I'm stunned by the beauty of this dancer's lines, timing and gentle quality. Ballet has turned into acrobatics. Oh, this is beautiful.
I literally came to this video via a search for this pas de deux after not being able to watch a modern version with technical robots dancing the roles. I was so sickened by what ballet's become I needed this to remind me of why I love (or used to - I won't even attend a live ballet these days because it's so disappointing) the art form.
The chemistry between these two dancers just leaps off the screen.
Efremova is perfect. Her expression of the music, every detail. Flawless. Wow. Such a dancer.
This is one of the loveliest Grand Pas de deux! Every line, every extension done with care and elegance. Svetlana dances with lightness, ease and airiness. Thank you for sharing this gem.
Couldn't agree more!
She was such a beauty, such an artist. She passed away in June of this year; what a loss.
Awwww.......
100% agree
You are right!
For me, this exemplifies everything that I love about classical ballet. We seem to have lost some of that along the way. Efremova sure does look like Suzanne Farrell in that opening frame!
This is so perfectly done. She is marvelous!
Absolutely exquisite ...The pirouettes are just perfection and there is a fluidity and masculinity with empathy and compassion within the lifts that I have never seen before and is quite amazing to watch .
THANK YOU X
This is so beautiful. It is the antidote to stress. Bravo! Thank you for sharing this.
Efremova was incredible, what a powerful and exquisite dancer. ❤
Wow. not an extra movement. Everything placed as it should be and just absolutely beautiful to watch.
So precise and at the same time calm and beautiful. No feeling of anxiety whilst watching.
I have never Seen something so beautiful
The thing is whether its classical or otherwise, dance has become more about the tricks than the dance.
This makes me so happy! I never cared much about ballet, but I think it's because all the performances I've seen were focused on the theatrics and how impressive the dancers can be, rather than really telling a story.
That's how I feel, at least after watching this video. The dancers are perfectly in synch with each other and the music, there's no unnecessary spins or jumps or anything. They're inviting us to enter their world, and I've never felt like that watching ballet before. I don't know how to explain it, it just makes me happy. ❤
Pure divine artistry, the lines and effortless grace is unbelievably beautiful.
Today's dancers? They care only about tricks
I'm also stunned! Magnificent.
Even the choreography is... so difficult and yet they make it seem so easy. She is so beautiful and you see her beauty does not come from nature. Her arms... aaah, you clearly see the education she had in the strength of her legs and lightness of her arms. The first time I saw this pdd I cried. And I never get bored of watching this over and over again... it is full of honesty. It is so easy to enjoy this... I am watching it again, this is the third time in a row today that I see it. Still enjoying. Great word to describe her: inspiration.
Agreed! Aplomb on the ground and in the air, posing or turning and even in transition. Pure Vaganova and musicality that makes one weep at the beauty of it all. It’s almost holy in it’s purity and efficiency. 💞🙏
Absolutely Stunning! Utterly amazing!
A jewel and a masterpiece of classical ballet performance! Thank you!!!
Efremova is beautiful.
@@pediatrapaola 😂
o no?
@@beatiroide
@@pediatrapaola Sì, li leggo spesso anch'io.

I watched TIL the end. That good!! Usually find the pas and coda for Nutcracker so tedious and badly danced with raised shoulders, low core control and the rest. Not so these two!!
Wonderful! I can see how is control she is and yet so light and delicate. Thanks for sharing history with us.
Sooooo beautiful!!!! Jesús!!
So precise in the legs and so held in the back!! The ballerina dancing sugar plum is gorgeous inspiration 😍 added to my playlist to watch again and again and hopefully get some tips haha
OH! She just passed away! (24 November 1946 - 19 June 2020) :((((((
Gorgeous. I don't know enough about ballet to say anything other than I have never seen the pas de deux adagio danced with such mastery beauty grace. However, I also don't want to criticize today's dancers. Why go from one extreme to the other. Yes they are more technical but also reflect a different age a different mentality. It's hard not to love and admire Zaharova, Lopatkina, Sylvie Guillem an any others including the newest dancers of the great ballets of the world. I've always looked to the Mariinsk as the pinnacle of artistic expression in dance but there are many great companies featuring fabulous dancers. We are veey fortunate to have these performances on youtube . Thank you so much for this unforgettable performance!
Was there a time when the style used to be this way standard? The over crossed passé? In front of the knee rather than to the side more like a retiré? For the women?
