- Beeline bus gets himself stuck on Tuckahoe Road during the snow storm on 12/19. Conditions were pretty bad for a while. After spinning em til they smoked, the driver gets help from a sander, and then finally some chains.

Well, the difference is the NEWER Orion 05.501 #601-704 series has Cummins ISM engines, which in my opinion have more power than the DD50 engines.
The flexies were gone after 2008 because of the EPA's ban on 2 stroke diesel engines. The flexies had Detroit Diesel 6v92s. I miss the sound of them screaming up Tuckahoe Rd.
the driver did a great job. send him my regards.
That poor Orion V, I guess its hard to drive buses in the snow.
Series 50 / B400R5 combo
Wow listen to how tough this sounds!!!
and hey, remember the old MAN artics from the 80s? now there's a hell of a bus.
I remember being scared of them when I was a kid.
In Edmonton, Canada we just got a big snow storm overnight and I saw a couple of busses and cars stuck the same ,ore or less the same way on my way to work.
I agree about the Neos, but all articulated buses around these parts are "pushers", meaning the drive wheels are way the hell in the back. NYC MTA uses New Flyer artics, which are also pushers. Articulated buses that use the "B" axle as drive wheels (pullers) are rare around here, and seem to be more prone to problems, and can't do the low floor deal, which seem to be the norm in the latest metro bus contracts.
Orion 5 Rules!!!!!!!!
That Orion really got balls to get outta there by going over curb. Thats got to be a mid-late 90 model bus.
they are still around, not made but still allowed to be used.
I can imagine. He was stuck at least 45 minutes. I walked to the pizza place and had a slice between the first part of the video and where he gets out.
had the same basic thing happen to me on the 19th as well in Michigan.... snow was way deep. but with the gillig i just floored it to melt a few inches of snow, backed up and gun it up the hill. and you are righe it is a helpless feeling. ( i called a road supervisor and he said I was number 7 on the stuck bus list. ) I sure as heck feel for this driver
These buses are tough. A lot of people underestimate them. I know the are capable of doing this, because I've experience this. (No I am not a driver, i am a student.)
As a driver, that's got to be a really helpless feeling. No pickup truck can pull out something that heavy. You know, those buses weigh something like 14 tons. It was really cool that guy helped and got him out. Meanwhile waaaay up the route, someone's wondering, "gee, wonder why the bus is late tonight?".
2:39 the man helping yelled "DON'T STOP!!!!" lol
Those 400s were great buses until the MTA got them and ran them into the ground
How?
Darn He's been stuck in that snow for a while
Yeah 10 years !
thats crazy. Im glad the bus & the operator got some help. Wow yall guys back east got a LOT of snow.
Bee Line has some nice buses!
Poor bus! He can't help himself, he's just a fricken bus for corn sake!
I dont remember which one were the Neoplan AN460 model. Any Pics? If they are the articulated ones, we can't have them here. There were some in the 80's, but did not last because many of the streets here could not accommodate them. Many of the turns are a little to tight for them. Pretty soon the bus company has to retire 1997 models, and there are no buses to replace those. And NovaBus is only working canadian market with LFS, and the 24 here, 16 are gone!
These buses are currently spending their last years on the MTA under MTA Bus. This bus, #440 is currently MTA Bus #140, assigned to LaGuardia Depot.
I must say, this is why Bee-Line Buses shut down during snowstorms because there are just so many hills and so much snow that they can't keep up. Glad the driver was able to get out.
On a side note, I see that was Orion 05.501 #440. How did the Orion 05.501 #600s series do? They have a lot more power in their engines.
@ARTICULATED450 This is TheHat, yo! that was you. WOW that sucks. THe MCI's don't do too much better either. I feel you pain.
@ARTICULATED450 whats the top speed on a bus like that?
these are with MTA Bus at Baisley Park and Laguardia Depots (we need them at Far Rockaway Depot)
They aren’t
You mean the Ex-BeeLine buses
This is an Actual Beeline bus
tuckahoe at bronxville road. just east of central ave.
Will Smith advertisement WIN!!!
Bring those Orion Buses to san Juan Puerto Rico! The 2004+2005+2007 models here, about 95 in total, 40 are dead! Overheated, caught fire, transmissions break, bad suspension and already have Rust on the roofs of great many of them. DaimlerChrysler Owns them. Im not a driver, but know a good amount of drivers and really do not like Orion Buses. Novabus, Gilig and Flxible Were the best ones out there! Plus they cant go through deep water, where here roads flood
doin a burn out there
0:15 Route 8: You Tuckahoe. Route 8: Tuckahoe.
I assure you, that wasn't me, that was the bus!
What's the difference in engines? Aren't they both DD series 50's?
isnt MTA bus getting some Bee Line 05s
Yeah, same ones as the one in this video
god dam winter huh...what ya gonna do.
where on tuchohoe...
@qwandiddy call the STM n tell them that, cause I really dont think they give a shit about these amazing Classics. Theyre gonna do the same thing with those buses like the did with the fishbowls.
@PinePowerLI sad how that happens. that engine is an eagle diesel engine i know the sound anywhere since most all the buses where i live 30, 40 and 60 foot buses all have eagle engines. the shorter buses have the smaller eagle and the bigger buses have the bigger engine. to bad most of all the buses have a retarder making the bus lag from a dead stop. i wish they could start moving the second they give it gas not 5 to 10 seconds then go.
bus burn outr??????????????????????
They use a truck to push the bus
I know I'm just saying it in the comments
