It's good to watch this series and it's never feel you to skip the contents. End could have been a better way.
There's nothing about my favorite character, Conrad Hensley in San Francisco, the Suicidal Freezer Unit, prison & his stoic philosophy awakening. That balanced out the greed & obscene luxury of Croker.
I noticed that too.... is it possible they dropped that part of the story altogether? WRONG!
Read the book decades ago. I actually worked in a ginormous "Suicidal Freezer Unit" in Honolulu so that part of the book really stuck to me. It was so strange to bust my ass like I was working on the North or South Pole and then punching out and riding a bus back home to Waikiki.

@@Teal_Seal also, the pace was really good, too. Nowadays, there's just too much extra fluff. I really like symbolism, but some directors really overuse it, and sometimes quality performances would serve the piece better. But, with Mrs. King's direction, I can just sit back and let the episodes entertain me without me having to work at it. It just flows well!

Interesting. I read that book a couple of times about 20 years ago and I wondered if anyone would ever try to make a show or movie out of it. There is SO MUCH going on in that book that I'm skeptical about how this is going to turn out but I gotta give it a try when it comes out.

@@punchkitty007 That was the part I was most skeptical about - How they were going to work in some whole side story about an unemployed guy getting his car impounded, ending up in prison, becoming a Stoic and escaping during an earthquake. I had a feeling that wasn't gonna make the cut.

A few provisos though - this is 'old white man' dinosaur and bad, which is told, not shown. Bankers white and wicked. Black man can hit a policeman, knock him unconscious and justifiable self defence is an acceptable plea for dismissal of charges - the cop was rough with his handling, but the protagonist in the situation was aggressive and uncooperative, even before the cops were called, parking monitors (traffic wardens here in the UK) are not known for their humane, flexibility side, suspect the same in generally true in the US, our protagonist was the jerk here.
Still an enjoyable watch.

@@jamiethomas6701 Nope, didn't. We all get pissed off at some things, but the guy 'lost it', how he reacted was a losing 'tactic' from the start, he should have tried to fight it legitimately. He should have been angry at the pickup driver who pushed his car into the red zone, not the poor sods enforcing the regulations.
