- As I've made this video tonight, Sockeye rigs and Kokanee rigs are one and the same just different hook size! Anyways sorry if this is too basic for you seasoned anglers. But this rig puts fish on ICE.

No this would not work for Coho. For that I like an white ace hi fly or white and green hoochie , 11in Purple Haze dodger, 30lb flourocarbon 32-36in leader. 3-0, 4-0 hooks tip top hook with salted herring. Troll 2.5-3.5mph. My channel isn’t big enough for Amazon links yet but that is my goal! Appreciate your support!
Can also Use Spoon the Cookies n Cream spoon is what you 42in leader for that.

Thanks brother... new to the game. Would have not thought that a Kokanee rod would handle fat sockeyes but that just means I have all the gear when I hit Baker this year.
Hey thanks for stopping by and the comments:) It’s a ton of fun with the Kokanee rods! Just use a Medium/light otherwise you very well could break a rod. I’m thinking about giving it one last shot only 9days left this season. Tight lines!

That's interesting James. I usually feed a mono loop through eye then wind line around shank.
I do them same just use fluorocarbon, I think it’s a little more invisible in water and stiffer than mono for more whip. Give it a shot👍
Will do. My drug of choice for the main line is braid. People either love it or hate it, no real middle ground. I make spinners and willow leaf pop gear using cut crystal beads.

How do you like the Abu Garcia Max DLC reel? I had the Max Toro delivered last week and I ordered another Max DLC Saltwater from Japan that will be delivered on Monday.

I have the Toro as well love both of them! Battery lasts about 2 years, plenty of backbone for slow trolling with weight wouldn’t recommend much more than 6oz or fast trolling. Use Toro for that. That’s awesome! I hope to make an Alaska fishing trip next year!
Another question, why can I not find any depth charts for old baker lake area, it all says it's at 8ft am I reading it wrong or wrong map? You have been the most helpful so thanks!!
@@thefishingfienchannel7497 No Problem! Yeah it probably was only that deep until they damned it. I couldn’t find an updated chart either. I’ll tell you it gets to 150ft in some spots, for the most part you’ll be fishing at 50-120ft. If you have fish finder pay attention to it, there are some spot that can shallow up quick lots of stumps underground to snag on. Tight lines!
@@Fishfuzzlove Well i don’t have a finder so i tripled up on gear in case around what time should i be dropping down to 50ft, i know they stay pretty shallow at 4am? If not getting bites just drop down another increment of 10ft?
@@thefishingfienchannel7497 To me a fish finder is imperative otherwise you’re just fishing blind, it’s important for speed and fish marks. The marks tell you where they are at. But generally they will be shallow in the morning and then go deeper as the sun comes up usually by 9am on sunny days the bite gets tough. I would fish your rods at different depths to cover ground. Garmin Striker 4 is a great affordable finder if you can swing it.
@@Fishfuzzlove yea i thought so, ill have one for next year, but yes im definitely fishing blind this time. I was thinking a tighter spread and then just moving the whole spread down as the morning goes by.

That makes things trickier, can still get it done though. Are using down rigger or Lead? Generally fish are between 20-50ft. When the sun comes out they are going deeper. I recommend 4oz minimum getting down to 20-30ft then 6 to 8oz for getting down to 40-50ft or deeper. Also make sure to use turns just don’t go in straight line you’ll find it will often trigger a hit! Happy to answer any other questions, tight lines!

What lb test main line do you use?
I’ve got 10lb on one reel and 12lb on the other it’s my exact setup for Kokanee. 12lb just to see if I noticed difference in sensitivity which I really can’t tell, they both feel like you’ve got a Tuna when it’s a Kokanee rod😂
