All the drummers today with their impossibly fast blast beats, mind blowing fills, and incredibly tight double bass don't sound a tenth as good as Mick Harris just beating the living fuck out of everything as hard as he can.
Hellz yea! Mick is a legend. Such a character too, the comic relief of the band back then. Sucks he left the band just a year or so after this video.

No doubt. Micky actually doesn’t over rush the songs like Danny. Sadly modern Napalm death, while still rather damn good, doesn’t carry the weight or groove from this era. Everything’s too rushed and shortcutted. Micky takes the slow parts and just maxes them out.

Not really comparable to each other, Metallica and Slayer are completely different genres. Still, Napalm Death is/was a live force to be reckoned with

I just cant believe this took place 24 years ago. This melodies make the perfect balance for all the nowadays crap music. And best of all is you can see perfectly how the members of Napalm Death are having loads of fun playing.
Napalm are a good definition of how music should be in my opinion. Play what you love and love what you play. It's cool too how they stand for something. Somethings that I see as virtues and try to follow myself

I saw them open for Sepultura and Sacred Reich in Cleveland in 91 I think, supporting this album. I had never heard such speed and guttural vocals before, juxtaposed with his proper English accent song introductions in between I just couldn't stop laughing, it was sooo great. Now that it's over 30 years later I realize just how innovative and legendary they were back then. Good times!

Yep, I hate when grindcore drummers do it delicately, with more technique rather than energy. This includes Danny, unfortunately.
@@tarchalin Yep, You don't get that wall of sound with light touch. I was playing drums today to practice for upcoming recording and I was wondering how to get that. I found it here 😂. My muscles are not used to play this way so it was exhausting but worth it to practice.

Harmony Corruption is one of the best hardcore music albums ever recorded. I can't count how many times I listened to it since it came out decades ago.

Loved this show! Never forget seeing this as a stoned metal head in 1992 or 93 & immediately turned me onto the more EXTREME bands in the Metal genres, like Death & grind. From Napalm I got into Carcass, Morbid Angel, Suffocation, etc.
This was my favorite back in the day.... what a treat to see it again.

I know ND didn’t seem to like Harmony Corruption much but that record, Mass Appeal Madness, and Utopia Banished were perfection. Wish I could have heard Micky Harris drumming for ND live. Man has so much non rushed groove.

Yep, Harmony and Live Corruption were turning point in my life.
Had this on VHS tape back in the days, watched this more often than any porno, people thought I was weird.
Without a shadow of a doubt this is the absolute best lineup ever in the history of napalm death, mick harris's lack of technical knowledge is what makes the drumming sound so right for the sound,
Not hating on Danny but his style is very much more technical and clinical in its approach, if you listen to suffer the children with mick playing then with Danny it's a completely different song,
I prefer the frantic on the edge sound of good old mick Harris.
Me too. I hate that modern polite-looking style of blast beats, when all those self-proclaimed drumming experts barely move their wrist to play blast beats. Grindcore requires intensity, not technics, and Mick is the champion in that one.

Finally some Harmony Corruption live stuff with Mick Harris (not the same without him). Been a long time fan. I still have the Scum Vinyl LP (green cover) with the photo collage. This band was a gateway for me back in the day to other bands with their former members: Terrorizer, Carcass, Cathedral, Morbid Angel, Unseen Terror, and dare I mention Godflesh?! LOL Grind/Death/Thrash till I DIE!!! >8)

I was there for both gigs! I bunked off school for the Cardiacs gig which was filmed in the afternoon. Then Napalm Death was in the evening. I broke my finger stagediving.

Yeah. I love this old era so much. I was skateboarding and jamming this record back in 1990. Barney did go more crust core with ND than Death Metal. Closer to Scum and the DIY days now than the Uber production of the Scott Burns time. Though I miss that Morrisound feel. Massive and gutsy.
He didn't lose it, he sacrificed that shit in the line of duty. When it comes to sheer power, nobody can touch Barney Greenway. The last "hardest working man in show business". :)

I first saw this video playing on a projector in between bands at the first all-ages local metal gig I ever went to back in 1991. I'd never seen anything like it. It was one of those 'something changed in me' moments. I went to my local metal purveyor and had him order it in for me on VHS. I remember that it cost $50 and that was a lot of money to me at the time. I still rate this as the best live metal vid I've ever seen.

Seen these guys five times in Hollywood at the Hollywood Palladium back in the day. Barney sounds live just like he does on the albums. Most Death metal vocalist don't sound the same live. Very high energy shows. Stage diving was still happening. They always let people on stage. At one show they had to stop cause too many people got on stage, a microphone and a drum cymbal was stolen during a song. Barney refused to continue until they were returned. These guys are masters of what they do.
They were in their Prime right here. I was lucky enough to see them multiple times. Shows with Morbid Angel, Sepultura, Kreator, Carcass... Good Times!
