Dallas has a deep relationship with God. Huge faith.

The scene where the romans are walking over the hill gave me goose bumps !! To me it was such a heavy omen of what was coming later. I think that may have been something that crossed his mind. I know that he knew that it was not his time but he didn’t want it to affect his family ( followers ) and stress and worry them.

There’s a difference between concern and fear. Concern motivates us to act, consider at the facts and take action to help, while fear incapacitates. True fear does not think, it reacts. Fight or flight.

There are so many scenes I love in all the series of The Choose. When Jesus tells Mary she is his, always gives me chills. His healing Jesus at the pool, I love hearing Jesse said but my legs, I can walk. He can't believe but knows it's a miracle, like me being sober 33 years, I can't believe it but here I am. I didn't like Mary going off after Jesus helped her but I loved it when her fellows brothers went to look for her. And Matthew, Simon the Zealot, Simon Peter, Andrew, John, Big and Lil James and the rest are all awesome. This show has really impacted my life even more but I still I have more letting go to do. God ain't done with me yet 😁🙏🙏🙏

My dad tried to convince me not to do many things in my life, but did not physically prevent me on several occasions.
He told me not to touch a hot burner on the stove, for example, but didn't stop me.
Sometimes, you know that a person you love is about to do something that will hurt them or that they will regret, but you also know that if you stop them, they may rebel and try harder to do that thing and hurt themselves even more. You let them suffer the pain themselves because experience is the best teacher.
Also, and more specifically to John...God gives us free will. He asks much of us, but we are free to choose to follow.

*Anti Catholicism part: Exposure of truths of the corruption/hypocrisy/apostacy of a church (whether Catholic or any Christian denomination that no longer obeys God's precepts) is also a form of love through a rebuke of the sins committed based on what the Bible says. To expose the sins of a church is Grace for the members who are already being led to the wide road to destruction. It strengthens the faith of those who are at a standstill or falling away in their spiritual walk.
God disciplines those He loves. These rebukes, corrrection and calls for repentance turns us all (Catholic or Christian) back to God. He does not want any one of us to perish. But for this to happen we all need to learn and walk the path to righteousness. Refinement of our lives in our walk with God can be painful but humbling. When we start reflecting Jesus in our lives, that's when we know we're walking with God to the narrow door to the Kingdom described in Luke 13

That was beautiful, I love the Chosen it's so refreshing to see something like that instead of crime or sex or violence shows, a lot of that is taken from the Gospels and a lot has been added like the lives of the disciples and how they would have interacted with each other also a lot of conversations added but it's ok it's getting people to find their faith and path no matter what religion you are, it's getting people to start reading the Bible again I think this is a great accomplishment that this show is getting people of all nations on the right path. I didn't mind you stopping it was great! Thank you.

  • @myrnaluvs
    @myrnaluvs Před 2 lety +2

I love this show because to me it reminds us that even though we don’t see the everyday life of the Jesus and the disciples in the gospels that they did LIVE. Each gospel was written for a distinct purpose and to a group of people, each one could not tell us every testimony of healing, deliverance, restoration, provision, teaching, and conversation. If they did the Bible would have to multiple volumes of books. So Dallas is taking creative license to add plausible background stories about their lives. The lives of the disciples, religious leaders, and those touched by Jesus. He keeps it within the context of scripture and not against it.
As for Jesus and John the Baptizers conversation, and sadness that Jesus felt when John said he was going to confront Herod, it wasn’t that Jesus would have tried to stop John from doing what the Father had planned. But what if the plan was that John has to come out of the limelight, that could have been done with him only locked up for life, Instead of getting beheaded. ( im not speaking for God, just speculating) As humans our emotions can really be difficult to control and not go overboard. Maybe John’s zeal caused him to insult Herod’s new bride and she decided he deserved to die for that. But Jesus knew John and knew his passion, and like he said, “ I am always ready to do my Father’s will, but it doesn’t make it easy.

Hola! from October 19, 2022! Here we are nearly at the end of season 2! :How lucky I am to be waiting for Season 3, even though if feels like a really long wait that you must have experienced too! I am so happy to have found you! For I have been wearing the grooves off my DVDs and this has given me a virtual group of people who love this and are truly family being called by the heart! You asked a question, What SHOULD have Mary done? We have to get rid of that word, SHOULD. She did what she did. It may not have been clear to us why...but who are we in her life? She came back to Him and that is the only important thing.
This is how I'd answer this....we are all on our way to understanding of the power of His Love. Anyway we get THERE, and it is a miracle and a gift of His Love.

What “should?” is the same as asking, “if this would happen again, what would be a better response?” This thoughtful problem solving is a very good skill to have, and using our imagination to picture a scenario and our best response to that scenario is a gift to use. You seem to be reacting to the condemnation that sometimes accompanies the word “should”. Sometimes that shame is even places on us by ourselves.

**When Jesus came back and Simon the zealot was watching and Jesus said "Didn't I say I'm coming back?"
This parallels the waiting season before the second coming of Jesus (book of revelation)
Simon the zealot should be representing us watching closely for His coming (not sleeping while waiting). When Jesus said "Didn't I say I'm coming back?" Reminds us that His words before He left the earth will hold true until the end. The heavens and the earth may pass away but His Words (and Promises) remain.

When the Romans rolled up. As with any other scene that they are together in. I think his first thought was for his mother's mental well-being. And then immediately following that the rest of his followers meant well-being.
And by that I I mean he knows that seeing a group of Romans roll up in force is going to scare the living crap out of all of them for his safety. Though he knows he's completely safe because its not time yet. He was also Probably a little bit glad that Simon was fishing when they showed up. That might even be why he sent them out to do it.

    ¡Hola, Leonardo!
I really like your reaction to these episodes, and actually the question you make in 51:28 about why did Jesus want to persuade his cousin not to go to Jerusalem is actually a very old one, formulated by many Christian thinkers (St. Agustine, St. Thomas Aquinas...). And it implies 2 questions in 1: first, about the nature of Christ, the Divine omniscient nature of the Son of God, that knows what his Father's plan is about, and the human -son of Mary- nature that feels, that doubts as any other person.
The second question is the old mistery between what's God plan for any of us vs. our own free will... Both questions are deep misteries of Theology and for that they are very legitimate questions. So kudos for being so genuinely curious and inquisitive

The Lord layed it on my heart to remember all of us on his commandment to love one another... How often do we judge a person by appearance/behaviour/past? Mostly its a small thought: uh, he/she looks ugly/fat/strange/... (fill in whats on your mind) but - do we want to be judged by our own appearance/weight/past?? I know its difficult and we can't control our thoughts - but maybe we can instantly say "sorry" in our thoughts und try to think otherwise. We know nothing about this person, we never walked in her/his shoes so who are we to judge? Let us try to make a difference as the Lord told us ❤❤❤

So, the livestream commenter who mentioned that Jesus knew John’s arrest was part of the Divine Plan is referencing traditional Scriptural interpretation; Dallas’ narrative from the prior episode where Jesus questions John’s choice was entirely creative license. No, I’m not knocking Dallas’ spin; nor am I questioning the traditional interpretation. But when it comes to parts of the narrative that Dallas has not yet reached, a lot of viewers default to Scripture or traditional interpretation of Scripture when discussing character motivations.

Right, from what I remember of that last moment he spoke with John the Baptist he was asking him if he was truly ready to face the consequences of accusing Herod, not questioning his faith. Jesus told Quintus that John TB knew what he was getting himself into.

I hope to join you live the next (and last) time you do this. I have enjoyed watching you react and found your insights inspiring.
I about lost it when you mentioned "What do you Meme?" It's one of my fave channels.
In answer to your question about why Jesus admonished John before going to Herod, it's true that it's not in the Bible. But I think what the writers are getting at is that later, while in prison, John will send his followers to ask Jesus if He's really the one or not. It seems like John's faith began to waver a bit while in prison. So I think what they're going for is that Jesus knew that John would later have these thoughts and might get a bit mixed up about what the real nature of their mission was.

John was human and that means he has the freedom to choose his own path and that is what he wanted to do. God only guides us not control us.

I'm kind of late to the discussion lol, but one thing I love about this episode is how calm Jesus is. He is the Messiah, He is all knowing. His followers... know this about him and yet they still doubt. They have all that they need to feel reassured. It is a test of faith. Jesus has even given them an assignment for while he is detained and they get so wrapped up in worry they forget everything. I do this all the time... lol I have to stop and remind myself... "Gods got this. Whatever happens. It will be okay." And the irony, because He is all knowing, Jesus knows what his disciples must be prepared to face. Everything with him is a learning experience IMO. All his actions have purpose. Fulfilling the will of God.
Concerning your question regarding Johns arrest and Jesus asking him if it was the right thing to do. This moment really makes Jesus human for me. He knows what is coming, He knows it cannot be avoided, but His humanity makes him want to delay it as long as possible. It is a reminder of the phrase "If not now, when?" And Jesus understands that once certain events take place, the rolling stone, rolls faster. John is destined to do Gods will, but he has the choice to wait a little longer and not be so anxious for prophecy to manifest. When? We all ask when. When will this pain go away? When will I find that someone? When will I finally be happy? When is the end of days when God will bring his people home?
I am so enjoying this journey with you. Looking forward to more. Blessings

Hi, I've watched you for a while now and I love your videos as I love this show. You are doing a great job and I thank you for it. I just want to point out, you've mentioned a couple of times in other videos that you grew up Catholic. I am Catholic having converted from an Evangelical background. This show's depiction of Jesus is very very Catholic, the depiction is also Evangelical. My point is Jesus is Jesus. I'm truly sorry that you feel like you didn't meet this Jesus in the church of your childhood because He most certainly is present there. Also I'm very glad you are meeting Him now, may you be Blessed.

If Mary Magdalene didnt go astray and the events didn't happen, Jesus wouldn't have been able to show how merciful God is to repentant sinners who come back to Him (like Prodigal son story). Sometimes God allows terrible/unimaginable things to happen so that He can show us what His Power can do and what His Heart is capable of doing for His children

Excellent question about what we think may have been going through Jesus' mind as the Romans approached!
Maybe he thought, "What is this inconvenient interruption all about?' Maybe He prayed and asked The Father to lead Him in His words and actions. Maybe He laughed inwardly at their pride to think that they had authority over him, but maybe He was more saddened by the states of their prideful hearts. Jesus is a Wonderful mystery sometimes.

@30.9 was asked how you would ask Jesus help you with a gambling addiction or something to that effect. After getting off alcohol and drugs in which I had to humble myself to ask help from Jesus I in my intelligence starts gambling 15 years after sobriety cause I was bored. The end results was always the same effects as my last hit of dope: emptiness 😭. While in a casino in Louisiana, I once more had to humble myself to Christ and it's been 15 years since. I was able to help my grandkids and my greats or others who could use it. Very rewarding. I was practically a non-believer before sobriety but He made me see differently. A most loving and caring God if you seek Him. 🙌

WE have to be so careful thinking we are supposed to be a cookie cut out of our neighbor! We are all process in different ways. If one is a mystic we know the answer to this. Some live in their heads, some in their bodies, some in their emotional body/heart. The way Jesus points is in into our hearts. We have to get out of our heads and go there. But that makes us very vulnerable and we have learned how not to be that! Vulnerable is the only way to the heart.

Either God calls us or we are looking for him, in my experience I was looking for him and God knew I was ready, I knew how he died, but I wanted to see him out off the cross, I wanted to believe that he is alive. He wanted me to know him and I has to know that he was 100%human and 100%God. The more I got to know his humble loving self , I would felt his presence , his Holy Spirit would be their in the moments of prayer, his love is undescribable, I felt so unworthy of his love, I would cry feeling his love compation , it humble my heart, he made me safe with him that all that I was holding I could let go, pass error, anger, regret, sadness, sexual immorality, behaviors that are damaging to myself. I love Jesus because he let me show him all this, I asking him to help me. I have repented so many times he has not rejected me once. It's because of his kindness that feel love for God, his presence is love and peace.

As to why Yeshua tried to suggest a different course of action to John (Yohanan in Hebrew)...It was because Yeshua was fully God AND fully man. Just because he knew what was to happen as part of the Divine plan, Yeshua's humanity was sorrowful about John's impending death. They were cousins, and Yeshua didn't WANT His cousin to suffer or die. In the end, Yeshua and John followed the will of our Father (Abba).
