    NEVER compare cosplayers. Like “Oh I saw someone cosplaying the same thing! You look so much better.” It makes cosplayers very uncomfortable

      NOTHING makes me feel more awkward than "Oh, I saw some other cosplayer cosplaying the same character as you, you look so much better" cuz if I say thanks I'll look like a jerk, if I say that my cosplay probably isn't better I'll look like I just want attention. Can't we all just be equal?

      As someone who buys/pieces my cosplays together, I 100% agree with this. Like you said sometimes some one may not have the skill set or time to make a costume and quite frankly sometimes their interest lies a lot more in the wearing the costume/having fun aspect of the hobby than in the crafting aspect, and they shouldn't be made to feel ashamed or any less of a cosplayer because of it. I plan to learn to sew soon and have some ideas for a few cosplays/portions of cosplay to make, but I'm also not going to stop buying my cosplays either.

      @sunnydoom2726 Před 3 lety +1

      And even when you buy you still usually have to adjust it or add a few things to make it look a little better. I usually do a cost analysis when I get to building a cosplay. How much $ to buy, what is the quality, can I buy it and how badly do I want to dress as this character. For example when I went as the Winter Soldier the costume could be bought but it was either really cheap looking or very expensive. But I was dead set on being the Winter Soldier. So I made the "metal" arm and bought/thrifted the rest. Blood, sweat and tears went into that arm but it came out awesome. The rest of the costume is pretty meh but the arm is the important part.

    I've had a friend tell me that she hated my character that I was cosplaying and then proceeded to go off on every reason why she hated him. It broke my heart and I nearly got rid of the cosplay but three of my other friends helped me feel better and my love for the character remains. So yeah, definitely don't tell a cosplayer that you hate their character or shout mean things at them. We're obviously cosplaying that character for a reason and just because you may feel differently than we do about a character doesn't mean that we should have mean things said to us about our character.

    I wanna get into cosplay but I always worry about my height (I am petite), my voice (I have a young sounding voice and can’t do a deeper voice to save my life), and the fact the chars I wanna cosplay are males while I’m a female. So this video was a lil bit encouraging.

    I was cosplaying Deku. I’m a woman. I just have the right body for him (in my opinion) someone noticed I was a woman. And they just started saying stuff like “You’re not the right gender”. “Why are you cosplaying a guy?”.
    And you know what? I met up with some of the greatest friend that day and I made so many that I’m still in touch with, that we did the whole 1-A and we had woman that were cosplaying guys and some guys decided to be some woman from the class. We got stares and we still cosplay like them a lot of times.

      I'm 30 now and have been in the cosplay community for a while. I recall crossplay being pretty much accepted like even in 2013 and most people I saw that dressed up as the boys were girls. For example, most Judar (Magi) cosplayers I saw were girls. Why the sudden change in attitude. Wtf?

    I like it when people can cosplay as different characters, even if I don't know them, the fact that they took the time to prepare the outfit, like any necessary wigs or accessories I think are pretty good. The closest I did for cosplay, Ben Kenobi for Halloween last month but I used a red lightsaber so I could store it on my belt.
    And I wouldn't ever point out someone's flaws with a cosplay outfit especially for the look, considering the fact that I also would be self-conscious about that myself.
