Not procrastinating. Malaysians, Thais, Colombians, Vietnamese and others understand that life is SHORT, so they enjoy/live life every day. They sip coffee/tea for a couple hours and/or take an afternoon nap/siesta. They are never on-time! lol
People living in Tokyo, HK, Singapore, New York don't understand that; they are too busy working and making $$$.

Can definitely sense Aki's melancholy through the video. He's already so used to the more "relaxing" way of life in Malaysia. The part about "not making noises to disturb his neighbours in Japan" is very typical of the Japanese culture. While it's good to be civic minded and care about other people's feelings, I feel that the Japanese tend to "overdo" this to the extent that the Japanese themselves feel very subdued and stressed out by these societal norms.

Aki san, it is such a heart warming video. Your video made me have teary eyes while nodding in agreement of those 7 things. I used to whine ( and still am ) about how things in Malaysia not going the way I want it esp. the policies, politics etc but I realised I should be enjoying those little things more rather than worrying about things beyond my control. Watching and listening how the non Malaysians ( Japanese, Koreans, Indonesians ) appreciate what Malaysia has and they do not have , make me feel humble. I live in a country in Middle East and said to be one of the melting pot countries, but the vibes is different and Malaysia is still the best ( im biased but it is ). Even many told me why you come all the way to when Malaysia has so much to offer . Always said, Malaysia is imperfect, yet there are so many beauties to be discovered in those imperfection.

Malaysian Policies and Politics were in turmoil and haywires since the first day of our independence in the 50s. But it does not killed the country or the people. It never become a big problem for Malaysian or foreigners in Malaysia. We feel worried and concerned because we listened too much to our politicians and to malaysian media who always talk bad and hype about the negativity in Malaysia and it makes us forget how blessed we are as a Malaysian with many more positive and fun things about Malaysia.

    No.7 hit me differently.
I can't say for sure to say that Malaysian is the kindest or what so, but at least to the extend of my own experience as Malaysian is similar to yours, Aki.
Growing up, there were so many occasion where my dad gave ride to stranger he just met on the side road.
Even for myself as an adult now, whenever I saw someone have walking on the highway or have issue with their vehicle, at the very least I would stop to ask if anything I can help.
Me myself been in the situation where other stranger help me out number of time, and not even one accept my offer to repay back.
I guess its the chain of kindness where you receive kindness from one stranger and you repay it by helping out other stranger.
I believe many people does not really pay attention to this because it just feel natural to do so.

For Malays, the kindness is indeed due to the Malay culture itself which suits the teachings of Islam. The culture revolves around it. But even before Islam came, the Malay society is known for its politeness and gentleness.
Aki, if you have the opportunity to learn about Islam and Malay culture itself, you'll understand why majority of the people which is Malays act kindly and selflessly even to strangers.
Also, 'Belief in God' is one of the National Principles of Malaysia, so it is indeed shows that Malaysia is a religious country. Like other races with their specific religion.

Regarding point number 7, can't deny the fact that the Malaysian tends to help peoples when they're in trouble. One time when I was going back home from my high school, my bike ran out of fuel and this one "pakcik" or ojii-san suddenly came to me and towed my bike to the nearest gas station and he even paid for my fuel, which makes me kinda touched by his kindness. I still remembered him to this day but didn't have the chance to thank him enough.

These are all the things we should be thankful for. Sometimes we forget about how great Malaysia is and we have Aki to remind us of it. ☺

Most people in Malaysia, Malaysians or foreigners are attached to food. We talk about lunch while having breakfast. We plan what to eat for dinner while choking on lunch. Im married to a Turk, his country is like paradise, food is great but I can only stay 3 months annually coz I miss Malaysian food and Malaysian vibes. I dont take PR or change citizenship coz I dont want to live there longer than 3 months. I dream about roti canai or laksa or meehoon sup or Nasi Lemak after a month there.

No 7, i just want to share a similar story. 1 time at Aeon Maluri parkings, a chinese auntie approached me n started speaking in Chinese. After realising that i am a malay, she told me that she need helps with her car flat-tire. so i helped by changing it with spare tire. She offer me some money, yet i refuse. She insisted, so i just told her to donate the money to others in need way more than i do/ charity, & she promised me to do so ;-)

Please do come back again and visit us as and when you feel is the right time. I've been watching your pass n recent videos, especially u and your companion (the girl) can't remember her name having nasi dagang at the stall, i also hv not eaten nasi dagang for quite some time. As for char kway teow my wife tried to cook at home, also not that bad. I would say 80-90% close to original char kway teow. Anyway i love your video shorts and comments that you given abt Malaysian culture is heart warming. Wish you to get another best short for the next visit okiie. See yeahh..
