  • In celebration of Labor Day, I'm taking a look at the connections between movies about people working in the dreariest and most depressing offices in film.
    From Office Space to The Apartment to Horrible Bosses... these movies will help you really appreciate your day off.

    This channel is criminally underrated. Great effort put in each video. Keep it up!

      Thanks. I really appreciate it. I think I'd probably still do the videos even if no one watched, but it's good to know that some people enjoy them. I like doing the research and talking about my favorite movies, so setting a schedule to make a video each week is a great motivator to do that.
      I've finished the costume episodes, so I'm back to movie trivia starting on Monday.

    I'm sitting on my bed and it's not Labor Day.
    Still love the videos.

    I would have never put all of that together. You are the man. Either that, or you are very strange.

      I vote for strange. These are the videos I have the most fun doing. They take some planning/mapping, but they’re a great way to get out a ton of one-off pieces of trivia I have in my head that I can’t fit into anything else.

    The office in The Apartment is familiar because it's the same layout as the open floor of the Washington Post in All the President's Men.

    • @AMillionMovies
      @AMillionMovies  Před 3 lety +1

      Very similar. I remember that one and the office in 9 to 5 (at least at the end of that movie) both being open, but with maybe more color to them.

    Jeff, are you still making these great videos? I have seen nearly all that I can find and just wonder if you still post. I really enjoy seeing these and hearing your detailed narration.

    • @AMillionMovies
      @AMillionMovies  Před 2 lety +1

      Maybe. I need to find a way to do them that doesn’t result in copyright flags, which is more of a challenge than I anticipated.

    Carl Sagan had an encounter with a celebrity name sake who didn't realize he was talking to the celebrity himself. After a misunderstanding about Dr. Sagan's name his driver said, "Oh, you see, I thought you had the same problem as me. My name is William F. Buckly.
    There is a singer who has my same name (including my middle name) who is a singer. He's pretty good, but I will call him a "no talent ass clown" if he "makes it"
    I sent him a letter and he laughed and said, "I can't make any promises.
    I think if he does make it, he should at least send me every 10th check or so.

    I think you should make a Filx Degrees of Seperation episode on the 1954 film, Creature from the Black Lagoon?

      That's an interesting idea and I'll keep it in mind. I saw that movie again just last April at the TCM Classic Film Festival. It still holds up well.

    0:30 Just so you know, as a welder (blue collar) I am going to have to kick your ass for that "case of the Mondays" comment.
    I have worked with plenty of guys who are just like the guy in Office Space.

    Hey Jeff, how about one more degree for you personally? Jamie Foxx is from Terrell,Texas. Yes Jeff Terrell, same spelling. His real name is Eric Bishop. Just thought you might have a chuckle about it.

      @AMillionMovies  Před 4 lety +2

      I knew that. I’ve never visited, but it’s on my list of places to go someday. I once lived not too far from Terrell, NC, but I don’t think anyone famous is from there.

    Glengarry Glen Ross is by far the worse movie I have ever seen.
    It was painful to watch.
    Have you done a video on the 1974 movie,"The Longest Yard"?

    • @AMillionMovies
      @AMillionMovies  Před 6 lety +1

      Nothing yet on The Longest Yard. I don’t think I’ve included any Burt Reynolds movies so far, which is a miss for me since I grew up watching so many of them - Smokey, Cannonball Run, Hooper, Deliverance, etc. I’ll add that to the list and see if I can work it into a future episode.

      You are so right! Glengarry Glen Ross is horrible. I watch it about twice a month. I realize that all addictions to horrible vices are bad and certainly this one is no different.
