I really enjoyed you reaction thanks! Your reaction to Mitch's incredible high range is called a "Mitch Slap". Pentatonix has a difficult record label/contract with SME so posting reactions to them will be harder than Home Free and Voice Play. Having the contract with SME has helped Pentatonix earn 4 Grammy Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame but the contract owns and controls them more and they have less freedom than Home Free and Voice Play. They love their fans and reactors so don't give up on them as some reactors have because of the blocks and copyright strikes. Some reactors are using screens and filters combined with pausing frequently during reactions and the Pentaholics will be very understanding when you do this for your Pentatonix reactions. Pentatonix is so talented and now that they are getting married and having families I would love to see them take back control on their own again with their solo work, song writing, arranging and production.
They do seem to be doing that. I understand that only their Christmas music is under contract with Sony now and all their live/onstage and "regular" pieces are under a different contract with someone else or on their own.

PTX has been nominated for 5 Grammy awards, but has only won 3. Their 4th nomination was 2 years ago for their Christmas album Evergreen (which they didn't win), and their 5th is for last year's Christmas album, Holidays Around the World The Grammys will be telecast (at least the big awards) on Feb. 4, so only a few weeks away! Here's hoping for a another win (and a first for Matt)!

Thank you for reacting to this fun Pentatonix video. There is a great video of Pentatonix singing this one live at the Hollywood Bowl in September 2022. It was their first time singing it live and it was lots of fun. They were having the best time.
This one has always been 5 minutes of pure joy for me! They did all the songs in the same keys as the original artists. There's a side-by-side YT vid on it - you will love it!

Their cover of "Shallow" is wonderful, if you want more of Kirstie and Scott. And if you want another awesome performance of "Believe", Adam Lambert's live performance (in front of Cher) at the Kennedy Center is a genuine experience to listen to.

Agreed If that was the ONLY thing I knew of PTX, I wouldn't even GUESS that Scott was gay! They sizzle... just based on their love for each other since grade school. I've seen reactors mention the "heat of passion" they exude. It's a great cover!

The stereotypical reactions to this medley: lots of chair dancing, singing along with the lyrics, and not wanting it to be over. Congrats! Three for three!
The thing that strikes me the most about this medley is Cher's Believe. Cher is an alto - there's no argument about that. And Mitch sings his portion of the song so close to her range, it's a little uncanny. But here's the kicker - Mitch is in his LOWER range when he's singing this, not straining to hit notes at all. Yet a male countertenor (which Mitch is generally considered) normally has a range almost identical to a female alto, which only goes to show that Mitch is anything but "average" in any way, shape, or form!

Someone else mentioned Home. It’s a medley that Pentatonix came out with during the Covid pandemic when almost everyone was….Home. And each of them actually sang their parts at home. It’s very good, I loved it.

The Five Faces of New Pentaholics
1. The most common is the Mitch Slapped. Commonly found when Mitch is heard for the first time in Hallelujah, The Prayer, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Creep and doing Aha! at the Star Vista.
2. The Wide Eyed Look of Disbelief. Normally found when you hear their Wall of Sound. Found when listening to Mary Did You Know, Imagine, Amazing Grace, The Prayer, Mad World and the Avalanche or Tsunami of O Holy Night.
3. The I Didn’t Want It to End face. Most commonly found after listening to the 90s Dance Medley. It can also be found after listening to all their medleys and evolutions.
4. The Teary Eyed Look. This is commonly found when listening to an emotional song of theirs or just the sheer beauty of their work. Commonly found when listening to Mary Did You Know, Hallelujah, Amazing Grace, Imagine, The Prayer, Prayers for This World, O Holy Night and most especially Thank You.
5. The What Did I Just Hear Face. Happens when Pentatonix starts strong, or when you hear a really special note or Kevin sound. Is usually accompanied by rewinding the video or song to make sure your ears really heard what they heard. Those times are too many to list, but the most common rewind at the start moment is the beginning of Sound of Silence.
Enjoying these mash-ups! I must admit 90's dance music for me was mostly at Christmas work parties, it rarely found it's way into my car, but it was still enjoyable in the moment even if not a choice to listen to regularly. My 90's go to band were James.

Isn’t it amazing that these guys can upgrade a song, in just 5 seconds? They even upgraded SEJ, with Can You Feel the Love Tonight. They even took a BIG swing at Oscar and Hammerstein, with My Favorite Things. These two songs will floor you! I look forward to your beautiful face lit up with joy.
Every time I see someone reacting to this video I always see the same thing, the reactor(s) don't want the video to end. That is just how good they are. My wish is that they would do entire covers of each song.
One of my favorites is "Mary did you know" just beautiful.
That was so much fun!!! I didn't want it to end either. I found myself singing along with so many of those songs. They all brought back so many good memories. I definitely wanted more and did not want that to end.

They do this live and it sounds very similar. They are really just that astoundingly good. They generally do not release anything from the studio that they cannot replicate in a live setting.

Hard to beat this group! And they have been together since 2011, I think. Please correct me if that is wrong knowing that Scott, Kirsty, and Mitch have known each other since childhood. And what blows me away is that when they texted Kevin to see if he was interested in joining the group to audition for the sing off, They met just 24 hrs before, auditioned and made it with the song Telephone.

When it comes to Pentatonix's most popular videos, they unfortunately fail to highlight the more lowkey talents of Matt&Kevin, the bass and beatboxers. Matt has more vocal range than Kevin and gets to showcase now and again, but did you also know he's a drummer? Or that Kevin can beatbox while playing a mean cello?
I Recommend a live performance of "Dance of the Sugar Plum fairy: Reimagined" where they both get to show off these skills :D
Or "little Drummer Boy" for a brief vocal by Kevin, which he almost never does.
