    Funny that there was such controversy about Amis book being excluded, a novel most don't remembers and is buried in the shadow of Ishiguro's classic.

      I’d like to know how Howard Jacobson criticized The remains of the day! I can’t hear his words because of my limited listening skills😢

      @@user-lw6dn8tn7p He said "(The remains of the day) ought to not be on the shortlist. I think its poorly written . I think very very basic lessons about how to put a sentence together, what ugly sounds to avoid. I think the plot is transparent. I think it's written in bad faith." And then he said the english never believed what their rulers told them exc... That's more or less what he said about the book.
