The problem lies in the fact that Peter can NEVER separate himself from the Anti-Venom. If I remember rightly, it’s bonded to his white blood cells.

Personally I think the Anti-Venom suit is a great resolution.
Not every difficult choice a hero has to make should be a net neutral at best. Sometimes it’s nice to see a character make a choice that seemingly weakens them come back to help them in the end.
Anti Venom is the culmination of all of Peters actions as Spider-Man. From giving second chances, to teaching miles, and of course leaving the Symbiote behind, and even that needed the other two to even happen.
Let this Spider-Man be his own Spider-Man. OP Anti Venom powers and all. Getting rid of it would completely invalidate this entire game from a gameplay perspective. He got the arms from Ock, he gets the Symbiote from Venom. A key aspect of this Peter his him learning and becoming stronger as a direct result of his villains.

I agree. Also, from a gameplay perspective, he needs something to separate him from miles, and the arms just aren't enough. I prefer this peter as a character over this miles, his voice, his jokes, his style. But before he gets the symbiote, i much prefer playing as miles because he's just more fun. Once pete gets the symbiote, though, he's much more fun to play as than miles imo
Agreed! Some people would argue having Peter keep the the Anti-Venom suit and powers it would make him OP. But really, it wouldn’t make sense to have him get rid of it because this suit helps distinguish himself from Miles a lot more and makes more of his protégé’ sequel in terms of power and abilities.
Plus it would also be a waste to not use these abilities again in the future games as many people, (myself included) believe these are the BEST ones to use in the game.
P.S I don’t think Insomniac would just forget about the Anti-Venom suit or it’s powers anyway, because they care about consistency and always delivering the best to they’re fans whenever they can.

I see the Anti Venom suit as the culmination of Peter’s journey. The Venom symbiote brought all of Peter’s trauma that he was trying to hide to the surface. He wasn’t properly healing and it was only with the help of Peter’s support system that he was able to finally start healing himself before he could heal his friend. It also symbolizes that after the pain Peter went through he won’t have to go through that again.
P.S. The idea of more creative web attacks would be cool but it’s pretty clear they’re saving that for Silk. Peter keeping Anti Venom from a gameplay perspective helps distinguish him and it doesn’t take away the pain he had to go through to get to this point.
I see it more as a culmination and a reward of Mies learning to let go of his hate for Mr. Negative, but that works equally well

Honestly i wish in the next spiderman peter can do web attacks similar to web of shadows or shattered dimension not to the same extent as silk due to her having organic webs and he doesn't but strong enough to stagger physically stronger foess

If we're being honest, I hope they keep Cindy Moon as a side character not a Spider-Person, since 3 of them in one game is too much to be honest, and they barely fit a 2 Spider-Man story in this game
My main gripe is that we don't really get to hear Peter's thoughts about the Anti-Venom suit. Maybe if the end of the game was longer, we could've have gotten that.... 🤔

My brother in spandex tights, Mister Negative was the one who enabled Brock's Anti-Venom powers to begin with in its first appearance in the comics.
We saw both the symbiote & Mister Negative make an appearance in the first game in 2018.
That is neither forced nor sloppy, that is five whole years' worth of foreshadowing.
As far as the mechanical spider arms not being as strong as the symbiote or the bio-electricity goes, have you considered that you just didn't give them as much of a chance? Especially since you confessed that you immediately dumped all your points into symbiote skills and didn't touch the mechanical arms side of the skill tree?
For example, I greatly prefer Spider Rush over Symbiote Strike. Both abilities have Peter dash forward & scoop enemies up, and both web enemies to the wall instantly downing them if the move gets them close enough, however, at the end of each move, Symbiote Strike pops enemies up into the air vertically, while Spider Rush flings enemies incredibly far forwards, making it wildly more effective at instantly incapacitating enemies.
And this whole mentality about "returning to the status quo" you keep going on about?
That kind of thinking is what drove the current comics into the terrible spot they're in today.

Yeah, I was gonna say the arms are cool as hell. In some ways, even cooler than the symbiote. Don’t get me wrong, the symbiote was definitely the star of this entry, but using the arms with the comic Iron Spider suit and the Superior suit was just so satisfying!
there was so much they could have done with the arms too, and it was so annoying how they felt the need to have either all of them come out or none of them come out, like the backflip kick peter does, they could have countered his momentum by crawling towards peter's target during the flip allowing peter to remain on the offensive, restrained people to keep them rom hurting him, grabbed people's guns, crawled for him while he's fighting on walls and ceilings, employing exactly the amount of arms that are needed for a given task, showing peter's experience enabling advanced improvisation and multitasking, how did no way home of all things do the arms more justice than this entire game?
The fact Peter has a anti venom symbiote forever is amazing he overcame the original black suit and venom and is able to make anti venom part the best parts of the symbiote but he is in total control that alone makes this story ark amazing to me the fact he can keep the power of the black suit but not have to worry about loosing himself that is a finished story the explanation is just obvious we don’t need them to tell us the details we just use common sense
The reason why the black suit storyline works well is because it reflects real life addiction. Peter starts to become addicted to the black suit because it makes him feel stronger and better, and he feels like hes nothing without it. But the suit is making him angrier and more aggressive to his friends and family. When peter removes the black suit its such a powerfull moment because it symbolises overcoming addiction, but when you add anti venom it doesnt work because it removes the real life side of it, its the same as giving an ex meth addict this "new" meth that has all the positives and no negatives, its lazy writing and it undermines the conclusion of the black suit.

Miles,mj ect= friends of the addicted
Peter overcomes the symbiote with the help of his friends= the addicted overcomes his addiction with the help of his friends

Honestly i think that giving Peter Anti-Venom powers permanently is one of the most genius and coolest upgrades ever, even more cooler is that they literally became part of himself, making this version of Spider-Man way more stronger than he already was.

AV is extremely strong in comics, and acts basically the same way. Near unkillable unless something very extreme happens, can’t be shared, can’t really be removed, and most importantly can heal which is very important assuming this becomes Pete’s “Thing” for the rest of the series which I hope it does. I think he still has it and personally I like that, Pete needs something to make him stand out in 3 especially if silk comes along and this is a really fun way to cap off the symbiote arc in a way that’s really never been done before. Pete always looses the symbiote and now we finally have a story where he keeps it. I get how in the context of the game this doesn’t feel right but for the character as a whole this is basically Independence Day for symbiote spidey/Antivenom fans (remember- AV keeps getting killed off in comics so it’s barely around).
Personally I’m in the boat that Pete should keep this for the long run, it can get expanded upon in dlc and the third and it’s a nice thing to make him stand out in the wider spiderverse
but this is not main marvel comics, insomnaic will do their own thing.
Peter doesn't really need a 'thing' tbh. If Silk comes in, she's just another addition, Miles has bio-electricity, she can shot webs from her fingers, Peter is physically the strongest, fastest of them all, that's his thing. It doesn't have to be an illusion thing, or something visual and flashy like AV tendrils, or electricity to get him to be proven as a strong member of the team.
@@fernosbonos5394 They still follow a lot of key points from the comics in terms of abilities, and I would hope that they’ll flesh out Antivenom considering that they even admitted it largely came out of gameplay necessity rather than for story telling, it’s a good turnaround to make something they did kinda out of impulse into an actually important plot point going forward
@@ZXLRT In this game, I’d say yes. Cause he’s got the blandest abilities of all he’s using those ock arms and being the “Strongest” doesn’t matter cause you don’t feel that at all in gameplay because him and miles have largely the same moveset outside of the special moves.
It’s a video game that has multiple characters, he needs it from the standpoint of making the games interesting to play and making characters not feel too samey. Also a Symbiote Spider-Man isn’t really a common thing, like yeah we’ve seen the Symbiote arc time and time again but it’s not the same as a Spidey who specializes in Symbiote powers or uses them as more than just a nice suit that makes him slightly strongest

To be fair, Anti-Venom wasn’t something Insomniac pulled out of their asses, it’s from the Comics and had more-or-less the same origin as the game. In the books it was Eddie Brock, but the whole “Mr. Negative powers + lingering symbiote cells inside DNA” is ripped straight from the source material.

To be fair, not everything in the comics is good. Anti-venom has always been a rather weird idea that I've never fully been able to get behind, and that's as a Venom fanboy.

Y'know, I did have defenses ready for Peter keeping antivenom and why it works the way it does (by using the comics), but I didn't entirely disagree with your take. I'm still fine with it because I just think it makes this version of Peter more unique like Spider Gwen in the comics (if you didn't know, she's wearing symbiote too).
Also where was it said that Peter is using Otto's tech for his arms? I just might've missed it.
Edit: Regarding Peter's spider arms (thx again substitute zero), there isn't anything implying that Peter is using the intra-cranial nerual (can't believe I remember that) network like Otto did for his arms, so I think it does make sense that it wouldn't have drawbacks.

I find it nice how in the first game you had the Anti-Ock suit and in this one you get the Anti-Venom suit. It makes it almost feel like they always planned anti venom haha I see no problem with it cuz in the story atleast from what I could understand the symbiote was changing and manipulating peter and basically helping in all the wrong ways. The anti venom has no such influence and allows Peter to well be Peter! A true man of Great Power and Responsibility 💪 his conclusion of possibly retiring is ight too B) as long as he doesn't die!

From what I remember, the problem with the arms was that Otto over engineered the arms just before he attacked the raft. The arms were working in a functional level after the arm test that they juggled some balls. Anything after that point was work on the neural link which Otto ask you to check out a magazine where you tell him about a gallium inter-cranial link and told him you don’t think it is a good idea before Otto gets excited and dismisses Peter’s discomfort, using one anyway when he shows Peter the octopus arms. I believe Peter just scaled down the arms and just made a different less invasive link for the arms that is just in the suit and works well enough to maneuver the arms. (Since he is a genius)
I don't think it's a problem and it narratively makes sense miles is the one to save him from the original evil symbiot and then miles and his actions made antivenom making

Personally I was fine with how the Anti-Venom suit was handled, all I really wish was different was that it wasn’t forced on you in the final mission cause as much as I like the suit, I would’ve much preferred fighting Venom in the Advanced Suit 2.0 along with Miles’ Classic or Upgraded suit, and I’m not hating on Miles’ Evolved suit, in fact I seem to be one of the few people that actually kinda likes it but I understand that it was bad timing since Miles just decides to make a new suit when New York is getting taken over by symbiotes, I really think they should’ve had that be a reward in one final side mission after the story like Peter’s final EMF mission that gets him the Life Story suit with the idea some other people out there have thought of where Hailey gives Miles the suit as something she made now that he’s flying solo
Honestly, for Miles suit all they would have to do is tell us that it was something he and Ganke made that works better for his upgraded bio-electricity and just have, say, an automatic skill unlock that makes the mega-blast charge faster or something. Then have a post game call from Ganke where he says he added the tech to his old suits now that they have the time with the crisis over.
I think he's going to use it during his work with the Emily May Foundation. I can totally see him giving Anti-Venom to the EMF where they can use it to cure all disease. I also think a possibility is that he ends up combining Carnage with Anti-Venom to defeat Carnage.

The creative director for this game said he wanted to simplify the Symbiote concept. The video games are now separate from the comics, and there is nothing you can say that would change that
Did you forget that it's forever bonded to him? Connors states that he has some that permanently connects him to the symbiote hive Mind and Martin and Miles state that it has too much of a hold on him which then gets changed when it's converted and it completely bonds with him which means it's inseparable.

Eh. As someone that always loved the thought of Peter having a permanent Symbiote that doesn't fuck him up mentally as well as it being the _anti-venom_ symbiote no less, I really got no complaints about this development. Frankly, I'm _HOPING_ Peter still has Anti-Venom next game and that it expands even moreso on it's abilities.
Anti-Venom exists in the comics (it’s just Eddie instead of Peter) and is technically less powerful than his comic counterpart because comic AV could have literally just booped Harry & cured his disease, but other than lacking the healing ability it’s pretty much comic AV but with Peter instead of Brock
They most likely took out the healing part since Peter has radiation in his body and it would cure him of his powers

Not every Spider-Man story needs to return to the status quo. Let Peter get his power-up, it's awesome.
Insomniac respect the OG spider-man comics with Harry, the villains, JJJ, MJ, etc.... But I love that they take liberties in their universe using more of the 2000's Spider-man lore such as Miles, Anti-Venom or Silk. It's just some fresh air with nostalgia on top of it, I love it and I agree there is no need to reset to the "status quo", that's one of the reasons comics struggles sometimes, they keep things too classic and when they rebrand something they do it all new. Insomniac nailed the balance of the 2.

I don't think it was a bad idea for Peter to have the arms. He simply found a way to improve his mentor's work.
As for the Anti Venom suit... it's nice to be handed things? For real, he helped train Miles, and unintentionally taught him a thing or two about redeeming people. He needed to find the strength within him to remove the Black Suit in the first place. So, the suit imo seems like a indirect culmination of his actions, him simply being a role model for Miles. His training of Miles, him making Miles a better hero, it's all coming back to him.
See, This video had me intrigued until the reasoning behind it was revealed which I disagree with
Peter with Anti Venom is a natural progression for all characters related to the event, Peter’s growth in feeling helpless and wanting the power to sanction his lack of success, like his inability to handle Sandman like before, nearly forced to watch someone die despite all his best efforts and getting his ass kicked by Kraven as if he was a joke, which is why he put the Symbiote on, to feel more powerful, to be more effective, to be less a problem, more a solution, him taking it off after Miles snapped him out of painful mindset to then get slapped by Venom and almost turned back into a Symbiote, all while in the background he learns his own lesson in finding a balance between everything in his life, Miles and Li’s help in getting all the Symbiotic parts and his buried pain and his realization that balance requires time, effort and dedication, something Spider-Man as a job never gave him, until he finally uses the Anti Venom to gain the power he needs to no longer be a burden while simultaneously being a positive force to everyone around him is what Peter needed and his growth in his old dualism to balance between both sides. Li’s much needed development in granting positive and negative energy to anyone he chooses to work with, making up for his wrongdoings by helping Peter and Miles save the city, to not die as the revengeful man he once was, granting all his energy to Peter, freeing him from the power so it can be used in better hands, for Peter and Miles is excellent. Miles progressing from being a great Spider-Man AND a better Miles Morales by helping not Spider-Man, but Peter Parker, is something Miles needed to move on from the hatred he carried, the fear, the pain, reaffirming his belief in not only his enemies but himself, helping Li with freeing Peter.

I honestly think this version of Peter having permanent symbiote powers is a great way to differentiate this version of Spidey from others. Especially since it's a direct result of the growth and changes his character has made.
5:22 Wait, hold on, let him cook- the fun thing about Spider-Man 1 was Peter's overpowered gadget wheel. Miles practically had no gadgets in his spin-off but the electricity and invisibility meters were fun to use. Just take those separate mechanics, make them exclusive to each character... and port them into Spider-Man 2. Then WHEN Peter gets the symbiote, he loses the gadget wheel and gains the symbiote powers.
Be better if you could swap them out like you can with the arms. Losing those features would've been bullshit imo.
Liked the selection feature better than SM1's gadget wheel anyways, would be an overall better feature
@amog8202 I'm glad they made the gadgets easier to use, but kind of miss gadgets being useful for stealth sections.
I hope in the sequel we will get the best of both worlds. Gadgets that have have both in combat & out-of-combat uses but can be used with simple button press rather than selection wheel.
Also having a whopping 8 abilities/gadgets + mega power trivialized some encounters.

I think the reason why Pete still has Anti-Venom is cuz we might get a DLC. Also Carnage will probably be the villain for the DLC & Pete's gonna need the symbiote to defeat Carnage.
For me, I think the issue is that Miles is fundamentally just a better Spider-man. He has all the same powers as Peter, plus bioelectricity and cloaking. They COULD have used tech to help Peter stand out a bit more, were it not for the fact that this series thinks every teen is a super genius who can create advanced sci-fi tech and software from the comfort of their bedroom (Miles is out here making a “hack anything” app on his phone well before he even gets powers.) If they’re really going to bring in Silk, yeah, Peter needs his own gimmick to stand out.
Plus it would kind of be a dick move on Peter's part to not give certain tech to Miles just so he can "keep up" as it were. There's a reason that other than arms - which were prototypes - Miles and Pete use the same gadgets.

My “logical” explanation for it is that Anti venom is a non-symbiote goo that goes into the white blood cells instead of the mind and consciousness, so unlike normal symbiotes its pretty much permanent and can’t be detached or transferred to another host
although another host can still get anti venom by having the symbiote on but Martin Li going in and removing the symbiotes negative effect on the host but Li may have lost his powers when doing it to Peter
Maybe if anti venom has any weaknesses that I’m unaware of Insomniac can use that plot to get it off him when defeating Carnage if he shows up for an upcoming DLC

not everything has to come up in the story, its a game based on the comic books. the anti-venom is created when the venom symbiote left inside him is charged by Mr. Negatives energy and is basically revived in Peter and bonds to his white blood cells. Unlike the black suit, the Anti-Venom symbiote has no mind of its own, it has all the upsides of a regular symbiotes, enhanced even and none of the downsides. The Anti-Venom symbiote is essentially a cure to symbiotes so thats why its stronger against the symbiotes.
Knowing Insomniac, they'll probably explain getting rid of Anti-Venom by having Peter use the last of its remnants to kill the Carnage symbiote.
Its in his blood. Y'know the blood that makes thousands of itself in an hour. I doubt Carnage would be able to destroy the anti venom.
But Anti-Venom was established in the comic years ago... tbh the only thing about it that caught me by surprise was the fact that Peter got it. I was completely prepared for Miles to get the Anti-Venom as soon as the story started to go back to Martin Li.
If not before Across the Spiderverse, then after watching it and seeing that Sony's Spider-Man is officially it's own universe within the Spiderverse, I don't mind at all that a lot of things are different from OG Comic Books, like the omission of Eddie Brock, etc.

I also don't get that he can do all of those cool abilities as Venom because the suit "knows what he wants to do", whereas for Anti-Venom he can still do those same ablities. Is it still conscious? Is he manually controlling the induvidual strands of it?
idk if you missed this in the first game but Martin Li does know who spider man is, in the mission where you are trying to uncover Martin Li's secret according to your suspicion's he exits the room is gets caught by Martin Li who says "Hello Peter, did you find what you were looking for?" in a menacing tone before they get interrupted by Aunt May signaling us that he knows or has some idea of Peter's Identity.
I would have honestly loved to see a big form of anti venom vs Harry’s venom and just see 2 big dudes fight but either way the introduction of anti venom was important to end the story in a way that didn’t feel like oh yeah spider man just strong cuz emotional
The thing with the arms is a weird point because its not like he just used his arms, he used the reasearch to make something similar, and in the first game peter was on his way to perfecting the arms, otto just didn’t give him the time. So it makes sense he could make a nerfed version of ottos arms, connect them to his suit instead of straight to his brain, and have it not affect him. Especially since otto had a mental disease that made him vulnerable when peter dosent

I've never thought about the anti-venom powers after the game ended but now that you bring it up yeah does Peter have this new power forever will he have it in Spider-Man 3 , will he have it when he fights carnage in the DLC because if he does he'll be able to take out Carnage relatively easy
It almost didnt do shit against Venom. Carnage will probably be even worse. And still, 3 wont have Peter up until some point of the story that isnt the start, to bring Peter from his temporal retirement probs.
For me its not a big deal as i personally don't play games for the story i play games for the gameplay.

Think about it this way: Miles arc with Mr Negative gives him something to gain, by seeing his mentor get some power to defeat this army of symbiote. and, imagine if it was another ability doing something completely different. Would you still be complaining. And, I think that the anti venom suit is apart of his blood since he already got the symbiote so its not technically a venom symbiote.
Here is what I think he gives anti venom to Harry in the third game and also I agree that you should have had a more in depth mission with Peter earning the suit maybe he has to be the one to destroy that core or whatever but I think they should have said the suit was weaker than Venom but there is one thing I disagree with and it is because anti venom is immune to sound in the comics so that isn’t a stretch

I too would have preferred that Peter just got abilities to show off his superior skill to Miles. Like yeah, Miles has experience now, but Peter still has about 9 years on him (assuming Miles started field training around a year after the first game). Give him some insanely flashy combo moves, or make him physically stronger and faster than Miles to balance with Miles's extra powers. Then they symbiote is a huge boost that lasts for a while then goes away permanently. My biggest gripe with the game is that in the final mission neither Peter nor Miles look like themselves. Peter is in an admittedly cool suit but it would be better if he was just him, and Miles looks like toothpaste with Adidas on
i don’t see an issue with the anti venom symbiote. it levels peter and miles in the same ball park. and it’s still a symbiote , except it can heal anything, destroy other symbiotes easily , and it doesn’t have the negative side effects he had while in possession of venom. plus miles has new powers which were said to be more volitive, so it evens out the playing field

I feel like the the abilities Peter have pre & post symbiote time could’ve easily been changed to just be acrobatic movesets. L1+Square could’ve just been the web bomb to compare with his anti venom bomb later on in the game. L1+Triangle he could still have slingshotted himself towards an enemy just take out the stupid hurricane effect that would no doubt slice the enemies in half rather than just blow them back. L1+Circle is a simple taser web, have it be the same ability just have be from his web shooters. And L1+X could still have Peter pull & push a guy upwards & create a shockwave, just don’t have him lean on the arms. Looking at them now, the arms are more cosmetic than I thought. Most of those moves, Spidey could already do without the arms. Or at the very least have the option to toggle the arms off for the abilities so they don’t look out of place on the suits that don’t have arms in at all. Like NWH final swing suit.
anti-venom is literally just a brainless symbiote with no downsides, no mood swings, nothing. its anti-venom, its the opposite of what a symbiote does, instead of taking over the body and taking it for a joy ride, corrupting the wearer slowly until they are nothing but a husk of their former selves, the anti-venom is controlled by peter, only peter, and it doesnt mess with the user.
the venom symbiote controls peter. peter controls the anti-venom. you can't even really call it a symbiote anymore because its not a thinking living creature, its just an extention of the wearer. in the comics, from what i know i never read them, eddie brock gets the anti-venom symbiote and he is the sole user of it when it was still bonded to him, he sacrificed it to get rid of a massive virus outbreak. but he like peter in insomniac's story is the one controlling the symbiote, the only thing the symbiote does is detect illnesses and heal them.
other symbiotes are typically seen as illnesses.
though in the comics samples the anti-venom symbiote and the carnage symbiote are combined in an experiment by alchemax and becomes the misery symbiote, wich does seem to have a personality but its most likely because it combines the two polar opposite symbiotes together into one.
Well the good news is that the suit doesn’t seem to powerful anyway and is only really super effective against symbiotes. Despite combat moves being added the symbiote doesn’t feel any stronger which actually kinda pissed me off for story purposes but I get it. It’s hard to make things look worth it while not dogging on others
What I think works is that the Symbiote IS stronger in rage mode compared to Miles who just has a powerful AOE attack. The Rage mode is when Peter starts holding back less which is why the game has us enter that mode in two story missions where he's really pissed off.
The Black Symbiote Rage Mode gives off an "out of control vibe" to it.
Dude the symbiote is so much stronger, you literally have an I win button that charges quickly enough to be used in almost every fight, not to mention how good the venom abilities are, just because the suit doesn't let you be in rage mode 24/7 doesn't mean it's not stronger.
I see no issue having a permanent Symbiote. It’s basically what I always wanted from a Spider-Man
I mean he can still actively choose how to use the Anti-Venom Symbiote thanks to Mr Negative, so like he can pack it away whenever he wants and now he has a more effective weapon against future symbiote enemies like Carnage (for all the good it'll do if Carnage has accurate comic book power scaling to Venom in this game, I don't think they'll go that route because he'd be fucking unstoppable, but still. Peter being Anti-Venom AND Spider-Man is fine. They're already kind of setting up the idea of him hanging up the webs with Miles capable enough to succeed him while he moves on to bigger projects like literally ending world hunger and shit.
If a Carnage DLC happens, I think the solution to that should be Peter using all of the anti venom to purge the Carnage Symbiote which destroys his Anti-Venom suit as well as the Carnage symbiote
I mean he did that to a cracked out venom and as far as we can tell he’s still fine, the only times AV dies in the books is when it’s used in extreme ways like curing all of New York all at once (spider island)

When Peter saw Harry was dying again after the defeat of Venom, he should have given the Anti Venom Symbiote to him. It would act as a good ending, a way for the symbiote to leave the story and be a mirror of when Harry gave Peter venom
IMO they should have done a lot more to make the black suit feel stronger. Maybe recharge is half the time on abilities and you do a fraction more damage than usual which when he got anti venom could have made it normal speed that way you get the fun parts but it’s not as powerful and it’s not like the black suit in that way
TLDR : making anti venom weaker since it’s only a little bit left of the original symbiote
But it's Martin Lees powers added in, in the comics its just a zap of Martin Lees powers to a cancer treatment Eddie Brock and he gets Antivenom which is all the power and more from a symbiote without it having any personality its just your white blood cells mixed with symbiote and Lee powers doesn't make much sense in the slightest but Insomniacs not only has more stakes pays off narrative wise it has all of Lees power which he loses for putting into Pete.
Really all the black suit amounts to is a different slightly better set of special moves and the rage meter. It's decent but you certainly don't feel like symbiote Spider-Man should. For example, I was fighting Yuri with the black suit the other day and she brought me from full health to dead in 3 fucking hits. That shit would never fly in any other symbiote storyline. I feel like they should have made you more powerful in a number of ways, especially in the health department.

I’m gonna be honest this really just sounds like a Well thought out and fully expand upon nitpick. For one, I actually totally believe Peter would potentially be able to take dark ox technology and improve upon it for his own use. In fact, that’s not really are you surprised to me considering in the first game, Peter’s character is set up and shown to be very and fully capable of doing such a thing, as well as he also showed major interested in potentially assisting Otto with making his technology safe for use, and in fact, it seemed like he very much wanted to would have, and could have done exactly that if not for Otto going on a rampage as doctor octopus. In fact, I would say it’s generally kind of just good writing to show us that as an example of parallel line, plot points, and scenarios to subtly bookend the game. if you really want to get married anything I’d say it’s the fact that from narrative perspective, it seems like it doesn’t make sense that you would be able to still play Peter after the game is completed based on how the story ended. I’d say that’s more of a gameplay convenience than the anti-venom suit.
It completely escaped my mind that he didn’t give th symbiote to harry at the end, I completely forgot he still had it on after the final battle, im sure the 3rd game will make some excuse about him losing the symbiote over time or some shit lol
Given that insomniac is open to a venom game if there’s demand for it I can imagine that Harry still has part of the venom symbiote and would have a storyline of Harry and the symbiote being the more lighthearted chocolate lover venom since now that the meteor is destroyed and how most of the symbiote was destroyed it might develop a different perspective or personality

I kinda wish they never did the Anti-Venom suit because I liked how it let you feel the power of the symbiote and then took it away. A big reason why Peter always struggles with letting the symbiote go even when it's changing him is because he knows it makes him stronger and able to save more people. I think having you be significantly weaker throughout the rest of the game would've driven home that point so much harder because it wouldn't just be Peter having to struggle with that problem, you as a player would actively be grappling with having to rely on your own strength instead of the symbiote's. Not that I have a problem with the way they handled it,, it just felt like a missed opportunity
What if in spider man 3 it’s revealed that the anti venom is rather killing him or curing him of his powers and by the end of spider man 3 he’s got no powers or he’ll lose it in dlc or something

Honestly, I'm just glad they did something different with this arc for once. Sure, it wasn't perfect and everything about Anti Venom and how Peter acquired it could've been fleshed out better (kinda like everything about Anti Venom in the comics) but really, what is so wrong with trying to do something different? Having Peter keep the Symbiote and master it to use it for good has never been done before, and it works perfectly for a video game where the other option is to just take away all your fun, so why not just try and tell stories with that? About how Peter doesn't really feel comfortable having Anti Venom on him and would remove it if he could but can't, because it's not only impossible, but a tiny part of him still feels like he needs it. About how using it too much might awaken the symbiote's dormant violence and turn it into a more comic accurate Anti Venom look and he has to be careful to keep the balance. Peter's in control now, but there's still black in the white, just like how there was white in the black. It's being controlled doesn't mean it's harmless. The Anti Venom suit staying only poses a real problem if you think about it like one, so why not think about the good stuff it can bring too?
It would make sense, would be a good replacement for the arms from this game that everyone used for only five seconds, and it puts Peter on par with Miles’s venom ability, making the gameplay feel the same for both so you don’t have to learn 2 play styles. I personally don’t have a huge issue with this, as we get to keep some badass abilities.
My hope is that SM2 is themed heavily on the symbiotes and that by the end of the DLC there will be some way it will be removed, like I don't know giving it to Harry so he can be Anti-venom? I mean there is even a gadget in this game that is symbiote specific. I just hope the third game we get a more tech friendly peter like in the first game
Going off the books, he isn’t supposed to be able to take it off. He just has it until something very extreme happens to kill the suit. But the good thing is that AV can heal basically any disease so I can see him using it to heal Harry, or assuming it has some negative powers maybe activate Harry’s remnants and make him into AV
10:29 wouldn't have been cool for at this moment instead to have the black suit return but "fractured"? So like part advance suit & part symbiote. With the urge to bond or join with venom. So for one; Peter would have the advance suit using symbiote powers with a rage ultimate ability *with only partial symbiote suit*. THEN in the endgame once Venom beats the heck out of Peter then Martian Li's powers combine with the symbiote due to Fear/Anger of losing Harry, MJ, Miles, the city to Venom. Thus making the anti-venom suit.

I’m predicting near the beginning of spider-man 3 which I I’m also betting will take place very shortly after the events of spider-man 2 or its DLC Peter will give Harry the anti-venom symboite to heal both his disease and his coma leading to the creation of agent anti-venom, Peter needing to have new mechanics to differentiate him and possibly a fourth playable character.
When I first played the game, and Peter took the symbiote off, I was thinking, "Yes. All that power isn't worth it. This is so inspiring. He's giving it all up because his love for MJ and everyone else is stronger than his desire to feel unstoppable. He's going to have it much harder in life now, but he'll be fighting for the right reasons." And then my jaw dropped when they just gave him another symbiote, and MJ, who witnessed firsthand what the first one did to him, just went along with it unquestionably when he said he had another one. The whole story prior suddenly became worse, because it was no longer about how power corrupts, but about how there is always a way to get around that and have the power anyway.
Nobody gave him another Symbiote. Mr. Negative just purified the Symbiote which remained in him after he ripped it away. So that said, the Symbiote never left his body in any way.
I see no problem it doesn't effect the stroy negatively, and I don't think any features should be added to where there a consequence for using the anti venom.
They need ways to keep Peter fun alongside miles and iron arms just aren't enough for that I just hope in the next game Peter can use his symbiote powers in his normal suit so we won't have a full white and black suit.
Also i think the devs just using the symbiote as another abbitle set was right because it is and it doesn't take away how much stronger peter is in symbiote form when miles also has gotten more powerful which likely made him stronger aswell.
I don't agree with your iron man take it doesn't effect peter stroy at all in spiderman ps4 peter was constantly showcasing how much smarter he is then otto so if he made his own arms it wouldn't matter because he doesn't have the issue's that otto has plus Peter isn't using doc ock specific arms he could just be using the arms and controlling them is by using his suit or something.
About the anti venom it doesn't effect the stroy because that in comics and it's justified for that reason the anti venom was simply a way to keep the gameplay fun but it also was a way to set up venom fight hs needed something to fight venom while miles had blue powers so the devs did think about story before they brought it in and it also helped miles and li get through their problems so it positively impacted the story.
One last thing the peter soul mission with miles and li wouldn't have fit to add slme type of emotional part for pete its just not really where his development leads after Peter gets the suit it shows that.
i mean there could be story telling possibilities in the 3rd game for the symbiote. besides in the game, it also showed how the white suit doesnt regenerate itself as fast as the venom symbiot. considering peter had battle damage. there could be some explonations to that which could fix some things with the story
When you mention that peter needs the symbiote to the gameplay i have my other way to see it, it will be perfect that peter in his base form have more strength that base miles,so when peter use his spider arms and bio or normal electricity both are in the same level. But the history is about venom, so they have to put the same strength in base to make both in same level with abilities.
Complaining that the Anti-Venom symbiote doesn't corrupt Peter is a bit silly considering that it's not supposed to. In the comics with Eddie, he was only crazy because he considered the suit to be a blessing from God making him some messiah due to the healing abilities the suit gave him. It shouldn't do anything to another user, just like it didn't do anything with Flash when he was Anti-Venom for a little bit.
It's a suit that purifies things, and thats why it can deal more damage against symbiotes like in the comics. It shouldn't really have a weakness towards sound in the first place. Yes, it's still a symbiote, but not a natural one.

Perhaps Peter has to use all of the energy of the sun be able to destroy Carnage? (and then one to throw into free roam, even if you still have access to it, you can just write it off as non-canon uses.)
Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t hate it if this suit stuck around, as you could argue it helps make this version of Peter different from other ones in the spider-verse… But it’s way too overpowered. Having something as strong as the Symbiot suit without any consequences means that either, he’s gonna have to be fighting people more powerful than the rhino on a daily basis, or things are just gonna be too easy. And as we all know, if life is too easy for Peter Parker, it’s not a Spider-Man story.
Despite the appearance of Anti-Venom seeming a bit forced, that doesn’t mean it can’t have a redemption. Maybe at the end of the Carnage DLC, Peter has a sort of realization of some sort and instead of just destroying it, he decides to “contain” the anti-venom symbiote so that it’s not ALWAYS on him, but can still be usable from a gameplay perspective without just completely breaking apart from the story
I honestly disagree that "nothing" about the Anti Venom suit works because Miles is the one who gives it to him because Peter mentored Miles and showed him how to be a hero Miles saved Li inspite of his hate when Peter failed to truly save Li in Spider-Man 1 and because of that good Peter created in the world they came back around and saved him in turn. Peter "earned" the powers through mentoring Miles and helping mold a hero who would surpass him in many ways.
We need to treat this Spider-Man as a video game character, not his comic book superhero counterpart. Like Kratos, like Dante, like all other video game characters, he needs to get more stylish and powerful with each game, so that the games can get more fun.
Also, and I know I'm in the minority here, but I've been literally begging for Marvel to give us a Universe where Peter and the Symbiote get along and he keeps it forever, so this is literally what I've been asking for. I never even considered Anti-Venom as an option, but shit, it works for me!
They really don't though, its just a cop out, they can do so much more new moves and keep evolving the gameplay with just more web based attacks alone, you didn't see the batman arkham series give you jetpacks and extra superpowers like rocket boots or whatever across 4 games because they still want you to feel like batman

One can only hope that Sony/Insomniac bringing us the best spiderman games can recognize their choices. Trying to make sense of this in the future DLC and the Third Chapter of the series that can both work game mechanic and story wise. I did like the second game the first time playing it and then playing it the second time felt off for some reason and i think you hit it right on the nail. i just hope they don't go too overboard and just give us the "it is what it is" outcome. can't say for sure.
I personally don't want the symbiote powers to be a thing moving forward, I get they're trying to match miles' gameplay in terms of fun. But I just feel like they're too much and make spider man canonically op. I would've been fine with just the black suit powers mid game and completely reverting back to the spider arms as they'll feel more rewarding to go back to after peter's journey and experience with the symbiote. Feels right to me.
He should keep the symbiote. Without it, Miles is way more fun to use than Peter. Hell, even with it, I use Miles more. Without it, I'd never use Peter.
Bit subjective, I thought Miles Morales (the game) was more fun combat-wise than SMPS4, but in Spider-Man 2 I find both of Peter's movesets to be just slightly more fun than Miles

in the comics, after the venom symbiote left Eddie brocks' body, it not only gave him cancer but also left traces of it in his blood stream. once Mr. negative touched Eddie, it awoke the symbiote and bonded to his white blood cells and created anti venom. anti venom in the comics is completely mindless and the host has full control so that's why peter near the end says, "it's like having the power without the voices."
edit: I also think that the reason they made the anti-venom suit is because they didn't want venom to have two weaknesses of fire and sound because there were too many times venom just ignored fire, so they had to make a new weakness.

I remember reading somewhere that a problem is that writers for Miles grew up with shonen anime with the idea of characters getting power ups (lightning sword much), so I don't mind too much Peter getting a permanent power-up and one that gives him an edge on one of his iconic villains who's often had an edge on him (Venom not triggering Spider-sense).
And you realise that your Luke Skywalker point doesn't really work, Luke did give into rage briefly and beat Vader with it, but didn't fall to the darkside.
