    MORE BAKING VIDEOS PLEASE!!
    also, a few tips from someone who loves to decorate cakes!
    - fondant and water don't mix, the water melts the fondant and continues to eat away at it for a while, use cornstarch or icing sugar to smooth it out and keep it from sticking to your hands
    - use the food coloring paint with alcohol as a medium so that you can conserve it. The alcohol will evaporate really fast leaving the color behind
    - do more baking videos cause they make me happy!

      Evan, it depends on the type of fondant. Regular fondant like this use cornstarch, powdered sugar, or piping gel. However marshmallow fondant can be applied and smoothed using water. Its also good to have a fondant smoother to really get it clean looking.

      Another tip, not everyone uses but its fun to use and might be useful to someone, is put some jam/marmalade to stick on the icing! Works wonders with fruit cake and sponges with jam already!

      @@JayofallTrades great advice. One thing one of my chef instructors told me is that cornstarch is always the last option, first should always be using a small piece of fondant to smooth. If texture is too dry, you can use some shortening to help.

    My mum decorated cakes for years... Best tip I can give is icing sugar (powdered sugar) is what you need to sprinkle on the counter top so the fondant doesn't stick when you roll it out... And also, don't use water to smooth out the fondant. Use the powdered sugar and rub with your hand, a lot!!! It friction and heat from your hand will smooth it out... And for the ruffles down the side... It's a matter of pressing them in the middle and smoothing straight down but also stretching at the same time from the base...

    Thank you so much!! I needed a good laugh. I had a really stressful week. I love your introduction the most ;). Great editing and humour. I would love to see you swatch and paint with the icing paint. Thank you again. Seriously needed to laugh and I feel so much better. Obviously I loved the whole video and the well done with the cake!!! Please try the chocolate molding, it is so much fun and I can laugh again for a change ;). Seriously these videos are so important because I usually watch art videos to learn how to do art, but with you, I just watch because I enjoy watching you even if you are not doing art. Having said that, please do more art vidoes!

    This video was chaos 😂 but it turned out pretty good in the end!
    I am a baker/cake decorator and I think people always think it’s easier than it is! My friend is an artist and tried her hand at cake decorating and it was a hot mess. She learned first hand how hard and time consuming it is.

    This was really fun to watch!! My mother actually used to own a bakery, and before her, my grandmother, so decorating cakes and other treats were a part of her job. She even did wedding cakes, and before we moved did a few orders a year for people, even though at that point she had sold the bakery. Now she just makes delicious birthday cakes lol, and if my younger siblings demand it, she decorates them.
    In January, for my sister's 14th birthday she even made a minion cake.

    Chloe, I think you should decorate a cake but only with the edible paints. I would love to see what you could create/paint on a cake. Either on fondant or a frosted cake that has been chilled in the refrigerator for an hour or so. When you refrigerate a frosted cake it hardens the frosting to make decorating/writing on it easier.

    This was awesome. You always achieve what you start out doing and art is subjective and also one person's flaws are another person's perfection. So yes awesome.

    Chloe does nailed it! Omg nailed it needs to do a season with like art youtubers!!
    Watch nailed it. You need to put buttercream between the cake and the fondant.

  • @malinbergvall
    @malinbergvall Před 3 lety

    The secret to getting the fondant smooth and sticking to the cake is to first cover the cake in icing. You'll get better tasting icing (buttercream) if you whip 500g butter with 25g vanilla sugar and 30g blueberry powder (for taste) until fluffy, then mix in 500g powdered sugar.
    Get the shape you want with the buttercream, put in the fridge to harden. Then smooth out any imperfections and cover with sugarpaste.
    When covering with sugarpaste, start by smoothing out the top to prevent trapping air bubbles. Then work your way down the sides. When you get to a wave, lift out the sugarpaste beneath it and smooth from the top a little bit at a time to prevent folds.
    Hope it helps!

    i would love more baking style videos theyre so fun!!!! i find candy melts easiest to use from the microwave, if u melt them in 20 second incriments and stir after each. i think that maybe water mixing with them might be causing them to sieze like chocolate would which is why some came out lumpier hehe this was so much fun your cake looked amazing

    • @MikuruChan123
      @MikuruChan123 Před 3 lety

      You're spot on! Candy melts are actually chocolate plus additional oils to make them a little more beginner friendly. Some people call them "self tempering" for that reason. So just like real chocolate, you shouldnt use water with it in case it seizes! Of course, there are instances where pastry chefs use water to make "water ganache" but general rule of thumb is water + chocolate = bad.
