  • After the technical stop in Port Louis, Mauritius we sail to France (even though still a long way from Europe) where we prepare for a very challenging crossing to Richard's Bay, South Africa

Go well, be safe. The entire South African coast is challenging and perhaps the most scary part of your great circle. But it has been done, so it can be done very well if you are patient to wait and fast on the water. Richardsbay is also a wonderful location for excursions on land, so no hurry, be happy.

Hi Mark! Saw the cat with a winged sail/parasail in the beginning in the video and this reminded me that you had such a sail as well on L52, but no on the Outremer. Could you please remind me why is it like that? What was your conclusion about winged sails? Too small benefit for the added complexity? Thank you, Alexander

The wing is supposed to provide more stability. In our experience these kind of sails don’t have a lot of advantage over normal symmetrical spinnakers at least not on a cat. And they are way more expensive and way more vulnerable

Safe travels, you guys. Epic road ahead. Mark, dont feel bad if you dont understand Asterix. It's full of play on words in French and Latin, plus lots of jokes about the Romans, and their invasion of France. Even the translations cant carry across the deligt and difficulty of this literary cult genre.
