- This is a list of the 100 most iconic video game songs that everyone should know!
Iconic : Widely recognized and acknowledged
Although I tried my hardest to be objective, it will always be the nature of something like this to be biased. I have consulted with other people and pooled thoughts regarding potentially iconic songs I'm unfamiliar with, but it was difficult to fully separate my nostalgia from logic. Nevertheless, enjoy. :)

You know, in a way, this is an excellent list of "videogames everyone must play at least once before they die".
As for the songs themselves, a few choices I may disagree with (many honorable mentions should've swapped places with some in the actual Top 100), but this is probably 90% accurate and a great list nonetheless. Awesome job!

Master System is unheard of in USA while sold buckets in Europe, same can be said for the Commodore and later Amiga systems.
Shadow of the Beast for example, legendary audio track and while first release on Amiga it was ported to almost every other console or PC at the time... except Nintendo.

Thanks for the nostalgia trip, many of these games defined my childhood.
I recognise so many of these that it makes me feel so incredibly old.

Yeah, it usually does, I honestly think that the video game with the most beautiful music is The Legend of Zelda series, in my personal opinion.
Nintendo in general dominates most of these lists :P
@@giannoschaidopoulos5239 because Nintendo in general had better marketing to a wider audience. More people have heard of Mario than God of War or Metal Gear Solid for instance. Nintendo purposely chose to market their products to be family friendly to make loyal customers out of kids, who would grow up playing their games to enjoy them the same when they grow up to adulthood. It's a smart tactic. Especially because a lot of the kids that grew up playing the NES, SNES, Gamecube, Wii, etc are now buying their kids a Switch and the cycle will simply continue.

For me, one I would have added (not that Nintendo needed another song on the list) would be the Calamari Inkantation from Splatoon due to how huge of an impact it had on Japanese audiences and how the game itself has become the fastest-selling video game series to date over there.
I’m just trying to find good songs to try to play on piano, ended up finding a museum of memories. Not even just the video anymore. Even the comments are a catalogue of other people’s memories of their history with games. To you, the video’s creator, i tip my hat to you, you’ve brought to the world a place of unity. Took me right back to when to the first time I fired this bad boy up. I got it for Christmas in 1998. I happened to get a "bad flu" (I was sick but it wasn't as bad as I made it seem to be) right at the end of Christmas break which in total gave me a full 10 days to play OOT. goosebumps indeed. Those ten days are literally stuck in my 37 year old memory stash. Great days they were....

Great list! Definitely missed some top 100 iconic ones & had other less iconic ones replace them, but still an amazing list. Biggest one missed I saw was A Link to the Past Dark World Theme. More iconic than either of the LTTP songs picked here, and more iconic than that Kirby one after it for sure.

This is a great list. So many good picks I thought you'd miss, like Hell March. Corridors of Time is the only one I'd say is clearly a mistake to leave off. Personally I'd also add Drowning from Sonic, switch one of the Kirby songs to Green Greens, switch to the MGS2 theme instead of MGS1, add that one song from Puzzle Bobble/Bust-A-Move, and add Terran One from Starcraft. Then there are the games that aren't well known enough to be on this list but still have some amazing music like Vectorman, Interstate '76, Total Annihilation. And then there are the iconic series that have so many good songs it wouldn't be fair to add them all, like Mario's athletic themes or Sonic's Star Light Zone or Ice Cap Zone.
