The coolest part of this is at the beginning when warren tunes his guitar off of the written pitch harmonic WITH a Leslie warble effect going. He’s got great ears lol.
Amazing how he soloed over that nice 5/4 groove. Very naturally. Stupid nu soul musicians nowadays always have to show off how their pieces have one beat more or one beat less than normal, making it sound intentionally odd. This is just pure and simple awesomeness, and it's not even that simple. Also the time signature changes sound extremely effortless. Love these guys
one of the best tunes by Mule...they are a killer live band but check out Warrens solo on the studio version...he strangles those high notes at the peak of his solo&his string goes flat-the producer turns his tuning peg while Warrens hangin on the note...and he comes out of his bending rampage in tune....thats cool as hell that he kept it like that!an honest genuine talent that doesnt have to be perfect...
An awesome selection from Govt Mule would be any of the Deep End cds. The band is live and, in one (I can't remember which) there is a bonus dvd with 40 min of the show featuring songs not on the cd portion. If you grew up on Allmans and Zeppelin and enjoy gritty vocals and the greatest sounding rock guitar tones ever recorded, then you will really like Govt Mule.
Right on the money with that comment. Nothing like the early Mule versions of this little diddy. btw - Warreny rips it up here. Perfect song for them. RIP Woody.
andy hess seems to get a lot of stick from mule fans..i think he is a fantastic bass player and very very melodic...check out his bass solo with mule...its incredible!!!..allen was a great player but andy hess can certainly groove!!!!!!
wow. warrens playing is unreal. and he is still improving. i saw him play this in 95, it was life changing experience..peace

That octave effect haynes uses (i think an oc-2) is absolutely hypnotic when combined with his melodic phrasing. wow.
