- My first video shooting the .357 Sig cartridge, using a Glock 32 .357 Sig barrel in my Glock 23. No, it's not really a Glock 32, I suppose, but the Glock 23 and the Glock 32 are essentially the same gun. With the .357 Sig barrel, this Glock becomes a Glock 32.

I love how Hickok always leaves the bullets loose like its a big bowl of candy!
Kinda is lol
Halloween, bullets are painted as candy corn, and targets are the zombie types🧟♀️🧟♂️😄 😄
The bullets are eye candy
Hell yeah!!

A .357 "sigger", that was a close one hickock hahaha
.40 for the range...
-Quick barrel change-
...357 for the carry.
El Sea I would say 357 sig for range and .40 for carry
@@aaronp9835 Why? .357 Sig ammo costs more, and is more powerful. 40 Ammo costs less, and is less powerful. El Sea's comment makes sense, although if someone only buys the .357 barrel for fun, then I see where your coming from.
The Sig has a lot more range than 40, especially more accuracy at range
Dio Black that’s far from the dumbest thing you could do.
That would be to not practice at all.
I’d still say I agree to train with what you carry so your familiar with what’s happening in the moment as much as possible.
💪🏾
"This stuff is not cheap, so I bought 3 boxes...."
I had a difficult time adjusting to my G31 having shot 9mm most of my life several hundred rounds later I love my 357sig. Now this guy picks one up and is shooting lights out with it. He is amazing. Great video.
@jetfuel545, Thanks. Hey, I'm never stressed! Teaching never stresses me out; I take pride in annoying teenagers way more than they can ever annoy me! Lame humor and frequent pop quizzes do the job every time.! :-)
The fact that you can shoot 9mm 357 sig and 40 S&W is my primary reason for buying my Glock 23. I am very pleased with my purchase. Thank you Hickok45 for sharing this with the rest of the world.
The shell expands to the size of a .38 shell upon firing. That work of stretching the shell gives the round much more bang for the buck. The .357 Sig round flies much faster and farther than any other common ammunition, nearly hitting Mach 2 out of the barrel. Being faster, it also has a much flatter, easier to aim, trajectory as aim points get longer. The Sig barrel is absolutely necessary. A normal .40 cal barrel cannot take the stresses. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention: the reason it can fly much much faster than other ammo is that drag goes down the faster it travels above Mach 1. That doesn't make sense, does it? But that's what they pay me big bucks to design aircraft. You don't want idiots to design them. This guy is no idiot. He's great!
I can hit a chin at 80m having not shot in weeks. Such a perfect piece.
That .357sig ammo is a little fire breathing dragon

I shoot the .357 Sig way better than any other caliber. It's just a straight shooter, recoil is very manageable.
I would, but no one locally sells it. I finally bought 500 rounds online from some gunbroker, but I haven't received it yet.
Ethan Chou did you receive it yet?
Daniel Antos very well said I agree 100%
Daniel Antos Randall Santoro I mean it’s called .357 because it’s have some type of comparison ?
Glock42 .380 samething for that one also right ? The same comparison ?
@Focus Fourteen Gonna need some proof of that tale to even approach pondering a half-belief in that story.
My thoughts are all over the place in all the .40 caliber videos I have posted. It's not a magic bullet or anything, but if it's a pathetic cartridge, there are thousands of police departments, competitors, and range plinkers who have not gotten this brilliant message yet. Guess it's a best-kept secret among people who actually use the .40. For people who don't have the option of CCW, it's not as much an issue, but gun carriers tend to be attracted to a substantial round in 9mm size firearms.
I read a review recently where the .357 Sig outperformed the .45, especially penetrating things like car doors. The article said many agencies are going to the Sig for this reason.
Fullhouse 10mm loads are stronger and generally have larger and heavier bullets. It can pierce car doors. The .357 SIG replaced the 357 mag revolvers with some agencies such as the Tennessee Highway Patrol because it can get through windshield glasses etc.
Power, reliability, capacity, range, etc. Yup that's my .357 Sig.😃
Randall Santoro yup i daily a glock 33 for carry.. i love 45 acp but the 357 sig in the glock makes perfect sense for conceal carry.. capacity .. power.. and the bottle neck shape makes it super reliable vs other calibers ;)

@Focke Wulf nope. 10mm best semi auto caliber.
@Focke Wulf look at the penetration of the Underwood ammo in 10mm. Goes directly through bulletproof glass, Underwood extreme penetrator.
@mrsalesco46, The one on the first hillside in front of the pallets is 80 yards; the one on the far hillside in front of the railroad timber wall is 230 yards. You cannot see it from the shooting table. I have to back up to in front of the house on higher ground in order to see past the first hill. That's where we do all the long range 230 yards shoots.
@taylorh5287, Yes, the stock Glock barrels in .357 Sig will interchange with the stock Glock .40 barrels.
I'm sold on the 357 Sig, that will be one of my next gun purchases, however still love my 9mm,s and 40 cal Glocks.
Just get a gun that has a .40 barrel and maybe a 9mm conversion barrel too. Best of all worlds
@@ethanc6406 aka a Glock 22. I already have the 9mm barrel. The .357 is on my list.
I thoroughly enjoy each and every video you have. Thank you very much for dedicating so much time into educating and entertaining all us "gun nuts" out there! On another note you are one hell of a shot! I don't think people truly understand how difficult it is for the "average" shooter to score hits on those small targets at 40-50 yrds away with a handgun. Let alone that gong at 80! Please keep em coming!
I carried on duty my 31 swapped to 40. When going back to 357, always noticed it does shoot slightly higher. Glad to know it's not just me.
@carnut666 , No. I shot a lot of .38 Super back in the early '90s. The 9X25 would be longer than the .38 Super, right? I'd like to see one of those cartridges.
@nepitolk0 , Not sure what "professional" means, but they are probably as good as Glocks, Springfields, M&Ps, or anything else. It generally just comes down to what a shooter thinks feels best and can shoot best. I tend to find the Beretta and the Sig more challenging to shoot well because of the double to single action trigger.
.357 sig is definitely a unique round. Great defense caliber.
@126lma , To further follow-up on that, a really hot, light fast round will usually print lower at closer (7-40 yards maybe) distances, but as you get on out there to 100 or farther, you might see just the opposite; the light, hot round will maybe not drop as fast as the slower heavier round, so then at maybe 150 or 200 yards, the light, fast round might print higher, of course. Lots of variables (barrel length, bullet weight, power factor, etc.)
The Hungarian Keraly 43M submachine gun fired a 9mm Mauser Export and had a range of 600m. So the trajectory probably is pretty flat.
@JimbobOMG, that all a totally different issue from what I see with handgun bullets at modest ranges. Th extreme example is when you shoot a Glazer Safety Slug, for example. Try one of these in your favorite caliber at 20 yards; you might just miss the entire target. These are very light and very fast.
I have a glock 31 and absolutely love this cartridge, and carry it for concealment everyday. The ammo isn't to bad here either,The speer brand hollow point for a box of 50 run about 50 bucks, and the fmj 124 grain I use at the range are 21 bucks a box for 50....Hope to see more of that cartridge, great videos....
I would not go against this man in a gun fight 😂
nooooo ! lol

Besides I'm pretty sure unless you're a bad guy you don't have to worry about it
@@FoundingCZcamsr-2005 I mean just to be fair what if Hitchcock has a rifle too?🤔
You wouldn't be here if you did Haha. The man is a legend
Wow, finally a .357 SIG video. Been waiting a long time for this! Thanks for posting!
Its 2020 Hickok has aged well.
Ten years
As someone looking to purchase their first firearm here shortly I have found myself looking through your video archives for information. All of your videos seem to provide valuable insight. I have shot on several occasions at various ranges and always find myself gravitating and genuinely enjoying the Glock platform. Now I must decide if the .357 sig is a round I would like to own.
I've heard that, but when I study the two frames (Gen 4 Glock 23 and Gen 4 Glock 32) I cannot find anything different at all. Where exactly is the added reinforcement in the G32?
Thanks Hickok for buying this .357 Sig just for us! Sooooo kind!
@126lma , Generally, it gets out the barrel faster and is not as affected by the upward thrust of the handgun. It also depends on the distance we're talking about, though.
the case is from a 10mm. not a .40!!
Holy muzzle flash batman!
I'll recommend not to shoot it at night
thats a myth tnoutdoors9 already dismissed it with 1500fps underwood ammo at night.
Yeah, I have my P226 Legion in .357, it does have some pretty good flash. lol
@MrBikeskill, With handguns at relatively short distances, a lighter, faster bullet WILL impact lower. Sorry, been there and done that too many times. AT longer ranges, it's often just the opposite.
@Vthesurety1 , I, as well as some others, have not been that lucky. I found several years ago that I had to replace the extractor, too, in order to get 100% reliability. Of course, since most people would never carry a Glock with a conversion barrel, I suppose a few malfunctions are not that big a deal.
A 357 sig is my favorite handgun caliber, it doesn't have much recoil, it's consistent, and it's fun to shoot, what more can you ask for
You learn something new everyday. I had no idea the conversion would be so easy. Great video as always. Please update us at some point as to your impressions of the .357 Sig cartridge.
Cheers!
@stealthymountaindeer , At long distance, it usually does, as compared with a slower, heavier round.
@MrClayblasdel , Ditto it all day, but it sure ain't the case at 15 to 20 yards. The ballistics are pretty much irrelevant; it's the fact that the slower, heavy bullet is affected more by the recoil of the gun. It gets slung upwards, more or less. The light, fast bullets are out the barrel without being affected as much. There would be exceptions, of course.
I think air marshals carry special ammo that will not penetrate the wall of the aircraft. Not sure exactly what ammo it is, though. You are right; the biggest downside is the cost of the ammo. Not so much the cost to keep a box or two around, but the cost of training and practicing much could get very, very expensive.
Have a buddy that brought those rounds to the range, highly efficient tangible rounds that penetrate soft targets ( flesh) but will not penetrate the ‘skin’ of the aircraft
Frangible
@tiggerr42431, Thanks. It turned out to be the opposite of what I thought it would be. Sometimes a different barrel dropped in will give a different point of impact, in addition to whatever difference there might be in the cartridge.
It is a way more explosive round than a 9mm. Hard hitting .357Sig is the best ever in my opinion for ankle boot back up carry.
@ThorCat13 , I'm not sure about the XD. Do they make a .357 Sig barrel? I'd check with them first if they do.
Thanks Hicko45! This is just the video I needed to make my final decision in purchasing one of the .357 barrels for my 3 pin older Glock 23. I wasn't sure if the older 3 pin Glock 23 models could hold the pressure. But it is clear that they do. I was thinking about getting the LWD .357 extended ported barrel for it to minimize the recoil a bit and gain a slight distance as well. Keep up the good shooting. I love my older G23 and I love to shoot to. I also, got the convert 40 s&w -9mm. 3 in 1gun
Thanks for your videos. I just bought a GL31 barrel for my Glock 22.
I started out with a Glock 32 and grew to love it. I was forced to switch to a Glock 22. After shooting both, I'd have to say I like the 357 Sig round. It seems to be a more accurate round, all things considered.
Appreciate the channel. My 9 year old and I watch all the time.
@nepitolk0 , I do like them, though. Like the Beretta, they they are sexy, well-made guns. I seem to have my hand up closer to the bore axis on a Glock, too. I notice a difference when I hold a Sig. Don't mean to bad mouth them; it's just that I've shot, so, so, much that I really notice the little things that make a difference.
Hey Hick 45 very educational as always. I bought a gen4 G20 (10mm). I then bought 40cal,357Sig,6" 10mm barrel (for grizzlies here in s florida). I fig I bought 3 great glocks for price of one. Teaching is in your blood.
This was a neat video where one of the most important aspects to me was watching a trained shooter with a brand new gun debug the traits in real time as we watch and you can see the analytical side working to figure out point of aim. In such a short time with relative few shots, the point of aim discovery process was already working. The fascinating part on this one is seeing the analysis in front of us.
Get on that sig bandwagon maybe the price will slide down
This is not a man to get in a gun fight with
Thank you for your great ever positive attitude sir. Just a pleasure to watch your videos!
@purkjason , I really just meant that it's nice to have fun on the range after a long day at work. I thoroughly enjoy the kids and teaching; that's why I continue to do it.
I retired from a metro department that carried the 357 Sig, now I work at a community college where we carry the Glock 23. I was wondering if I could just switch the barrels as I loved the 357 sig round. You answered all my questions. Love your videos BTW, you are one heck of a shot. Anyone who shoots regularly appreciates your amazing skill with a handgun. I would love to have a place to shoot like you do. Keep the videos coming.

But do you need to switch magazines too or load the g23 mag with .357 ammo
With very reliable feed, blistering velocity, and 13 in the clip, the .357 SIG seems like it would be an ideal personal defense load. Especially in a compact Glock 32.

@CatfishMan43 , , You sure the slide is different on the .357? I didn't know that.
I bought it today! Well I got the glock 31. You turned me into a glock guy. I always talk about you when I go to the gun shops an range in michigan. Thank you for making me into a glock lover. Its just beautiful to me. :) hickok is the best
That fire ball is so mesmerizing 🔥
everyones saying you cant find .357 sig, and i can find it with google instantly, and .357 sig was made to match the performance of a .357 magnum out of a 4'' barrel revolver, and its cheaper then magnum, so id say its a pretty good deal when you compare it to magnum prices, maybe yall dont like ordering online?
not even close... magnum is way powerfull
Yeah I really dont really understand people that only buy guns based on what Walmart offers in ammo. But then again I was born in 89 so what do i know
It was meant to imitate the balistics in 125 grn. Full house for full house loads even 10mm would lose to .357 magnum.
Watched your more updated version of this review today and the upgraded camera and microphone are very noticeable. Personally a huge fan of the .357 Sig however, it does have its negatives. Price is one negative, and it takes time getting comfortable with shooting even if the .40 S&W is comfortable. Penetration is one added benefit for the cartridge as it will have better success engaging a threat through cover and, or concealment. As always good video.
I just picked up my new Glock 23 tonight and have been looking into all the cool stuff I can do with it. After watching this video, getting a .357 sig barrel is now higher on my wish list. Thanks hickok45!!
We need a Part 2 on the .357Sig!
Seems like a LOT more muzzle flash than with most other calibers. That suggests to me that a longer barrel would give significant improvement to muzzle velocity. Any thoughts?
@llammapalluzza , Yep, that's what the gun becomes with a barrel change.:-)
Quick hint... if you are reloading 357 SIG you can make the sizing much easier and less trouble by resizing your empty cases in a .40SAW sizing die before you run it through a 357SIG resizing die... I was amazed just how much easier this made the resizing process...
Happily once fired 357SIG brass is pretty cheap... so reloading the 357SIG really saves money.
FWIW
Chuck
Would you ever review a 239 in .357 Sig? For all us Metal frame DA/SA Gents.
Matthew Ivers That’s my EDC gun!!! Love it!!!!
Thanks for the video! Two of my friends became federal air marshals, they are ONLY allowed to carry .357 sig as their duty weapon. That, in addition to it being the caliber used by the secret service and home land security, I'm sold.
Lol ok glad the 40 cal project got scrapped it's just such a dumpy round, but a shaved down forty cal with a 9.38 super round with 50-60 grains, that's a hot round, just enough speed to take a heavy round out there but not enough to overpenetrate ,only held one never shot one, shot a 10mill once and 40 I imagine it's somewhere in between
hickok has amazing skills, the way he connects with the target is absolutely outstanding.
Keep up the good work Hickok45! Your efforts are appreciated ;)
been wanting to buy a Glock 31 gen 4, good info
That muzzle flash
Thanks Mr. Hickok. I always enjoy you and your sons videos. Man your a good shot. I'll own one of those .357's soon. All of the reviews I have seen, this is a really nice weapon. I also have the model 21 in a .50GI. I love it to. A real power house. Again, thank you sir.
@TYX91101 , I've held them exactly like this for almost daily shooting since the '80s. Guess it must not be a problem. :-)
This will be the gun in my collection! Hail .357 Sig.
Bottom line is ! FBI has stated many times over many years, decades that the 357 mag has had more one shot stops than any other cartridge bar non ! That said, the 357 dig is the next best thing, basically the ballistic equivalent. Nothing better for canceled carry. Just my not so humble opinion. Remember, if you can't react without having to think about it, it could cost you your life. So Practice Practice Practice !!!!!
there is no "the best concealed carry" they all work, if i had to pick 1 pistol i would say the judge in 410 in the best close range pistol. remember that if you a shooting a very hot round at close range it could go through your target and hit something behind it that you dont want it to.
The .357 Sig is nothing close to the ballistics to the .357 Magnum. The .357 Sig is a marketing gimmick....pure and simple!
You sir are incorrect.
@@harrycallahan692 the .357 SIG was made to mimic the 125gr 357 Mag at 1450 fps. My Glock 32, with Underwood 125gr Gold Dots averaged 1527 fps out of 6 shots. The 32 only has a 4.05" barrel, even from 33 with a 3.49" barrel, or averaged 1480 fps.
You really should educate yourself before speaking.
@@M4A3 With the advent of the polymer frame pistols, many manufacturers sought to create the best balance of power, controllability, and ammunition capacity. Enter the firm of Sig-Sauer who took the .40 S & W cartridge and necked the case down to .355 inches. The idea was to duplicate the power of a 125 grain .357 Magnum round in a semi-automatic pistol. Unfortunately their lofty goal was never quite achieved. The .357 Magnum Hornady 125 grain XTP bullet averages 1,500 fps and 624 ft lbs of energy while the 124 grain XTP .357 Sig round turns out 1,350 fps and 502 ft lbs. Things don’t fare any better for the Sig when the larger bullets are used, the 147 grain XTP round is traveling at 1,225 fps and 490 ft lbs while the 158 grain .357 Magnum Hornady XTP does better at 1,250 fps and 548 ft lbs. Don’t get me wrong, the .357 Sig is a good defense round, certainly better than the 9mm on any day. In a pistol with a high capacity magazine you certainly won’t be lacking for power and you could do a lot worse. In a smaller gun like the Glock 33 you have a wonderful little concealed carry piece with nine rounds in the magazine. Not too shabby partner but against the .357 Magnum the .357 Sig is still lacking, and that’s where the old revolver cartridge really wins hands down. The whole concept that Sig-Sauer was working towards was to match the Magnum, and that was never done which is why less and less departments are turning to it when they can go bigger with the .40 S & W. Getting down to the nitty gritty, the .357 Sig was a fantastic idea on paper, but like so many good ideas in concept in the real world it just didn’t pan out for the better when you can get the same size pistol in .40 S & W. Factor that in when you put it toe to toe against the .357 Magnum, which has a well deserved reputation as a manstopper, and it clearly loses in every category that matters. In power and performance the .357 Sig tries to be better than it really is, and while it is good it is not good enough to justify the claim of being equal to the .357 Magnum. Despite its age the .357 Magnum has the knockdown and the pedigree to justify its place in the realm of personal defense against this newcomer that is little more than a pretender to the throne.
@subysuby , Yeah, it was getting late in the day, almost too late to do a video.
Awesome! Thanks for this video. I LOVE my G32! I used to have a G23 as well, but in a side by side test, I was more accurate & had quicker back on tgt times w/the G32, so I made it a keeper & traded away the G23. If ammo was a little cheaper, this would be my EDC & 'go to' for training & plinking.
Now I want a 357 sig
Hickock used the slide release !
That is much smarter than use the rack the slide method. Rack the slide on a series 70 and see what happens, NOTHING. They do not have the capability to pull back the slide to unlock it. But you are waaay cooler to use the tacticool slide rack, ask any tacticool Glock owner.
i love seeing someone on youtube who really does not try to bs us about guns! you should have your own tv show so people could see the real meaning behind guns and gun people! keep up the great work!
Glad I found this video. I have the 9mm conversion barrel for my Glock 22. I had no idea I could get a .357 sig conversion as well. Badass!!
The gun that keeps on giving.
The muzzle flash is indeed more pronounced!
I'm a Sigger ! LOL. Mines a model 33. But thinking of getting the full size. Thanks Hickok45.
I love my Glock 33. Check out Underwood ammo.
You're one helluva shooter, hickock! Good stuff! Keep it up!
Funny watching these older videos compared to ones posted this year.
are you using your glock 23 mags?
He said he was, so I assume he did.
U.S. Secret Service choose 357SIG of duty cartridge to protect our commander in chief. Best duty, defense, & back woods round in my opinion.
levi conway have they subscribed to the whole FBI's new opinion that the 9mm is the best (again) because of increased capacity, blah blah blah, etc etc?
Thanks Hickok45! Another frank and honest video review by you.
Excellent video! I did the same thing, just the other way round. I started with a Glock 32 in .357 Sig. Then I bought a Glock 23 barrel in .40 S&W and used it- with the same delightful results. I also found, much to my surprise, that the .40 S&W rounds hit the taget (on average) about 2 inches lower than the .357. I also found the recoil to be slightly different. The .40 has a deeper "push" in my hands, while the .357 seems softer, but with a sharper "flip".
@MinnsMedia One night I had to shoot three thugs who were robbing my pumpkin patch!. :-) No, never had to do that, thankfully.
You killed the Great Pumpkin. Linus is gonna be pissed.
To all you 9mm people - this round is superior to yours
Andrew Bartels We try to avoid "bullet religion" around here. Handgun rounds mostly just cause people to start leaking; it "ain't" like the movies show. The FBI tests pretty much tell the story.
hickok45 its easy to get caught up in bullet religion when people on here talk bad about .40s&w I like how you are unbiased on most calibers. Im a fan of yours hickok45 :)
hickok45 This is the only comment that matters. FBI has one of the highest tech ballistics labs in the world, and their recently released statement on why they are changing back to 9mm answers all the questions anyone could have. That being said, I still love my .45s because...they make me smile
The round "might" be, but with the abundance of 9mm ammo easily available at a much much cheaper cost, how much does balistic superiority matter when you can only shoot half as much? (I am a huge .357 sig fan so I'm not knocking this round in Any way, shape or form) but it's just not nearly as available or affordable as the venerable 9mm luger. More shooting makes better shooters.
Andrew Bartels only down size, very, very expensive.
These .357's hit hard...
I can watch Hickok45 plink all day.
Great video as always, I was really surprised at the muzzle flash, it's very intense.
I love the sig
My first Glock was (is) a real G-32 in .357 Sig. The 40 barrel (KKM) is for less-expensive practice with cast bullets. Works for me...
+67dodgepolara is there any wear in tare on your g32 and if yes how long did you have it and how often do you shoot it per month? Sorry for all the questions but I currently own twin glock 23 gen3 and im in the market for a 32 gen3. So I was kinda wondering how them good old 357 sigs in glocks hold up. All the 9mm fan bois love to say how 40 s&w beat up glocks but I've seen a 1000 rounds put through a glock 19 and I've seen the same thing happen to a glock 23 both gen3 and the glock 23 was still in one piece while the model 19 guide rod melted so im pretty confident in glocks chamberd in 40s&w when it comes to durability, but the 357 sig kinda scares me a bit at 40,000 psi. Hickock45 ur welcome to join in at any time old timer. P.S love the vids
+67dodgepolara In truth I've only fired maybe 200 rounds of .357 I mostly practice with .40 S&W in a K&M barrel. I have I estimate 1500 to 2000 rounds of that and when I clean the frame & slide I'm amazed it looks so new. The S&W revolver this gun replaced had 250 round on it and had to be re-timed at S&W plus a new cylinder-advancer rod so I'm very pleased with the G32. .357 has some real 'pop' though for sure...!
67dodgepolara my 31 held up very well to 2000 plus before I went to the p320.
My first gun. Glock 32. Pretty excited about it. Your the man Hickok
