    This is amazing, thank you for this! Been working on triads lately and this just ties it all together. Have been trying to understand what I’m playing instead of just remembering shapes and it’s opened up a lot. But for this i feel like I might have to start off memorizing the shapes (some are easier than others because they are small tweaks of typical barre chords) thanks again!

    To be honest with you, I think I was a better player when I was in the garage and only knew about blues scales, and only knew about them because I figured out songs from the radio by ear. Then I was in a big band in college, and the music was so complicated, and I really had no idea what it was supposed to sound like. Whatever it was, it wasn't the kind of music I listened to. It was OK but now, 40 years later, I am going back to the basics. Eddie Van Halen and Angus Young.

    Ho sempre visto il jazz come un genere difficile ed ampio. Ho studiato chitarra moderna per tre anni ed amo il blues ed il country / rock. Ovviamente ho affrontato linguaggi jazz affini al blues, ma sia i metodi che il mio ultimo insegnante non mi hanno aiutato a potenziare le mie capacità! Alcuni hanno un dono "divino" suonano ad orecchio ripetendo tutto (Montgomery, Benson ad esempio nel jazz!) (Van Halen e Bolin nel rock!) ma la maggior parte di noi, me per primo deve studiare per poter capire! Voglio seguire le tue lezioni perchè mi piace il tuo approccio didattico. Spero di migliorare in questo magnifico linguaggio musicale! Ciao. Antonello
    I've always seen jazz as a difficult and broad genre. I studied modern guitar for three years and I love blues and country/rock. Obviously I faced jazz languages similar to blues, but both the methods and my last teacher didn't help me enhance my skills! Some have a "divine" gift of playing by ear repeating everything (Montgomery, Benson for example in jazz!) (Van Halen and Bolin in rock!) but most of us, myself first and foremost, have to study in order to understand! I want to follow your lessons because I like your teaching approach. I hope to improve in this magnificent musical language! HI. Antonello

    Thank you very much for this video which clears up everything. Just a little question of understanding. In the exercise we are in C major or when you make the GMaj7 chord at 9:45 there is a note that makes up the chord that is not found in the C major scale. Could someone explain this to me please? The note is D string 4th fret. This would help me a lot to understand things. Thank you so much for this excellent video.

    Ok I’m on “crazy” spectrum of things I dive into the deep end and figure it out while I’m floating, this shi looks absolutely confusing however I see the relative speaking’s thru music theory but I’m still confused. Guitar hero helps me visualize tabs better and finger placement/strengthen but geez I feel like Clapton, Hendrix and the rest of the non readers that can’t read the sheets but I’m good at patterns so I’m not stressing too bad. The legends before me give me hope because reading is insanity. Feel free to comment because I’m starting at my notebook
    Dorian = mode
    Harmonic minor = scale
    7 flat keys
    7 sharp keys
    1 that’s none C
    That’s all I got folks tune in on the next episode of my musical finding

    • @tizmon
      @tizmon Před 6 měsíci +10

      Hate comments like this that are completely meaningless in many ways. The biggest reason comments like these are made because these are made by those who don’t play. There are huge difference between jazz music listeners and players. For those who play just listening won’t do. They will have to listen to it enough times that they can copy it with their instruments. Sounds good saying start with liking and listening. For playing that’s meaningless and this guy has no idea.
