as good now as new.
Not a very good comparison...you have a track unit vs a wheeled unit. Depsite the fact that the Ariens eventually pulled ahead the start was terrible trying to keep the bucket down from riding the drifts. Throw the Ariens RapidTrack 28 Hydro in the race with the bucket locked.
The Ariens is a rapidtrak hydro, but the operator doesn't seem to have it locked into trak mode or it wouldn't keep climbing up.
@@ziks3000 Actually it is not Rapidtrak but the older Track PRO with the old track system. Thats why it also have the round handlebars and not square. You can spot this if you look close at the start.
I prefer Honda snowblowers. I admit they're expensive but only if you buy them new. The older used ones work better than the new models. Good comparison, bad opertaors.
Choking Honda motor won’t last year.
That engine will last forever with bare bones maintenance providing it's not defective. Other than Yamaha, nobody can touch a Honda in the snowblower department.
John Deere >
Honda does not sound like it's at full throttle.
I've got the Ariens 28" SHO and it handles everything it's been up against here in NH. And we get some deep snow. I've had other brands and at some point, the shutes would clog especially at the end of the driveway at the snow banking. This SHO has never once clogged up on me. Imo I they are an awesome machine
I have a 20 year old Ariens 824, not one of their better models by any stretch, but even it doesn't clog and it's been very reliable.
