This is the final Battle from the DLC. It's against your friend Kieran newly introduced in the DLC Teal Mask and Legendary Ogerpon that you challenge just after.

Kieran now joins the club of "Trainers who we hate to defeat/crush their hopes and dreams" alongside Hop/Wally
But unlike Hop, Kieran looks like he's got some feelings of resentment towards the player
Kieran is Hop but just better in every way
He is probably going to become the champion of the BB league at blueberry academy
Don't forget Wally as well he also gets annyoned and angry as the game gose on as well
But unlike Kieran, Hop and Wally's frustration fuel their determination to improve and strive forwards. Kieran's frustration is driving his need to get back at the person he once oozed up to.
I've seen a lot of people say they hate Carmine and Kieran but like... we ALL asked for mean rivals and we got them. This is GOOD. They are refreshing characters.

Kieran isn't just mean, he suddenly started acting like a villain, at first i thought he was controlled by someone of the evil trio but no, he just turned toxic

and then Carmine just grew to have respect on us, after seeing us conquering the lousy three with her
She's pretty close to Arven's development if I may say so myself, but I can't see her leaving as much of an impression on me than Arven did
The way he grabs his pokeball and applies pressure on it just shows how much spite he has against us. Looking forward to seeing his villain arc in part 2.
Poor Kieran. He really wanted to become Ogerpon’s trainer that badly. I feel sorry for him.
Given his inferiority complex however, just simply handing Ogerpon over on a silver platter would have been an insult to him over than just simply beating him for the Nth time. That and it disrespects Ogerpon’s wishes too.

True, but it’s clear Ogerpon clearly wanted to come with us. I chalked it up to it seeing something in Kieran that didn’t sit right with it.
I was not prepared for Ogerpon’s fight to be a 4 phase cycle through all the tera forms but it was so cool to play through

honestly I like that, that with the fact that his sister kinda treats him like a baby, along with a slight ego/ inferiority complex makes for an extremely interesting villian.
It's even funnier the second time.
Kieran spent his entire life being the one person standing up for the ogre in the story, constantly isolated from his peers and belittled by his sister. When she finally gets to be the one living out his dream, makes a new friend of his lie to him, never apologises, and watches that same friend take the pokemon he so desperately wanted to connect with for being the one thing that made him feel less alone......well, i cant blame him for the next part of his arc. Hes most likely going to throw himself into his battle studies at school (maybe becoming the blueberry league champion fight) in order to prove he's the strongest, and in his mind, deserving of people's affection.
At the same time, just because Kieran has that connection with Ogerpon doesn't mean that he is entitled to her.
Plus, he didn't fully understand Ogerpon herself. He always thought that she didn't care about being an outcast when she did to the point of attending a festival that demonizes her.

Kieran having semi-competitive moveset is something you don't wanna sniff at
It's like he's trying to have fully competitive team, but doesn't fully know how to make it. He's a beginner.
But he'll surely put in enough work to have a powerful, well-balanced and perfectly trained team. That battle was a start-up

Then it knew Liquidation. Kieran is developing for sure.
I actually lost to Kieran once which took me aback. Granted I was swapping my team constantly in this DLC so I was underleveled. But the competitive items made this fight way more interesting. I hope this fight is a sign that Gamefreak will start giving trainers actually good items to make genuinely challenging fights.

I really felt bad for Kieran not gonna lie, he was so obssessed with Ogrepon even before he knew about the story and at last he wasn’t able to become its trainer 😢

I like how they're quite reversed
Kieran is the one warming up to you in the start and Carmine doesn't like you. In the end it's Carmine who is liking you and Kieran becomes distant.

@@mathieul4303I mean, not really though? Like, yeah, Carmine’s secrecy didn’t help, but if that was the reason, he would probably go back to being a shy, friendly goofball after learning the truth. The fact is, his obsession with the ogre from the story blinds him, and he fails to see Ogerpon as a living being, and after we beat him, instead of accepting reality, he seemingly doubles down and becomes very twisted because of it.
@@johngrace1312To be fair that's mostly his family fault his sister is all but stated to be a bully towards him and constantly put him down and is impiled she beat him up as well as she acts like not hitting him is being nice.
His family kept him in a dark about the truth of his favourite myth dispute, alredy guessing what it was.
They used the excuse of him apparently being not well liked because of his belief but seeing the village belived him very quickly implying they actually didn't mind him.
Basically his family sucks and then his possible new friend end ups taking there said and destroying his dream

Sarcastically saying that you’re being nice by not hitting each other is par for the course, and Carmine repeatedly states that she feels bad about keeping secrets from him. His family isn’t presented as being wrong, and they kept him in the dark not because they thought people didn’t like him but because they thought nobody would believe the story. Otherwise they would have told the village themselves if the problem was Kieran’s rep.

I disagree. The fact that Kieran runs held items puts him a cut above most vanilla trainers. In the hands of the AI, a Shiftry with a Sash is a lot more threatening than, say, a Meowscarada with no item, because it's an offensive Pokémon poised to get an extra hit. "Weak" Pokémon used closer to their full potential and stronger than "strong" Pokémon that aren't.
Not to mention that he ditched his Furret - he clearly has a threshold that he considers "too weak".

Ogerpon’s boss battle was so freaking cool! Love the battle theme too. The whole story and gameplay makes me love Ogerpon even more. I’m so excited what happens next in the dlc story in part 2. I’m so eager

I noticed with Kieran that his eyes lose its shine throughout the entire thing. At the same time, it's like he's switching between personalities. But now with the Indigo Disk, it just stuck to him. Then with Terapagos, the sparkle returned to his eyes and he was back to normal

Likely not. Usually in dlcs they have their own versions of villains, the kid just wanted to prove he is a good trainer, not really a villainous character. Honestly i don't think we had a true villain in this game since.. well sword/shield and sun/moon/ultra sun/ultra moon. Those ones were gonna commit a cataclysm just to achieve their own goals. This one's enemy was gone long before they got to see how bad the consequences of their actions were.

at first i was a bit on the fence about ogrepons design, but after playing through the game i love her now, shes so adorable

I don’t know why, but that quick little animation with the sound of it popping its masks on is fucking adorable. I actually really like the new trio too except for the bird, but this is easily my new favorite Gen 9 pokemon for sure! 💚

Ngl that dlc was 1000 times better than the 1st one of S/S it was so emotionnal and that final scene teasing the 2nd part of the dlc. Btw ogerpon is one of the cutest thing ever made and that final battle with het was so cool and hard for me bc i used a different team than my original one to make the dlc harder, ngl seeing some well used strategies was so satisfying.

I really wish the game gave you options to help him rather than hurt him, or just have 2 legendaries so he could have one. Tired of the single track gameplay making you steal pokemon characters spend their whole lives wanting to see, lol.

As much as everyone empathizes with Kieran, including me, I feel that I must point something out.
Just because Kieran has that connection with Ogerpon doesn't mean that he is entitled to her.
The longer the DLC goes on, the more Kieran thinks that being stronger and beating us will automatically earn Ogerpon's affection. He started thinking of her as a trophy than a kindred spirit.
In addition, he didn't fully understand Ogerpon herself. He always thought that she didn't care about being an outcast when she did care to the point of attending a yearly festival that demonizes her.
Kieran deserved better. But that doesn’t mean he deserved Ogerpon.
Ogerpon is sooooooooooooooooooooo cute if I was in the game I'll give him a kiss. I love his change of type ability thanks to those masks. My favorite mask is Teal Mask and Cornerstone Mask

This dlc was so fun, I just beat the main story a few minutes ago, also even though I brought my main game team near the end of the story I barely beat the last 3 boss battles and even lost a few times.
I can't be the only one that feel the irony of your OPPONENT is the one that used the power of friendship to keep on fighting and getting stronger for once in that Ogrepon battle.

i related to kieran a lot as an autistic person... the outbursts, the fixation on the ogre, not knowing how to express his emotions correctly so he just separates himself from everyone, carmine saying she doesn't know what she's gonna do with him or why he acts this way, being afraid of speaking to people, becoming easily very attached to someone, etc... it all hit very close to home

Well I think he's more just hit the limit of what he can take and just... snapped.
I was bullied a lot as a kid and eventually I just hit a breaking point a straight up slugged a man.
Poor kid probably hit the same limit, I mean Carmine seems to be pushing him a lot, though not much more than the usual Big Sister/Little Brother affair, but he's also socially stunted- And then he finally makes a new friend, then his big sister comes around and 'steals' his new friend and you and Carmine seemingly leave him behind to go make friends with the Ogre he always admired since a kid.
Yeah I can't really blame him for snapping, but I still worry about just how far he's gone- He's starting to push away you and Carmine, the only two people he can consider friends so he no longer has anyone to lean on as support (Or give him a good Force Palm to wake up)

For y’all saying y’all feel bad for Kieran not getting Ogerpon, if I recall correctly, we’re the ones who put in the grunt work in getting back its masks, even after Kieran learned the truth.
But didn't Kieran help the town realize their mistakes? It's a very gray character and I love it.

@@Light14Liliumand that highlighted a plot hole for me… how could it realistically take a span of hours for folks to forgo generations of misinformation? We all know that would never happen. Sure, maybe a few would’ve been open to the possibility that Kieran was right, but not the entire village, especially if they’re going by the word of a pre-teenager/teenager. Not to mention, the reason Carmine and Kieran’s grandfather was so guarded in the first place was because their ancestor literally did the same thing as Kieran, and he was lambasted for it.
So, nah… we still put in the hard work and on top of that, Ogerpon really wanted her masks.

@@Light14LiliumWell to be fair, I think there is a bit of an unspoken rule when it comes to the criminal side of the Pokemon world.
If some kid just beat you in a Pokemon battle then you either surrender or run, because you don't have any Pokemon and this kid still has a Garchomp that looks more than happy to fold you like an omelette. Possibly more.

Honestly, I feel a bit bad for Kieran. he really wanted to be ogerpon’s partner but we took that from him (honestly I would’ve just let him have it if I had the choice) on top of that, his sister wasn’t nice to him throughout his life and he feels like ogerpon would be the one who can relate with him and understand him.
Now he joins the club of “trainers with dreams crushed by the protagonist” all he really wanted was a friend :( and now resenting the protagonist. I could see why Kieran would react like this.
I also kind of liked him as a character but I don’t wanna see him become evil in the next dlc😭

To be fair, some of us have forgotten Shiftry was a Dark type since it's been a while since we saw a Shiftry being used by a trainer and to be honest Shifty doesn't quite look like a Dark Type.
Heck I personally constantly forget Stunky is a Dark Type.
My sneasler hard carried this fight. Glad that i brought it from legends to help dominate the game even more

@@playmakerxv2628 I've been having trouble with finding a Friend Ball at the Porto Marinada auction, I might use one of the 3 Love Balls I have. I think the Love Ball also fits Ogerpon because of her cute appearance.
I used a Love Ball just for kicks. No, I did not know Ogerpon was strictly female at the time
