Drinking Juhlamokka from moccamaster is the most Finnish thing ever😁
From an Iittala mug. 😃
Yes
Marimekko or a Muumimug qualifes also 😂
Right after diving into snow before sauna!
something that I do every day.. twice... at least...
The snow isn't weird, it's just too cold :) There are a lot of words for snow in finnish as there are a lot of different kinds of snow. You can only make snowballs at around 0'C.
That makes sense lol we had no idea! Where we are from it snows but never gets that cold (:
@@kennedymthomas I'd call that a "powder snow", how it snows when it is cold (maybe around -10 and below Celsius) like people said it is "dry" crystalline snow (or ice rather) so it does not stick together as easily. At -20 and beyond snow usually falls as big perfect even cartoony looking ice crystals, I'm always in some sort of awe when I see it myself. It is less powdery because the crystals are like even 0.5 cm big even but it usually reflects light differently to smaller crystals and if there's enough of it on the ground which makes it look "sparkly" or "glittery" everywhere... well at least if there's some light sources.
All reindeer in Finland are both wild and tame, every reindeer is owned by a farmer but they are free to roam in the wild. Every reindeer is tagged so that you know who's it is.
That is really cool!! We loved seeing all the reindeer (:
The tags are so cool too. (you cut the "marks" to their ears, I own a few reindeer myself.😌@@kennedymthomas
11:07 Hi from Finland! The show doesn't stick together because it's so cold. It needs a little water in it to stick so you need temperatures close to freezing point for that to happen. When it becomes too cold all the water is frozen and it doesn't stick anymore.
Looks like a pretty nice airbnb indeed. Wood-burning sauna stove and whatnot, incredible!
-9 is only cool , not cold here in Finland😁
- 38 is cold. I've been camping in that kind of weather for several days.
My husband loves the cold! And I thought it was freezing! We absolutely love Finland 😂
Yes , that is cold and yours camping is fantastic job👍@@Rockxenez
It’s always entertaining to watch someone visit finland
amazing beautiful place
This looks like such an amazing trip! ❤ I love it! 😍
Wowza! What an amazing trip!
Just came across your channel. I enjoyed this video. It's pretty cool seeing Finland. I dated an exchange student from Finland years ago when I was in high school. 😂 I would love to travel there one day!! You guys are so lucky!!!
Bear in Finnish is karhu, so I was very confused when you kept saying that the airbnb is called ostella which doesn't mean bear but "to shop around" :D but then I realised the name must be Otsola (otso is old word for bear) and you just pronounced it weird :)
Now I know it’s Otsola lol! I’m glad you could understand what I meant to say (:
Pronounced it incorrectly.
Yeah! I was confused about that one too. How about name your air b'n'b as mesikämmen (another word for bear) and see how they pronounce it.
I love the snow!
Well of course i hope you enjoy your visit in Finland. Safe travels for you both.
wow very cute place
Hope you let the sauna warm up long enough and throw water on the rocks to get the hot steam!
Yes
7:05 It takes about 60 minutes to properly heat up the sauna and you will have to add some more firewood during that time. 🔥
first thing about finland u have to warm up sauna right if u get little löyly its nothing but u have to do it right 60-120 its good temperature for sauna
We definitely didn’t let it warm up enough the first time! After that we did let it warm up longer! That was my first time ever in a sauna & I absolutely loved it!! 😂
@@kennedymthomas U should also throw water on the stones too to get the steam "löyly"!
I'm glad to see that you had great time in my home country. Don't let this be the last trip to here. I recommend visiting southern Finland in summertime. That was really well chosen that you went to the north in winter.
We would love to visit again!! Hopefully sometime soon!! We were sad to leave (:
glad you enjoyed my country
Our country is amazing
We love Finland so much! We already want to go back!!
I hope you will see the northern lights next time.
I once set up a tent in Tankavaara village during the summer. In the morning, I was woken up by this weird munching sound. So, I slowly lift the zipper high enough, and the first thing I see is a tongue, a reindeer tongue, then a head. A reindeer was eating moss or lichen right in front of my tent opening. That reindeer wasn't even startled seeing me face to face. I was like - umm, ok, I'll put on some clothes now, so please let me out in a moment. Later I heard, that reindeer was one of the local celebs, he just liked to hang out there.
11:10 You cannot build a snowman unless the snow is close to 0 °C. When you visited the Santa, the temperature was -9 °C which is way too for snow to stick together.
Please clean the rear window before driving!!!
16:55 Glad to see that you had at least operable temperature for the sauna. Finnish sauna is supposed to have properly hot rocks instead of barely steaming ones.
How cool is that you see reideers but?
On kyllä hyvännäköstä lapissa
why are all the houses made of wood so cute
Just thinking that do you know that you are supposed to throw water on the rocks in the sauna...
lol we didn’t know we just poured it on! Next time we will throw it on the rocks!
Hi ! Is your dog named after Beren and Luthien story from a Silmarilion😊
He’s named after my mother in laws childhood dog! I have read Beren and Luthien and enjoyed it! (:
@@kennedymthomas Lovely story behind the name ❤️
Kennedy Thomas, where you from?
We are from the USA specifically Missouri! We are currently living in England (:
'Promo SM'
If you want to pronounce a difficult finnish word, try
"Raparperipiirakka", it is bluberrypie in english. Lots or R and P; sounds like a cussword 😂
No, blueberry pie is "mustikkapiirakka" !
Raparperi is rhubarb.
