A client has been diagnosed with bladder cancer and will need chemotherapy prior to the surgical experience. The client will be booked for a Portacath insertion in an Interventional radiology department. The scenario follows the client through admission to surgical day care, the radiology department for the procedure and the surgical day care for recovery and discharge.
This virtual simulation was developed as part of Colleges and Institutes Canada's Virtu-WIL project. This project was undertaken with the financial support of the Government of Canada.

Participation Safety and Fiction Contract: During the following virtual simulation,
you will interact with characters and a situation
that are based on real clinical encounters. Virtual
simulation fosters an environment for active
engagement in a relatively safe environment.
As the creators of the virtual simulation,
we do all we can to make the simulation
as real as possible. We do recognize that
some aspects are not realistic. As the learner,
we ask you to engage in the simulation, with
all the healthcare team members and the client,
as if they were real. Using these experiences this
way provides you with the best, active
learning opportunity possible.
