- Property agent Eric Wong says relief for renters facing record high rates could be on the way.
Millions of Australians are facing all-time high prices, after asking rents for houses and units jumped in the March quarter.
Vacancy rates are at record lows in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth.
While rates in Adelaide and Brisbane are not much better.
“There is less, and less people looking to rent now because of the rent being so high.
“A lot of people are actually staying put and are trying to negotiate with the current landlord.
“I think the supply might start to increase when people start to move out, when they buy their new home, so there could be relief coming soon.
Stop immigrants coming to the country in the hundreds of thousands would be a way for rents to be cheaper simple solution
Th3e West is in decline so it is now bringing in mercenary immigrants to prop it up, but what do mercenaries all eventually do to their host nation? They generally take a share, if not all of the weak nation.
Although I agree this was happening before they did. However I remember during lockdowns they couldn't rent properties and were lowering rents.

Its to late for ON to fix it prices never "come down" with property they just stop going up. or are over inflated and no one will buy them for that. That is property price crash. Its supply and demand like you saw in the US during the financial crisis. And along came the hedge funds and bought them all up cheap now they are sky high again.

These days its usually demo and rebuild not worth renovating. Or they want to sub divide which is actually better than demo and build a huge mansion as its gives 2 houses on same block.

Governments should be gearing a nation toward basic security of fundamental needs such as security, shelter, food, water etc.
Sitting back manipulating a market for a financial want doesn't really fit into that paradigm.

in the process of moving at the moment. had a look at the listing for my current place and although ive only been here for 1.5 years, they are increasing the rent from 900 to 1200 a week. its outrageous. i hope they dont find a new tennant because that is pure greed.

The headline is "relief" from increasing rents, and all the estate agent can recommend is offering to pay months in advance of bidding higher than others to effectually 'buy' the right to rent the place. Talk about a piece of junk 'clickbait'.

Make sure to rent a place somewhere within walking distance of a university campus. You can make a good profit out of really substandard accommodation for international students because their parents are paying for the expenses, so they'll put up with any kind of rubbish to save their folks some money.
