    Love your desks! Between the two, which one do you prefer the best (if you had to choose?). I'm looking at Uplift as a option for me but am stuck between the very two desks you picked, and being that you have both and use both I wanted your take on it. I am a little concerned about stability [mostly in sitting position, and I probably will use standing infrequently, but still want adjustable desk so I can dial in the height depending on my needs or mood]. I'm also looking for a 72" version so my miles may vary I suppose.

    Great video review. You opened my eyes to the Laminate. I was back and forth with wood or laminate. The laminate looks better than I thought. The controls to increase or decrease hight is still a debate for me. The Commercial desk is what I am going for. I saw that you also put your feet up on the beam. Same reason I have decided on that. Overall, seriously speaking great review and you answered many of my questions and some I didn't know to think of. Keep up the great work.

    I received mines today. My desktop box was in the mailroom for the longest because I thought it was someone’s tv. Just looking at the box you would guess it was a tv. I have the T frame. It took about 2 hrs to put together with plenty of breaks within the two hours. Dont let all the screws and boxes worry you. It’s a simple project.

    I've been in the great debate on what to order. I need the commercial desk because I need the desk to sit lower, however I do not want the crossbar. I want to put file cabinet underneath, but with the crossbar of the commercial frame, you can't roll it all the way in because of the crossbar. I wish they would have had something in between to fit my needs.

    Just bought a monster of an UPLIFT L Shaped desk (84" x 80"). I've been working from home about 90% since COVID and wanted a space for if I build Legos so this was my choice. I will admit assembly was a bit of a bear but that's because I'm a dumbass and put everyone on the top ass backwards and had to build it a second time. No damage or anything happened and works like a dream and built like a tank. Mine is the laminate top since the desk I bought would have been over $5000 probably if it was solid wood. I am already digging the extra space and once I purchase longer power cables for my displays will enjoy the standing feature more

    Also, it warrants mentioning that there are the ‘T’ and ‘C’ configuration of the two legged desk.

  • @UTAH100
    @UTAH100 Před rokem

    Set to 2x speed- your welcome.
    3 legs allows for more travel but also the potential for more movement given the unavoidable slop between each leg. All things equal, *a 2 leg design (like on the commercial) is less shaky.* I have no need to raise it to 50.2" or park my car on top of it. They do this to pass certain office standards but it is not needed for most at home users. Inverted legs (thin on bottom) are less stable than having wider legs on the bottom. Look no further than the design of your local pyramid. They got that right.
    I have also researched a lot and will go with the Uplift V2 Commercial. The crossbar helps- more than the bracing on the regular V2- especially for side to side movement.
    *The ONLY way to really secure any standing desk is to latch it to the wall when extended.* I plan to do this. I will use a simple cleat on the wall and something like a 12" cleat or two in the back and maybe one on the side (I am in a corner.) Once these are locked down, I will be golden.
    Since I am on carpet, I will also use a wooden based under each leg. I will secure that wood (painted black) to the subfloor using screws. Doing this should eliminate about 90% of the movement with front to back rocking being the most problematic for most.
    I will buy my own solid wood top. Laminates and MDF do not hold screws well. Solid wood will also make the whole thing more stable since you are adding a truly rigid member which helps with structural integrity.
    You need a keyboard tray. Lifting weights is a good idea.

  • @janissevalenzuelaphotograp895

    Where did you buy this weight? Also what size is this desk?

  • @dja9900
    @dja9900 Před 3 lety +6

    Pretty sure the actual walnut is the better buy if you are worried about beating up your desk. Actual walnut can easily be repaired by sanding. A 1.5" solid walnut tabletop will probably last you a lifetime if you wanted it to. The cheaper veneer table tables scratch and damage much easier. Also have very little room for refinish if any at all.

    An interesting desk, but anything that can move 500+ lbs. sounds like it’s got some serious horse power behind it. If you have kids, or vulnerable adults living with you, then you’re putting an awful lot of trust into Uplift’s “Superior Anti-Collision System,” which I’m not even sure what that is or what it’s hardware encompasses because they don’t go into ANY more detail about it on their website.
    Cool desk, but I still got a lot of questions.

    TLDR: Uplift will not exchange a faulty leg on a 1 week old desk. They will not honor their 15 year warranty and I do not recommend them to a new standing desk user.
    I don't often make comments like this but I had a recent Uplift Desk experience that has bothered me.
    I decided to go with Uplift desks mostly because of the warranty and customer service experience that some spoke of, while I understand they are overpriced, quality and customer experience is important to me so I did not mind.
    My desk arrived less than a week ago and the right side leg was faulty out of the box it makes a knocking sound when lowered and my desk shakes back and forth. My girlfriend who shared my office labeled it as "annoying" without me telling her there was an issue and I agreed. I contacted their customer service team and provided them with pictures and a video that they require for proof, in the video you can clearly hear the knocking sound but it is difficult to tell the desk was shaking (filmed on my iphone). Here is their response:
    - "Good morning, I do appreciate the help. The warranty team did not notice an excess amount of movement or sounds. They did recommend if on carpet to loosen the Leveling Caps on the feet to give more support with the padding, and to possibly tighten the feet and legs. We do expect some movement in the desk. Please let me know if you have any questions or other details to share."
    I adjusted the feet and the shaking and knocking persisted. I found it to still be an issue prevalent enough to bother my girlfriend and I as I transitioned the desk. I sent the video to my brother who said that his uplift desk did not make a similar knocking noise and shake while being lowered. I asked the customer service rep if the leg was covered under warranty as I am looking for a leg exchange not a new free leg. This was there follow up:
    - "Good morning, The leg does have some sound as it lowers fully. The warranty team was unable to capture anything outside normal movement and sounds with the prior video. If you have any other details please let me know and I can help send it to the team to review. Please let me know if you have any questions."
    They charge a premium price and do not offer premium customer service or a premium product seemingly. I am just looking to swap my leg for another and was willing to cover shipping but their team will not cover a week old desk under their 15 year warranty, if you are considering uplift I would absolutely not recommend their company and if you have questions before you purchase PM me I would be happy to answer.
