So, fun fact. In Dragon Ball Legends' Story Mode. General Rilldo is given a substantial amount of character. Its funny how a good cluster of Legends players were admitting to feeling sad about his fate in the story.
For the short time I wanted to play it, damm they made Nappa sort of likeable instead of “the muscle that repeats he will destroy you over and over”. Him dozing off on the protagonist’s first encounter and Vegeta waking him up via shoulder nudge is engraved into my memory for some reason. And I also liked how when Shallot asks why is their training so extreme, instead of Nappa telling him to stop complaining (which he does but also-) or calling him a weakling with no further elaboration, he explains to him “bro, we gotta ABUSE the shit out of our biology if you want to get as strong as us as fast as possible. And wether you like it or not, it’s working!”
I used to think that exploring the universe and the power vacuum that Frieza left after his death would have been a fantastic premise for a continuation story. These episodes aren't very good at doing that.
Its y GT failed doing the adventure aspect that dragonball itself had back then cus honestly... 15 episodes that focuses on the dragonball side... I'm not gonna say it was perfect like maybe a couple episodes ig were ok from watching these reviews they did but the rest just was awful but now we reach to the Z portion of GT and well... its alright to say the least
Even super has managed that part better with the remnants of the frieza army trying to resurrect him (and succeding at that) and he having to rebuild his empire, we see the galactic patrol dealing with this shit and others It's far from perfect, it could have been explores more, but it's something
In some ways GT could have been an amazing story for Vegeta. Basically in Z we chart his entire story from Evil to Good (when all the "good" people are resurrected at the end of the Buu saga). Now that Vegeta has finally reformed himself, he now has to face up to the actions of his former life. Like for example, one Dragon Ball has them land on a planet Vegeta once purged and he sees the ruins he made long ago in a different way. Maybe on one planet he is arrested for his past misdeeds and goes to trial, only to reluctantly break out of prison to help save Earth (but still feels guilty of breaking out). Perhaps if Trunks was brought along in this hypothetical version, we watch his opinion of his father change, from once seeing him as a prideful and strong person, to getting hung up on the horrible man he once was. Later in the arc, Vegeta comes face to face with the Tuffles, whose ambitions for revenge against the Saiyans has led to Baby, who takes over Vegeta's body.
Which raises a weird point that how Frieza could rule anything when the villains around for GT are all Buu-ish level in strength at minimum. Kinda hard to rule above that while only a fraction of the power
We finally have the answer to the question "Who's stronger than Goku?" It's Off-screen Giru (which to me, an Italian, is still weird to call instead of Gil)
To be fair, that Pan episode is a lot like the Buu Saga It starts by saying “Look, Gohan and the gang can solve their own problems!” before they fail horribly and Goku has to solve it
@@ryanchase9332 Actually, no. Remember, the end of _Z_ takes place 10 years after the battle with Kid Buu, so Trunks was 18 there. And _GT_ takes place either 5 or 10 years after that, so Trunks is either 23 or 28 in _GT._

I find it funny that Trunks talks about maybe swapping out Pan when the show essentially demotes him to background status like, midway through the Baby arc. Not that much was lost there, though.
Scott: I don't want to spoil anything, but he does some cool stuff later on B roll: Screw that, I'm gonna show 'em I realize that's probably not the biggest thing he did, but I kind of just want his power to be screaming so hard he blows up a mountain and that's somehow a threat in this series.
17:41 “An entire generation who watched GT and never seen the first 15 episodes.” Admittedly me and as much as I love your guys reaction, I can see why Toonami and Funimation skipped the first 15 episodes originally.
I absolutely enjoy Pan...as a concept. Female quarter-Saiyan, whose grandparents include a hero beloved by the whole world and also Goku, putting a ton of expectations on her. I love her depictions in the modern stuff; heck, when I played DB Fusions on 3DS, she was almost always in my party. But Pan back in GT...well, I don't think I could say anything that TFS haven't already phrased better.
Ever since I was a kid watching GT desperately trying to convince myself that I liked this show, I've always wondered if this show would've worked better if it'd been Pan, Trunks and Goten instead of Goku.
Various fighters in the series have done some serious nonverbal communicating before, if Gohan and Krillin can spar psychically through meditation, you can't expect me to believe there was no other way to have this conversation and leave Pan out on it.
A lot of GT feels like it's being written on auto pilot. Part of me feels like that it wasn't out of any carelessness on the production staff for the most part, but that it was a mix of coming off of Dragonball Z and having to create a new series without anything to adapt from, and the pipeline probably wasn't prepared to go in that direction. It definetly doesn't help that the series came right after the end of Z, so they probably didn't have an adiquate amout of pre production time to prepare (while also having to rewrite the overarching story episodes in). It probably explains why there's several story decisions that take a lot of tropes from general stories and OG dragonball, but don't adjust the character dynamics to make them believable (Pan being mean to Giru like Bulma is given an adversarial relationship to Oolong, except Giru isn't given any qualities to deserve that treatment), though this is all just speculative thoughts/guesses. Was GT given a writing staff/pipleine on the level of other long running anime with more original stories (i.e. pokemon), or was it smaller than most?
I do remember as a kid watching DBGT on Toonami seeing the Rildo and Myu arc right off the bat and I saw the first several episodes later on when marketed as the "lost episodes". In which, I understand why they did that as some things in the early episodes made no sense to me. Like Goku, Pan, and Trunks sneaking around a city instead of just flying over everyone.
The Pan plot in the first episode of this batch makes a lot more sense when you realize this was the point of the show where the writers realized they mainly wanted to use Pan as a damsel-in-distress to be saved by the boys (actually true!)
So, I remember actually liking the entirety of that small piece of Planet M-2. I hope you cover all of it in a single episode just because of that. It felt like, personally that while the Baby Saga is often regarded as the "Start" of GT. THIS is actually where it really starts and Baby is actually in the upcoming episode's. I also remember really liking Rilldo's abilities, he has a cool transformation, cool abilities and a REALLY cool ability that I wish we got to see more of, but, ultimately. That's GT, a lot of unfinished Idea's or half-assed plot-lines.
I remember seeing Goku go to heaven at the end of GT and then getting hype once toonami announced "The Lost Episodes" of GT. My excitement quickly faded after a few weeks.
Look, i wouldn't care so much about Pan character being a nothing knockoff Bulma attempt, if Goku weren't so Apathetic towards HIS GRANDDAUGHTER!!! Goku may not know social cues, but he knows to love his family, and now your telling me he gives a huge FUCK about his own GRANDDAUGHTER, say whatever you want of Super, but that reaction of Goku learning Gohan is having a kid is precious

I am now 30 years old. You brought me comfort during some of the worst years of my life, and I am better off for it. Keep up the good work.
I find it funny that Trunks talks about maybe swapping out Pan when the show essentially demotes him to background status like, midway through the Baby arc. Not that much was lost there, though.
writers realising they didn't really actually NEED trunks ultimately and him not being the super cool and popular future trunks wasn't helping
Honestly I lowkey want tfs to make a gt abridged just to see if they are able to salvage this paycheck of a show and cook something nice up
They have coffee now?
THEY HAVE COFFEE NOW!
Trunks is 18 at the end of Z, and 23 here, so yeah nothing to worry about
Never watched the breaking bads so almost missed that it was a meme line you added and thought Bryan Cranston was actually in it.
All in favor for a coffee break in future GTFS episodes?
Scott: I don't want to spoil anything, but he does some cool stuff later on
B roll: Screw that, I'm gonna show 'em
I realize that's probably not the biggest thing he did, but I kind of just want his power to be screaming so hard he blows up a mountain and that's somehow a threat in this series.
17:41 “An entire generation who watched GT and never seen the first 15 episodes.”
Admittedly me and as much as I love your guys reaction, I can see why Toonami and Funimation skipped the first 15 episodes originally.
Remember folks, GOKU CAN SENSE KI TO A CERTAIN DEGREE SO HE POSSIBLY KNEW WHERE PAN WAS THE ENTIRE TIME
I wish General Rilldo got to be in more video games, especially the newer ones. He’d be fun in Xenoverse 2.
The blue areas in space are where there's air.
It was totally the doll guy. Nobody wants to test if Gohan will have a Chi-Chi reaction to a creepy guy undressing his daughter.
Ever since I was a kid watching GT desperately trying to convince myself that I liked this show, I've always wondered if this show would've worked better if it'd been Pan, Trunks and Goten instead of Goku.
This show is really wearing them BOTH down now.
The editor LOVES coffee? _Shocker!_
Seriously though, I love that you guys are going over GT.
I like that the thumbnails has Lani look progressively more tired with each new one episode.
Various fighters in the series have done some serious nonverbal communicating before, if Gohan and Krillin can spar psychically through meditation, you can't expect me to believe there was no other way to have this conversation and leave Pan out on it.
You are indeed legally allowed to thirst for Trunks, he is at least 19 years old at this point in time.
He's around 23 years old if I remember my timelines correctly
That smile after that first sip. I love that feeling.
This man and his bean soup
Rildo was renamed General Lock in the Blue Ocean dub
Yeah Toonami did air the rest of GT as "Lost Episodes" I remember it
A lot of GT feels like it's being written on auto pilot.
THE SIGMA EDIT LMAO Pure comedy gold, well done
Seeing lani with a dethklok shirt makes me so happy
I forgot how much of an NPC Goku is in GT, like it just seems like before he gets Super Saiyan 4 he is just there.
Man, this has been so much fun! I'm glad yall did this
Funny story I got into dragon ball when Nickelodeon did their run. Their showing of GT actually did start with the first episode
Can confirm, episode 16 was my first episode of GT.
10/10 if only for the Dethklok shirt
7:14 Grab a bucket, I'm the graphic that makes all the fans drool.
The Pan plot in the first episode of this batch makes a lot more sense when you realize this was the point of the show where the writers realized they mainly wanted to use Pan as a damsel-in-distress to be saved by the boys (actually true!)
Love how I can tell Lani not only also went to the babyklok tour but got the same 2 shirts I did
"The Androids where cyborgs to" thanks dbz
I appreciate your honest hilarious review of these episodes of DragonBall Goku Time. Please keep it up, guys.
