    MLB network really is missing the mechanical component to what Judge is doing. How he is able to get coiled early to not get beat by hard stuff, but still able to stay there and create torque as his barrel moves backward and stay turned to the second baseman area on off speed. He has perfected his craft. So Soft on his front foot for such a large guy allows his front foot to slightly adjust to the direction he wants to hit the ball.

      Ppl don’t talk about coiling enough. many young players just load by just putting weight on their back foot

      @@23ecoffey I did. But there is more than the hip. The tilt and rearward move of the barrel are the key. IMHO. It’s what allows for the hip work properly. They don’t talk about directionality with the front foot either. This is a solid breakdown. But doesn’t address the the key components that I think makes this great. The tilt and snap of the barrel that makes the coil work most efficiently.

      He doesn't use his foot to hit the ball where he wants it. He hits the ball where it's pitched and he lets the ball travel deeper in the zone to go opposite field, when the baseball is in you swing sooner as the natural rotation of the barrel dictates where the ball is hit. Same swing every time, thinking up the middle allowing the barrel to work behind the baseball.

    • @idaho5k736
      @idaho5k736 Před rokem

      @@josephcox3091 number one. I didn’t say he uses his front foot to hit. His front foot will land according based on where the pitch is because of his rear legged launch and the turn it provides. Two, they do work to be behind the baseball. But they don’t have time in real game to solely focus on where the ball is pitched like they might in BP. They usually pick a half (including the middle half) and launch their barrel. Guys hit middle pitches over left and right center field walls all the time. And pull them as well due to the launch, not where it is pitched.

    he popped up that last home run. his 35 inch bat does a lot of the work cuz he is a monster and can handle that. his swing is gorgeous. the man does everything right in the box.

    You thought he might get off to a slow start and then you saw his 1st AB 2nd pitch in the 1st game of the season? Great breakdown by the one and only D~Ro. The guy needs to be managing very soon.

    I think that as much as he hits for power, he's now focused on making contact. You can see him later in the count planting his left foot with no kick to speak of. Jomboy has a great analysis of that.

    Strength and size doesn’t replace skill the man has found a perfect balance there’s been stronger and more muscular guys in the mlb strength will only get you so far it’s all about the technique and hand eye coordination he has one of the greatest swings the game has seen without those mechanics he wouldn’t have nearly half as many home runs as he has to date

    • @ronmexico7256
      @ronmexico7256 Před rokem +3

      Avg exit velocity is the biggest indicator of power and Judge was first last year. There were a few guys who had a higher max, but nobody drive the ball further more consistently. Cruz’s max is pretty crazy though 😮
