Graag gedaan Klaas, misschien moet ik weer eens wat meer tutorials gaan maken. Enjoy!
Frank, thanks for the demonstration. Classic bass lines to work from. I saw first hand those lines from both Smith and McGriff. I was fortunate to meet both of them when they were touring here in the States. Thanks for posting this and I look forward to whatever you post. Best wishes from Cincinnati, USA. BTW, my fav key is E flat.
Wow, I wish I’d had a chance to meet them! Thanks for sharing that!
I was very lucky. Met McGriff twice. I helped him once to unload his B-3 into a club from the back of his modified Hearse Cadillac. He drove the car himself. He played an unforgettable version of "Teach Me Tonight" that show. And believe it or not, I met Jimmy Smith on six separate occasions/shows. First time at Dummy Georges Jazz Room in Detroit MI and then a few times in Cincinnati, Ohio. I was just a big fan, but he knew I played. One time in between sets, he asked me to give him a ride back to the hotel he was staying at to change shirts. True story. That show he was playing with Kenny Burrell (guitar) and Stanley Turrentine (sax). He brought me back stage, during break, to meet those guys for few minutes. I never quite understood why he like me so much or did this, but he did and I was grateful for the opportunity. I think it's because he saw me front row and center to his shows and he started to recognize me. He would always tease me during his shows that he was going to have me come up to sit in for a tune, but he never did. I was sweating and nervous at all of his shows. And he was always laughing about it. Haha. He had me sit close to his B-3 so he could show me some of what he was doing. I will never forget it. And of course I witnessed his playing and the incredible musicians he had on stage. Always a different line-up when I saw him. And each time played with the best of the best.
Great video. Thanks...

Hi Frank, thanks again for these educational videos.
on the 3 walkin bass patterns can we use them for the cat by jimmy smits especially the last one ?
Thank you very much
The Cat is a blues and yes you could , but it has en different feel though, so I would play a different bass part but it’s possible for sure .
Hello Frank , great vidéo 👍🏼 , very good , Make one with griffin around , I will love it. Maybe someday I will contact you for a lesson.
I missed your message, but thanks for the suggestion !
More fire please Sir.
More McGriff tips please!!
Maybe so,e of his right hand signatures
I’ll see what I can do !
Excellent for me as a beginner but the notes are shown only in a split second so too fast for me to note.
