Rivers vocals are done with a tongue and throat shaped polyphonic effect where Collaps was doing straight vocal singing.
It must of been amazing for both guys battling against their best friend and tag team partner in the final. So cool to see. Both Colaps & River deserved to be in the final and I would've been happy with either of them winning.

Colaps explained in a livestream that due to the dry mouth/cold air issue at GBB21, neither he nor River were able to use the tongue flute (melodic near-poly whistle/flute sound achieved by making a U with the tongue and modulated by moving it) and River had to find alternatives for a lot of his melodies. In the first round you can see he had to vocalize w/ chest tapping to achieve the arpeggios because tongue flute was FUBAR. Great video as always!

I think river waved to colaps on colaps’ second round to remind him it was a battle and not a showcase. He kept looking at the crowd instead of his opponent
No it was because that filler part was a bit strange and imo didn't fit in his round and dropped the energy level in the room.

What I dislike about most people using technicality is that they just spam it for the sake of it. Like River from 9:12 - 9:40, sure that 1-2-3-2 was cool but it was spammy and had no connection to the rest of the set
But when it makes structural sense like in Colaps' or Footboxg's rounds with good flow and proper stops instead of just spamming it, that's where I can really appreciate it. Or like in River's "My Way" track - it's very complex and technical, and yet so musically pleasing and well-structured
A slip of your tongue made me wonder whether, instead of Rogue Wave, their tag team should've been called Relapse.

3:26 Bro idk if ur just joking, but how do you come to think Scott speaks german there? 😂 In Swissbeatbox battles it is tradition to say "Crowd, I say the three you say the two and the one" in the beatboxer's language (only the numbers three, two, one ofc). So River' is french, there's even a bloody french flag in the title lmao, so obviously Scott speaks french there, he said "Crowd, I say the trois (3), you say the deux (2) and the un (1)". You don't need to know french, you just need to pay attention bro 😂 He mentioned enough times that we are dealing with french guys in this battle, ion get it how you come to the conclusion that Scott's speaking german 😭
